Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Teachers are a main factor to School Roleplay. School the main focus of the RP you cannot have a education system with no one to provide to educate, to help bring the feel of an actual school. Teachers provide protection, assistance, help and guidance to the role players who are looking for a story line. Especially to those who have just begun their adventure in SchoolRP. Teachers overall should know the everyday basics of the roleplay which makes them perfect for students to ask questions whether it be of topics, navigation, and rules. They also can be a helping factor in a student's/roleplayers story building.
Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?: Yes
Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?: Yes
In-Character Section
What's your character's full name?: Alvin Lockhart
What is your character's nationality?: Chinese And African American
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Science (Biology)
Describe your character:
Physical Appearance: Alvin Lockhart is a 5/7 afro-Chinese young male with albinism in his early twenties. His skin is olive toned with snow white hair and crimson red eyes. His go to attire is his custom-made lab coat from his father, Dress pants, a blue button up shirt and black sneakers to complete the outfit. His sense of style is rather basic and blander to others.
Personality: Alvin's personality can be described by most that have interacted with him as quiet, very direct with his words, soft spoken and usually calm. His cold persona from the outside can easily be mistaken for him being rude but Alvin is actually kind and understanding. He just shows it in his own ways. He's learned about sharing empathy and a lending ear to those in need by a dear friend of his who has done the same for him when he was cold to others, now he inspires to do the same.
What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
Alvin believes he has an understanding with the feelings of students and co-workers. Being a student himself, he understands the struggles students go through and how much it can affect them being their actions and personalities. With co-workers he understands the stress of working, paying bills, and the overall adult life which he finds respect for everyone all though he won't ever truly understand of what they go through in their own lives. When he see's rebellious students, he could guess they most likely haven't got the best life outside. With co-workers exhausted and mentally drained he could understand the possibilities of rude customers, rude employers, unfair treatment in the job, and working under another person's conditions and rules. So, he shows his respect to everyone by the assumption that everyone goes through a similar time in struggles and they all cope in their own ways whether it being damaging to themselves or others.
What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
Alvin's prime focus in his educational career has always been about science whether being biology, physics, or chemistry. He's studied them all despite being forced by his father he's grown to like the subject in his own way and reasonings, the thought of teaching it to others has roamed his mind previously and was given the idea by his classmates to run as the science club president. Which he did and successfully ran as the science club president for some months. The feeling of teaching a subject he's passionate about to others also interested brings him a feeling of joy and accomplishment, being a ladder for someone who seeks the same goal as him brought him understanding of why individuals become teachers. They all share the same desire of educating those in need but all for their own reasons. He wants to become a teacher to continue to be a stepping stool for the young who's in the same position in life just as he was, looking for a career, finding who they are and what they want as their legacy or to just even make a name for themselves. Focusing on the science subject could lead them into being a doctor. a chemist, a biologist, and geologist, a pharmacist, and possibly even a psychologist. One of these things could be something a student aims to be but doesn't know how. But hopefully with Alvin's teachings he'll help inspire and motivate those who do seek any of these opportunities but just has no clue how to achieve them. Though he is sure it will be a difficult time to adjust and figure out many ways to teach those at the same time despite being on different levels in learnings, but he will certainly try and not give up.
Roleplay Scenarios
A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Alvin would first ask the struggling student what it is they do not understand and will try to explain in a simpler detailed form, If they happen to still not understand the subject, he will another method of teaching the subject in an easier form then previously. But if they happen to not understand still, he will pull them aside after class to keep the students struggles private from his/her classmates and offer tutoring after school or after class or possibly changing the subject to something similar but much easier to understand. Then progress back to the same previous subject to see if they will have an understanding of the content they found problematic before.
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
He is a firm believer of not resorting straight to the harshest actions before the peaceful routes. Alvin will politely direct the students back to focusing on him while he is teaching. If the students still proceeds to be disruptive and a distraction to the class, Alvin will be more upfront and direct with telling the students to focus and remain silent during his teaching. As a last resort if the student continues to be a distraction, disruptive and now declining his requests. He will tell the student to leave the classroom whether it being by himself or being escorted out of the class and mark them for a failing grade.
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
The 1st class idea I've cultivated is studying the genetic variation in different animal breeds such as dogs for example. Dogs can be placed differently with their wide variety of traits, but they all still share the DNA. And even humans being able to be discussed for their influence in the biodiversity of the animals in their environment.
The 2nd class idea I've cultivated is studying the topics of epidemiology and discussing how diseases spread in populations. Investigating and studying their vectors of transmitting themselves through bodily systems and airborne transmissions and studying of how the change of climate can increase or decrease the disease rates of air-borne diseases and looking into the frequencies of diseases in specific populations.
My 3rd class idea is discussing the causes of the complex brain disease known as Alzheimer's and discussing its symptoms along with debating on who can get Alzheimer's depending on their age, race, gender, the consumption of drugs, food or drinks, previous head injuries and possibly from their own mental health.
