BACKSTORY:
Ella Sato had a normal childhood. She was an average student and graduated somewhat top of her class, though she was never the best. That didn't stop her from becoming a rather extreme optimist! Ella's passion was music. She spent years studying musical theory in preparation to one day become a teacher. At age 25, Ella moved to Karakura, where she would live with her family and teach at Taketatsu High School.
Ella enjoyed her life at Karakura. She had made loads of friends and spent most of her time preparing lessons and teaching her students. She lived the life normal people live. Ella had nothing to worry about, for everything was going just according to plan for her. Though that didn't last long in the coming months. Throughout her time teaching, there were a group of individuals that caught her attention. After making poor decisions, and not sticking to her normal lifestyle, Ella found herself running from Karakura's richest family, the Herringtons. Still keeping her optimist ways, she was run out of the city, where she changed her name, her appearance, and her life. She never hated the Herrington family. Though she knew she'd cross paths with them again.
Ella, who had now changed her name to Yuri, was devastated. Although she still believed that the world wasn't as bad as people made it out to be, she was still sad to leave her friends and family behind. So she changed her name, and made preparations to come back. After getting her name legally changed, Yuri Sato begun studying psychology and sociology in hopes to find a new job upon returning to Karakura. Her reasons for returning to the city are still unknown. Though she was still a heavy optimist, you could assume that she still saw the good in Karakura, and wanted to continue teaching there.
Yuri Sato moved back to Karakura at age 35, after minor plastic surgery to her face, and a change in hair color. With working as a professor at Karakura High School, Yuri developed a new identity for herself. Though she never saw the same friends she had met ten years ago. After months of teaching at the high school, this time teaching psychology, Yuri had met Zen. Zen Lue took a liking to Yuri, and the two quickly became friends. Although Zen had his secrets, optimist Yuri never doubted him for a moment. One day, Yuri was in a store before she had heard robbers enter and scream for everyone to get in a corner and shut up. Yuri, clearly frightened complied with their wishes and went to a corner. One by one, the robbers would pick up hostages and cut them open as the police would try to reason with them. Suddenly she was grabbed by the collar and shoved out in front of the door, about to be used as another victim until the police burst in and rescued Yuri and the remaining hostages. Yuri ran home to Zen, and told him what had happened.
Hours of talking led Zen to explaining to Yuri how people do bad things for good reasons. He explained how he was a part of a gang "Bakuto", and made a living for his family off of killing "bad people". That was the day Yuri's optimism slowly started plummeting. One year later, Yuri was resigned from the High School, and married to Zen. They had just given birth to a beautiful little girl Gianna. Yuri at the time, decided to join Bakuto along side her husband and work to make money in order to support the family. Yuri was out on a mission one day, and came back to her apartment to her loving husband and child, only to find both of them slaughtered on the floor, Zen holding her child close. Something inside Yuri snapped, and she ran.
Yuri was eventually taken in by the Kurabu family. Fei Kurabu took her and treated her as if she were her daughter. She then adopted the name Yuri Kurabu. Though Fei had other plans for Yuri. Fei used the death of Zen and Gianna to turn Yuri into a complete sociopath. After Fei's grandson Kodo, the leader of Bakuto left Karakura, Yuri was then granted the gang. Motivated by pure hatred and desire for revenge, the business oriented gang quickly turned into one in which targeted anyone who got in her way. By age 37, Yuri turned Bakuto into Karakura's largest and most feared gang of them all. Between the time she ruled Bakuto, and now, Yuri has disappeared off the grid. Bakuto evidently was left in shambles, and no one knew where Yuri was intending on going.
