What shop are you applying for?:
Any gift shop I believe, renamed to Okaeri.
I wish to have it be mainly a gift and accessory shop, with a lounge where (a limited menu) tea is served in the corner if possible! Similar to bookstore cafes or stores with a starbucks built in however the focus will be on the gift shop.
This application is formatted to the slot Sayonara, but I'm okay with waiting for future waves and any gift shop slots work!
What does the shops name mean?:
“Welcome Home”
The shop would focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere, and making sure that everyone who steps through the doors feels comfortable.
This name is decided to keep most of the heritage of Sayonara, however with the current name meaning goodbye, we would not want people leaving the store or feeling unwelcome. So instead, keeping a similar theme, we will say welcome home instead of goodbye. We want to honor the shop and its history rather than covering it, so the name will be honored as vital for the store.
Why do you want to become a Shopkeeper?:
「Creating an Experience」
I truly believe Shopkeeper is the best role on SRP, it offers immense creativity, dedication, and just a good experience all around. There is a number of reasons for why I want to be a shopkeeper, it's not about the title, or the money as I already can make plenty from Tailoring, however I want to foster an experience for others. Most gift shops aren't built on an experience but rather the items that one can purchase. I want to make it an experience, both for players and employees. I want to get to know more people outside of those who I typically talk to. I have played SRP since 2020, and I have involved myself in very few groups, for the longest time only sports faction. Recently I have taken on a teacher role, which has helped in a similar way, but I want to fully customize the experience.
「Active Shop」
While I have played for a long time, I know there is quite a bit of shops, I have worked at quite a few of such, but one major problem I have seen in the faction is how some shops barely open, some not even meeting quota of 12 openings, or not opening for months at a time. For this, I really want to become an active shop, so that way there’s another regularly opening store.
「Providing Back to Community」
Truthfully I also just have a lot of custom ideas I would love to sell. Both with stuff I already have - such as hairbows, and just custom ideas that I want to purchase. I have already spent quite a fair bit of money on SRP, having bought 15+ custom items, and 3 custom vehicles. I have the money to spend on getting custom items for the shop, helping fund SRP while I am at it. I believe I have a lot of good ideas to purchase as customs, so if I own a store I'd be able to quickly let players find stuff they like.
What experience do you have in management?:
Though I have not been a shopkeeper before, I have a lot of experience with management, and running an experience through real life roles, and online roles.
On SchoolRP I have held a few roles, for starters I have helped run Misfits Tailoring as a manager. I run workshops in order to provide back to the community, as well as leadership skills of helping others out, and organization on a wide skill of a discord server with over 1,000 members. Additionally I have been co-captain for the high school female volleyball team for over a year. This has helped me understand being a part of a team and also leadership. A more recent role has been teacher, where I have been able to host classes and create an experience for new and old players alike. Lastly, I have also been a part of numerous shops as both a regular employee, and a manager, helping me understand just how to run a shop on SRP.
Though I don’t like to talk about other servers, it’s worth noting that I have quite a bit of experience that would give me skills to use as a shopkeeper. These include being a moderator on countless servers, (one I will mention is RPH’s former server, FantasyRP), in a server of over 6,000 members I lead the moderation team as well.
Though quite different, I also have a lot of experience in real life management. For starters though I am only 19, I have held a lot of experience within highschool positions. Every year I was a member of the student council, through various positions, holding Student Council Treasurer, Peer leader, and Student Representative where calculated costs within Treasurer position, and I presented in front of my schools superintendent, principal, and vice-principal along with the student board to discuss student issues and make changes as representative. Though not management, I also have learnt how to manage a real business, through my parents showing me how to work at their store.
Overall, I have countless qualifications and experiences that will lead me to be able to run an SRP shop, as management, and organization are some of my most prominent skills.
What do you plan to do with your shop, and what makes it unique?:
“Welcome home”
The entire premise of the shop would be to be welcoming and homely, through the atmosphere, a lounge where either games or tea will be served, and welcoming staff. To truly make it unique, I want to make people want to come and enter the shop, rather than quickly look around, buy an item and walk away which is how most shops work.
「Atmosphere」
In order to fit the theme of “welcome home” the atmosphere needs to be homely. Warm and calming colors will fit the interior, along with splashes of color, to add a sense of POP!
In addition to the isles of items, there will also be a small lounge, for people to take a seat and rest, adding onto the “homely” feel. People will be able to stay as long as they want, with an always open door, even if the shop isn’t open. As the store already has such a feel, the exterior won't be edited much but rather just tweaked as needed!
As you step up to the storefront, you are greeted by a bright, welcoming exterior. While there is a splash of color, an off-white creates a light, airy feel to the store. Stepping through the open front door greets you with a small stepping point, with slippers to switch into, like one does at home. Promptly a staff member calls out “Okaeri, stay as long as you want!” - signifying welcome home. The aroma wafts upon you as the scent of clean linen.
「Tea Lounge」
On top of the traditional store, there will be a small corner section where a few seats will be, for people to be served tea. The tea variations will be limited, but custom to Okaeri. This will be a sub aspect of the primary focus, so the space will be limited and tea won't always be served, however on the occasions it is not served, instead, there will be Game Hosts, doing simple games for small prizes. This lounge's entire goal is to foster more roleplay, while at the store, as well as fit into the aesthetic of home. You can step in and feel welcomed.
「Events」
Along with all of the normal shop openings, I will host events that welcome people more to the shop. These events would be in collaboration with other companies, offering a space for people to talk or just hangout, especially in the place of events for group settings who just want a place to relax.
「Partner Secret Santa」 | An event aimed for anyone who is in the discord, the secret santa will encourage others to get involved with the employees through a gift exchange. All employees are encouraged to be involved, and it can be a partner with another company such as another shop or tailoring for employees to talk to each other. |
「Where’s Waldo???」 | A staple game, but we can add it to shop openings. Placing an item somewhere in the shop, that the first 3 people to find will get a money reward for! Adding both interest in coming to the shop, as well as just a bit of fun. |
「Lounge Games」 | A way to invite people to the shop and incorporate roleplay, in the lounge there will be someone playing games with people for a prize. The games played will be on a rotation bases, sometimes being games like rock, paper, scissors, arm wrestling, or tic tac toe, the games will be fairly simple in terms of ideas so all people understand and more games will be added as needed. If you win against the game host, then you will receive a small cash prize, or an exclusive item. |

