Vanessa Jirō-Phonk, previously Vanessa Federov, was born on April 6th in Paris, France. Vanessa's mother was French, along with her father. Vanessa had a sad childhood, for the most part. She often got to play outside with her friends, but she was lonely when inside. Vanessa was a single child and didn't have anyone to play with during rainy days or when her friends where away. Vanessa's parents noticed this and decided to adopt a child. Vanessa had a new sister, known as Friday. Friday came from a nearby orphanage for girls, which was a treacherous place. Lucky for Friday, she was taken in by Vanessa's parents when she was four. Vanessa and Friday played often and were very close. Although Vanessa was five, she still knew how to be patient and careful around little Friday.

As Vanessa and Friday grew older to age seven and eight, they moved more places. Vanessa's parents would often move from house to house, hoping for a perfect settling home. While this didn't bother Friday much, Vanessa hated moving. She would always get carsick on the way to the new house and she'd always have to help unpack. Vanessa also disliked leaving her friends and school behind. Vanessa didn't like moving for many reasons, and another is because she liked being settled down, without moving different places. When Vanessa and Friday were eight and nine, Vanessa's parents settled down for a while in the new neighbourhood they were in. Vanessa and Friday were put into school.
Vanessa's class and Friday's class had the same teacher and where in the same classroom. They learned the same things, did the same activities, it was like they weren't even in different grades due to age.

Vanessa and Friday went to that same school for another year before needing to move again. As Friday and Vanessa packed up their things and said goodbye to their kind friends, they got in their car and began travelling to another home. As Vanessa looked out her car window, she began thinking of her future. What would it be like? What would she become? Vanessa had so many questions and thoughts going through her mind, she began to zone out for a moment. Vanessa was deep in thought until young, little Friday grabbed hold of Vanessa's hair, yanking it and giggling. Of course, little Friday didn't know this hurt Vanessa that much and expected Vanessa to laugh with her, but instead Vanessa screamed due to the pain of her current yanked hair. Friday and Vanessa didn't speak to each other again, that night.

Vanessa just had a lot of thoughts and couldn't sleep for days on end. She kept thinking what her future would be like. Will she keep moving? Will Vanessa and her family ever settle down? How long will her parents be alive for? Would she ever move to a different city or state? Thoughts flooded Vanessa's mind for years and she wouldn't speak for weeks. Vanessa's parents almost suggested bringing her to a doctor with how quiet and inactive she was. Vanessa usually played with Friday all day, but Vanessa was growing older and beginning to worry about what was going to happen next in her life. Vanessa didn't even celebrate her 13th birthday, she spent it up in her room, thinking.

When Vanessa turned thirteen, she became a worrier, not ready for the world. She knew that one day, she'd have to leave her parents and be alone for the rest of her life. It never even occurred to Vanessa that she had Friday and, maybe someday, a boyfriend. Vanessa usually was quiet, inactive, and sleepless. Vanessa often had baggy eyes and she was sleepy. She couldn't get sleep with her future on her mind. Friday was twelve and wanted to start real school instead of homeschooling, but Vanessa being like she was, Vanessa's parents couldn't put them in school. One night, Vanessa's parents asked if she wanted to go to school, and Vanessa nodded. She thought maybe school and friends would get her mind off the world and her future.

One night, Vanessa woke up in the middle of the night. She went to grab a snack and some milk, but Vanessa found her mother with a bloody knife and Vanessa's father on the floor. She knew what had happened, or perhaps she thought she knew. Vanessa thought her mother had killed her father over an argument or something stupid, but there's more to the story than that. That night, after Vanessa's mother went to bed, Vanessa grabbed her sister, Friday, and rushed off to the airport, ready to move to Karakura, Japan to escape her mother.
