MENTAL ILLNESSES: ✧ COMPLEX POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
Also known as cPTSD, it differs from PTSD in the sense that it is caused by a
prolonged trauma, not just one traumatic event. It's harder to treat than PTSD is,
and has more complex symptoms. This developed for Zakary over his time spent
in Karakura, more specifically during the period of time where he served in criminal
groups and was forced to fight in a gang war. Due to increased exposure to situations
in which his life was endangered, as well as a lot of physical damage dealt to his
body and mind, he soon found himself, at times, lost in flashbacks. His most common
triggers are being pinned to the floor, the alleyway beside the powerplant, having
people come up behind him, and being splashed in the face with water. He's not one
to face his cPTSD head on, with it in fact being quite undiagnosed, and instead
chooses to suppress it. Zakary does not allow his trauma to hold him back from
being the best version of himself, working hard on himself as to keep from lapsing
into depravity or despair.
