Four dead whales wash ashore.
The cadavers decay and rot beneath the summer sun; bloating more and more with each passing hour. Onlookers watch with awe, sympathy and morbid curiosity.
A hundred kilometers to the north, an official delivers a nation-wide briefing to the public, announcing a massive eighty-nine trillion Japanese Yen package, negotiated and finalized for U.S.-bound investments and loans. Another turning point for the country's economy, in a year already filled with them.
In Karakura, power trickles to a small derelict basement, nestled within the ward of Shōtengai, and a computer fan spins to life.
Three hours later, the whales burst; painting the shore red for over half a mile.
The Western Japan stock exchange closes with its largest single-day gain in decades.
From Karakura, a Fukuoka-based account is accessed. Then, another. Then, a third.
The first movement of money is small. Almost insignificant. A series of dormant accounts, untouched for over a year, transferring funds between mainland businesses, holdings, and private accounts alike.
The names attached to them are old. Names that once worked beneath the Dojin-Kai. Names that disappeared quietly from Karakura's public eye. Their office closed. Their members returned home. Their name became yet another forgotten entry in the long and bloody history books of organized crime. No announcement marked their departure, and no conflict marked their end.
They believed that criminality did not excuse dishonour, and that power without responsibility was nothing more than common thuggery. They followed the Ninkyō code. They were bound by private oaths, and commitments to their sworn brothers. They refused to prey upon ordinary civilians. They refused to hide their faces. They accepted responsibility for the consequences of their actions, for’ they believed a man's actions reflected upon everyone who carried his name.
It was never even a suggestion. It was just the standard by which all of them were judged.
A century-old ideal in a modern criminal world. A belief that loyalty still mattered; that reputation still carried weight; that a man was defined by what he refused to do, and not only by what he was willing to do.
Whether the world still shared those beliefs was irrelevant.
The whales rotted on the shore;
The yen moved across the world;
And beneath the streets of Shōtengai, the Masahiko-Kai opened its eyes.

THE MASAHIKO-KAI
• The direct continuation of a once Karakura-based Yakuza family, established in 2024; now answering to no name but its own.
A close-knit Yakuza organization, intricately crafted, once again, entirely for in-world criminal roleplay, in order to contribute to the ever-expanding world-building of SRP. We're primarily targeted towards adult characters, whom' are focused on both realistic and immersive roleplay and character writing/development. - With that being said, however, we're open to all those interested in a genuinely authentic YakuzaRP experience, backed by years of research and knowledge.
The Masahiko-Kai (Or; Masahiko Clan) is the result of several years of writing, development, and refinement. What began in 2024, as a small Karakura-based Yakuza family, beneath the crest of the Dojin-Kai, has since flourished into this entirely new project, built around one central idea; which is to once again create a realistic, active, and meaningful criminal organization, that contributes to the server as a whole. There is also an aim to (eventually) have a heavy emphasis on player-ran events, that the wider crime faction can take part in, in hopes of sparking some further life into the activity within it.This project is not about creating another street gang, nor' is it an attempt to re-boot the original Masahiko Family. The Clan exists now as a direct continuation of that original foundation, carrying forward the history, relationships, and burdens that were built before it, while creating a new opportunity for authors to shape its future. It is a different era, an improved organization, and a new chapter in the story of Karakura's Yakuza.
Above all else; this project is about exploring the world of Karakura's organized criminals, through the perspective of a modern-day, large-scale Yakuza organization; an institution built upon hierarchy, reputation, business, loyalty, respect, and personal relationships; with real in-world history and lore. The Clan exists to create long-lasting stories, as opposed to short-lived conflicts. Every alliance; every rivalry; every promotion; every business venture; every betrayal; and every downfall is an opportunity to create roleplay that extends beyond the organization itself.
You do not need to be an expert on the Yakuza or their operations to become a part of this project. Much of what you need to know will come better naturally through experience, roleplay, and interaction with other members. What matters most is a willingness to write thoughtfully, collaborate with others, and approach something new with respect. The Masahiko-Kai is ultimately a collaborative story. Characters will rise and fall. Businesses will succeed and collapse. Alliances will be created and broken. Members may earn trust, lose it, or even redefine what the Clan means entirely. The organization will only become as interesting as the people who choose to shape it, and the conflict that comes from its members' actions. After-all, the goal is to create an organization that truly feels alive.
You are no longer arriving at the beginning of that original family's story, nor' are you arriving at its end. You are instead becoming a part of everything that comes next; and whether we rise once again or fall completely into obscurity depends on you.