A vital aspect of any shop, Okaeri will sell all items that are currently in stock, however, on top of that there will be series of items that I will purchase in order to be exclusive Okaeri items! These items will mix luxury with intimate familiarity. As there is many different things people enjoy, there will be items for everyone. Pop culture series’ will be for those who love to be collectors with various items that embody items that people have personal connection with, comfort characters and shows. There will also be other series’ unrelated to any sort of fandom, for those who aren’t big on collecting their favorite shows. Overall there will be a wide variety of items fit for anyone, no matter your character's personality!
Additionally to the storefront items, there will be a limited menu of teas. If the lounge is serving tea at the moment, then anyone is welcome to take a seat, and get some tea and relax between the business of the store.

What sort of values and rules will your shop hold?:
「Welcoming」♡ 「Engaging」♡ 「Respectful」
Though this store will serve to be just on SRP, it is still a company and a brand. So there are some core values that should be upheld through all employees and customers. I want it to be welcoming to all, engaging to be apart of, and respectful of one another. Employees should feel comfortable and welcomed, they should enjoy being able to work, and feel both respected, and respect their peers to create the best possible environment for everyone. Additionally, any customers who walk through the doors of Okaeri should feel that we foster that environment.
There will be no hard rules written out, but rather the expectation that everyone will follow and do their best to uphold the values set for the shop.
What will you do if the values and rules are not followed?:
It depends on who breaks the values, but either way, they are set up to make everyone feel comfortable. If someone isn't aligned with the core concepts of the store from a staff standpoint, they will be spoken to in a respectful conversation, where they can express their side of why they aren't aligned. If a conversation is unable to come to a resolution, than the employee will be removed, to make sure everyone else feels comfortable.
If there is a customer who is not following the values, either by being rude or causing problems within the store, the security employees will remove them from the store, and they will be put on a blacklist if future issues arise with them. Though I hope to not have to do this, as I want everyone to have a good experience, but it is a last case scenario.
How many employees do you plan to have?:
In total, the employee count will be at nearly 40 staff members. Of course this is quite a lot, but it’s necessary for all of the roles. There will be people in charge of cash registers, overseeing security and welcoming customers, and hosts who will encourage roleplay.

