★ WHAT IS DELINQUENT ROLEPLAY? ★
Delinquent Roleplay is a term used for a Roleplay Community based on a Japanese subculture called Bōsōzoku (literally translating too ‘Reckless Driving Group’).
Bōsōzoku Gangs have a heavy focus on the youth of Japan, stemming from troubled teenagers to college dropouts. They were known for their loud modified motorcycles, unique fashion, and rebellious behaviour. Bōsōzoku style traditionally involves boiler suits (or alternatively leather jackets, baggy pants and boots; this became known as the tokkō-fuku (literally translating to ‘Special Attack Clothing’) and is often adorned with kanji slogans and the Japanese flag. Some typical accessories within Bōsōzoku attire were Hachimaki (literally translating to ‘Helmet scarf’) and Surgical Masks.
Bōsōzoku members are widely known for their modified motorcycles. They’d often take their road bikes and add modifications such as over-sized fairings, lifted handlebars bent inwards, large seat backs, extravagant paint jobs, and modified mufflers.
Within Delinquent Roleplay, the Community prioritises P2L (Play 2 Lose) and Detail Roleplay over all else; encouraging participation, effort, and an overall active presence. However, there are commonly exceptions for combat forms like Detailed Rolling.

★ HISTORY OF DELINQUENT ROLEPLAY IN SRP ★

Delinquent Roleplay officially made its debut when Rakkiyatsu and ZEROS’ were formed, pitting war against each other. Rakkiyatsu, led by the ‘King of Delinquents’, Ryota Miyazaki and the ZEROS’ led by the infamous Taku Kase – though his first name wasn’t known to many at the time, it continues to be a mystery in the world of the Bōsōzoku. Both Street Gangs clashed head-to-head on many occasions throughout Karakura, though the ZEROS’ remained victorious, near all who were involved came out with nasty injuries. Eventually, Rakkiyatsu disbanded, marking ZEROS’ as the Gang Wars victor. However, the turmoil didn’t end there, because Ryota Miyazaki and his Second-In-Command, the Tiger, Koji Hiroshima duked it out after not seeing eye-to-eye. In a result of this, the three Street Kings, Ryota Miyazaki, Koji Hiroshima and ‘KASE’ duked it out in a gruelling battle. The outcome was unknown to this day; however, the turmoil had seemed to drown out over the following week.
With the ZOKU-VS-ZOKU conflict behind them, a month had gone by in silent premeditation. In the ashes of Rakkiyatsu’s fall, their Second-In-Command made himself known through his newly formed Bōsōzoku, the Crows, later known as Hammerheads. This in turn sparked a terrifying War between the Karakuras ZEROS’ and the Crows/Hammerheads - things had taken an even futher drastic escalation as several new Street-Gangs joined the mix. Black Dragons, a so-called ‘Delinquent’ Gang, who didn’t seem to make the cut down the line, and the Blue Boys. All four Street-Gangs battled it out through Karakura for the title of the STRONGEST Gang. In the end, as all other gangs eventually fell, ZEROS’ stood tall, taking their place as the STRONGEST amongst Karakura. However, all good things must come to an end, and soon, with nobody to rival, the Karakuras ZEROS’ found themselves in a huge drought for presence, inevitably moving on in life, and disbanding.
With all the Bōsōzoku Gangs gone, and nobody stepping up to take the mantle, a power vacuum was created. Years went by until finally, from the lowest ranks of the Yakuza hierarchy, Ani Matsumoto fell back into Delinquency, eventually breaking away from a Yakuza Family and returning to Karakura with his own Bōsōzoku, now known as White Knuckle. Initially, they had nobody to rival, being the only Delinquent Street-Gang around, though eventually that changed, with Tskakibara’s comeback for their second-generation, pitting the two Gangs against each other. However, Tskakibara hasn’t been seen by White Knuckle for some time now. However, silently, a new Bōsōzoku had risen from the shadows; Yokotsu, later to be known as Moebius; want to know how the story of the Karakuras Bōsōzoku ends? - Simply, join one of the currently standing Gangs, and experience it for yourself.

