Mercury grew up with his parents as an only child in a small town in the Netherlands. His father was working for the police and his mother was a teacher. At a young age of 12, his mother got dangerously ill, the last thing she wanted was to go to Japan. While on the plane, his mother passed away while everyone was asleep. When the plane landed, everyone got out except Mercury's mother. When they asked the flight crew where she went, they only said that they found a body in one of the seats, they didn't tell anyone about it, because it would freak everyone out. Mercury and his father got to the place and Mercury locked himself in his room crying. Not eating for a month. After three months, he finally got a bit more over it and got outside for the first time in ages, they didn't want to go back to the Netherlands because of the trauma what happened in the plane. So they stayed in Japan.
