Looking through an old computer on a stormy night, the dial-up tone echoing through the halls with a gentle touch of old money as the old discoloured wallpaper slowly peeled from the walls revealing a deep brown wood carved to perfection. You’d wonder why anyone would cover it up as the computer finished loading the document you spent hours trying to recover from old databases.
The title of the document would have a certain feel like that of a newspaper, regardless of it being an official Meyer record. Beneath the title would be what looked to be a transcript of a conversation followed by a block of writing in a cursive only described as timeless.
When corruption and power collide.
‘To change is to abandon lineage’ - 15th May 1252
[MEYER FAMILY HEAD - ADELHEID MEYER]
“Thank you for taking the time to meet with me today brother Hermann, I would not have called you here if it weren’t urgent.”
[MEYER BRANCH HEAD - HERMANN MEYER]
“It is fine dear sister. Speak your mind and I will listen.”
[MEYER HEAD - ADELHEID MEYER]
“It’s come to my attention you have been accessing the family library without cause or permission from neither I nor our father. I can understand why you may not go to him due to his lack of participation in family events as of recently, but I must know why you didn’t ask me?”
[MEYER BRANCH HEAD - HERMANN MEYER]
“I was looking over texts and records from previous years. I didn’t see any reason I should ask you to read the history of my own family.”
It would be noted that H. Meyer had raised his voice at A. Meyer.
[MEYER HEAD - ADELHEID MEYER]
“Now now, watch your tone brother. I must ask you to remember where I stand in this family. You were told explicitly along with your children and the rest of the family that you were to ask for permission before accessing any official Meyer records due to the recent rise of corruption in your branch.”
[MEYER BRANCH HEAD - HERMANN MEYER]
“Right, yes sister. However, I must ask what you believe you can do if I don’t?”
[MEYER HEAD - ADELHEID MEYER]
“You will be disowned and your place will be given to another of our siblings to control your hell spawns.”
[MEYER BRANCH HEAD - HERMANN MEYER]
“You sound exactly like our father when he challenged my power.”
[MEYER HEAD - ADELHEID MEYER]
“Excuse me? What did you do to him?! Where has he been?”
It would be noted that A. Meyer would stand from her chair as the two guards on either side of her faced H. Meyer.
[MEYER BRANCH HEAD - HERMANN MEYER]
“He is out of the picture now. You are all that is left in my way to take absolute control, as decreed by our ancestors if you recall?”
[MEYER HEAD - ADELHEID MEYER]
“You- You filth.! Get him out and ███████ him for his crimes!”
It should be noted that A. Meyer would order the guards directly. However, the guards would not move from their places and would instead face A. Meyer with their spears in hand.
[MEYER BRANCH HEAD - HERMANN MEYER]
“I give you my deepest apologies sister, but I fear your time has come.”
It should be noted that after this last comment by H. Meyer, the guards would ███████ A. Meyer.
The transcript would end here with further notes added below. However, none of them would line up with the transcript, almost as if they were purposefully written wrong..
Notes
I regret to inform you that Adelheid Meyer has fallen to the blades of her own protection. In this time of grieving, Hermann Meyer has offered to take her place and lead the Meyer lineage into a new age of power and glory that in his words is a long time coming. It has been decided that there will be no funeral for the previous family head as it was decided to be the best course of action following the investigation into her death.
During the investigation, it was found that Adelheid Meyer was purposefully using her power to cause discourse throughout the bloodline, and abusing it to cause harm to our reputation in our great homeland. Hermann Meyer had confronted Adelheid about this and allegedly was ordered to be killed by her guards to silence him. However, by the brave acts of her guards, she was stopped in her tracks.
Following this discovery of Adelheid’s corruption, it was also found that she was the soul murderer of her father Ernst Meyer. We hope that by her passing the family will be put back on track to its everlasting goal of perfection. And furthermore we hope Hermann Meyer will assist us further in succeeding.