Bōsōzoku - literally translating to ‘reckless driving groups’; a youth subculture about rebellious biker gangs within Japan.
Zoku - “Tribe” or “Clan”; often used as a term to describe youth subcultures.
Tokkō-fuku - literally translating to “special attack clothing”; generally made up of a boiler suit (or alternatively a leather jacket), baggy pants and boots that was most often adorned in Kanji slogans.
Kanji - Japanese lettering often used decoratively or symbolically.
Hachimaki - a headband, often with slogans or the Japanese flag.
Yakuza - a Japanese Crime Syndicate built on the foundation of hierarchy and rules.
Sukeban - an-all female Delinquent gang that literally translates to ‘Girl Bosses’; Sukeban groups were often built on youthful teenage girls who rejected traditional expectations and proper behaviour.
Yankī - a term used in Delinquent youth culture; often students or college dropouts who reject authority, school rules, and social expectations – not always a part of a Gang, but able to generally orbit Bōsōzoku groups.
Gyaru - a fashion-driven youth culture; their focus is more directed to appearance, confidence, and standing out; not inherently criminals.
Shazai - literally translating to ‘Public Apology’; a punishment within Bōsōzoku culture that would have the member at fault apologise in front of the Gang or Leadership. This was a means of humiliation and accountability.
Rank Demotion – simply as put, this was a punishment given out to members at fault, used a means to show loss of respect and trust; this was either a temporary or permanent result depending on the severity of their actions.
Patch Removal – the removal of ones representing embroidered patch/symbol; this was a means to take away a part of their identity and that they do not represent the Gang. This was either a temporary or permanent punishment.

★ CHARACTER CREATION ★
Firstly, when beginning Character Creation, it is best to have a set goal in mind on where you want your character to go or end up – an end goal. Believe me, roleplaying out your character will be much easier with lore to go off. When heading into Delinquent Roleplay, due to it being based off a Japanese subculture, it is heavily led and built up by Japanese people, so it is best to keep your character within that cultural background/ethnicity, however, that doesn’t mean you cannot have non-Japanese characters. Though here, the Character Creation examples will be done with a Japanese background.
To begin with, you want to make up a name accurate to Japan. Below is our chosen full name:

Now that we have a full name, accurate to a Japanese background, we want to think about their personality, what are they like? Below is our chosen personality, described with effort.
Andou Nishimura, summed up in a singular word; explosive. The young teenager had a small fuse, often described as a stick of dynamite simply waiting to explode. Every glance, word or gesture can cause an unsettling response. The boy was clouded in what the world may believe as pointless animosity, making him seemingly difficult to approach.
Now that we have our Characters Personality, it is time to start working on his appearance, what he looks like, his facial features and his overall look. This ties in heavily with personality, because it can influence his appearance. Below is our chosen appearance, described with effort.
The somewhat tall figure before you reeked of Tobacco. In-fact, it was the first thing you noticed about the man with dim hazel eyes. That, and then the unnaturally punkish hair that graced his head; it gave off an unkempt look; one that bothered even the friendliest of people. As well as all that, he tended to wear baggy pants and a tight shirt, making him seem bigger than he may truthfully be. Approach with caution.
With your Characters name, personality and appearance all ticked off your checklist, all you need now to complete the Character Creation process is to write up their backstory. However, there won’t be one listed here, as I will leave that for your own creative minds to write up.

★ HOW TO MAKE A DELINQUENTRP GANG ★
When making a DelinquentRP gang, you first want to have a clear understanding on what the Bōsōzoku is as a subculture (refer to contents). Although having a guide to DelinquentRP, it doesn’t exactly teach you how they act, so, to combat that, it is highly suggested to read up on Bōsōzoku/Delinquent Manga, some recommendations are; Bakoun Rettou, Crows, Crows Zero, OUT, Worse, Drop, and Clover. As well as these, there are several articles and documentaries regarding Bōsōzoku online.
Firstly, you want to have a clear knowledge on the severity of your Bōsōzoku. Are they going to be cultural based, focusing on their culture, rather than all-out fighting? Are they going to be focused on combat and fighting? Every Bōsōzoku is different due to their own boundaries; commonly though, most Bōsōzoku Gangs do not involve themselves with blades, however, that doesn’t mean you cannot use them, switchblades were common, but within the DelinquentRP community, you’d expect to see those during events, and not everyday encounters. End point is to have a clear understanding of the brutality of your Delinquent Gang.
Next, you want to decide on your Gang’s name, Bōsōzoku would often have awful Street Gang names as an act of rebellion. You can refer to sources like manga for Gang Name inspiration, as well as real-life old time Bōsōzoku’s.
Once you’ve created your Delinquent Gang, make sure to get out there and roleplay things out and continue with activity even if you have little or no members. Push through and continue on even if things seem difficult at first, you WILL get there. As well as this, make sure to interact with other DelinquentRP Gangs, getting that server-presence really helps push your Gangs name out there.