This role would be overseeing everything, including purchasing customs, hiring new members, promoting staff, sending out adverts and organization of the shop's aesthetics and items.
「Manager」?/3
This role, just underneath the shopkeeper, will be another step of priority for making sure that all things run smoothly, they will assist in hiring and sorting staff, aiding in shop openings, and extra advice with shops aesthetics and items.
「Till Assistant」?/15+
The main role of all employees, they will serve to exchange the items for money. They will have to maintain a friendly atmosphere, selling the welcome home expression. At the end of each interaction, they should serve to honor the store’s history.
“Hii, welcome to Okaeri. What can I do for you?” A simple interaction, you’ve likely seen it countless of times. As you place your order, they maintain a smile, and then when you turn to walk away, they call out. “Sayonara! Thank you!”
「Security」?/10+
Another main role in the store, while normal security will just be there in case, security will be a friendly role for this store. Of course they serve to be there in case of any disagreements, and remove people as necessary, however this isn’t their only role. Their second goal is to create an amicable relationship between the store and every person who enters. So the job of security will be to also entertain customers, by asking questions, and also getting feedback.
Someone stands near the doorway, offering a warm smile as you approach. They call out shortly, in a friendly tone. “Hi there! Welcome to Okaeri! What sort of items would you like to see added to our roster?” The question serves to allow real suggestions to be added.
「Tea Hosts」?/5+
As not quite a normal cashier, there will be a few members of staff that serve as tea hosts, who serve tea to those sitting in the lounge. This role is to be respectful, and offer a more homely experience for customers.
The smell of freshly brewed Matcha wafts throughout the store. The direction clearly came from the lounge in the corner, stepping closer, there was a few seats on a dais. The foot of the platform had free slippers, for you to wear before stepping up to a seat.
「Game Hosts」?/5+
An atypical role, the game hosts will serve as people encouraging roleplay through playing games in the lounge corner, where people can win money or prizes, for winning simple games. The games will not be played every opening, but a majority should be in order to invite roleplay. The games will not be a main focus, but rather just an added element for customers to have roleplay encouraged.
In the corner of the shop, you spot it. A small lounge draws you away from the isles upon isles of items. Sitting calmly, is someone in the Okaeri uniform, on the couch opposite appears an excited individual. “Rock! Paper! Scissors!” The calls are made, and promptly a disappointed look expresses on the individual. A handshake and they step away. The Okaeri game host looks at you, and you can almost sense their thoughts. Are YOU going to play next?
Shop uniforms:
The uniforms will consist of several different options, the main one being a male and female variant of one another in the shops color scheme. Additionally, there is a kimono variant, primarily for Tea Hosts but other employees can wear it as well.

In the office of shop applications, there was a singular bundled yellow envelope. Across it was a teal ribbon, with an elegant bow tying it together. Stamped onto it was the name, “Ayuri Kōki.” As you opened it, and pulled out the stapled bunch of papers, the application displayed crisp handwritten statements.

“As I am still quite young, I go by miss.”

“I am Japanese, born and raised in Tokyo, I only moved to Karakura as of recently.”

What are your aspirations in shopkeeping?
I wish to create a friendly atmosphere where people want to attend every shop opening. I also wish to create a well known name, in favor of my father and our history, as my family used to own an accessory store in Tokyo, and I wish to create my own legacy in Karakura.
This question seemed to be done in a quick manner, the long strokes of each letter blending into one another, as if Kōki could not be bothered to lift her own pen. This came down to her simply finding her own aspirations simple.
What certifications do you hold?
“I just finished college for a degree in Business Management and took classes for Fashion Marketing.”
What makes you qualified to be a shopkeeper?
“For starters, I have a wide history of knowing how to run a business, both through my family's businesses, and through schooling. I excel in management, and organization. I also truly want to raise a good shop, where people feel confident to express themselves, and buy from the shop because of unique designs and items.”
The pen seemed to have more confident strokes here, the woman clearly knew her own worth. Despite the short answers.
What is your backstory?
“Ah. Well. . .”
There was a pause, and the handwriting altered slightly, perhaps the woman did not know quite how to answer this and took a while on that question.
“I suppose I should just start from my childhood. I was born in a fairly wealthy area of Tokyo. My family has always been a vital aspect of my life. In my early years of education I was just any normal child. As I grew up, I helped in my father's store, and learnt a wise hobby of making my own clothing. The feel of a needle is one of my favorites, and I started to design clothes for runways when I was 16. I would not say I was a genius, but merely very passionate, and was willing to learn what it takes to succeed. I plan to do the same here. Though I say I am new to Karakura, I moved here when I was 20, and finished my college here. Luckily, I haven't had any experiences that ended super poorly.”
The question was left on a pause, not adding anything more to it. Though there was likely truth to the answer, the shortness of it left more to be questioned, and definitely there was more to the story.
