Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Teachers are often the first people new players encounter. They guide and offer much insight into how the server runs. Such as. giving players opportunities to roleplay, how to use the commands, and how help with getting to college. Teachers bridge the gap between the new and old players. Not only that, but they are an integral part of the roleplay experience. As majority of the time spent on the server is in school. Meaning they have a fundamental role in a person's experience on the server.
Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?: Yes, I do.
Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?: Yes, I do.
In-Character Section
What's your character's full name?: My name is Chiba Toshio.
What is your character's nationality?: I'm Japanese.
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Performing Arts (Drama)
Describe your character:
Chiba is a 6'5 35 year old chunky husky Japanese male. Who's hair is jet black, shoulder length, and parted to cover his right eye. He's quiet and reserved when alone, but can become loud and excitable around those he is comfortable with. The man walked with a limp and usually had a cane, unless he lost it. Which he has done several times. Chiba wears grey hearing aids 24/7. He has a soothing smooth deep voice that was like the hum of a fine tuned engine. He consistently without fail smelled like an auto shop. It was as if Motor Oil was his cologne of choice.
He has an adopted son, Skylar, and does his best to be a father. It's one of the many things he enjoys in life. He doesn't see much of a future for marriage or anything like that.

What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
Chiba enjoys spending time with his co-workers on and off the clock. He finds them to mostly be enjoyable people to be around and has, in the past, formed meaningful life long
friendships with many. Which he hopes to do again.
As for the kids, like any other teacher he's excited. There's a type of charm that comes from teaching. Even with the chaotic nature of Karakura students, Chiba finds himself to enjoy the flow of the school. Even if it's like a hurricane ran through the place most of the time.
What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
While he was employed as a math teacher at Karakura he had the privilege of sitting in on a few of Mikasa Akiyama's classes. He was able to see the student's preform and hone in on their improve and communication skills. Chiba loved the show and dove deeper into the art. He went to a local theater and saw several shows, volunteered with the actors, and helped with the crew.
Chiba enjoyed both sides of the show making from Tech to the Acting, and has found himself wanting to inform others about the joys of a good show.
Roleplay Scenarios
A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Chiba walked over to the student. He knelt down to their level and took a peek at their work. He listened intently as the student explained the issue. "Understanding stage directions can be hard. Think of it like this." He drew a square on their paper and made it slightly slanted upward near the back. "When theaters were first created, the farthest end away from the audience was slanted upward. So imagine you're on stage and acting. If you walk towards the audience that's down stage. Walking towards the wall is up stage. Then facing your audience the wing to your right is stage right and the wing to your left is stage left! Does that help?" He waited for confirmation and after receiving it he nodded and headed off to help another student.
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
He turned toward the disruptive student. Shaking his head. "I have asked you too many times to quiet down. You've been disruptive to my lesson and inconsiderate of your classmate's learning. You and your friends may leave if you all wish to talk so badly." Chiba goes and opens the door for the students. "Anyone else who wants to be disruptive may join them." Once the kids leave he closes and locks the door. Going back to his desk and resuming his lesson.
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
Improve Groups
- Students are in groups of 3-5
- Each group is given a random word, phrase, sentence, or theme and will have 5 minutes to put on a show for the class
- Students have 10 minutes to discuss how to set up their scene based on their given topic
The goal of this is to get students to work together, harness their creativity, and demonstrate their planning skills when grouped with individuals they may conflict with.
Mark it. Action!
Students will be tasked with making their own mini show and using puppets to put on a show.
- Students will be put in groups of 2-4
- Each group will be given a medium cardboard theater and 4 sock puppets; students can come up and get more puppets.
- Premade outfits as well as accessories, and the materials to make more, will be set in a box at the front of the room
- Cardboard, construction paper, scissors, glue, tape, ect will be at the front as well
- Students must decide who will be the director, the stage manager, the tech manager, and the costume manager
- Students will be given the choice between premade scripts or making their own; however each group must fit their script in a 5 minute time slot.
-Students will have 10-15 minutes to work
Students will have to work together to set up their stage, make their costumes, train their "actors", all under a time crunch. Just like a real production crew. This is meant to teach students the importance of time management, good leadership, and teamwork.
