What's your Minecraft Username?: CTC0
What's the title of your suggestion?: Extra Faction! Or simply a faction within a faction.

What's your suggestion?:
My suggestion is to add a Fire Department faction, or at least merge it with another already existing faction, like EMS for example.

Why do we need an extra faction?
We don't necessarily NEED one, but it would make sense in this case. Yes, I know. "Why did you suggest it if you ADMIT we don't NEED one?!?!??!?" relax, I'll get to that. Below are some images of a fire alarm and the device to sound the fire alarm, what is the point in having them there if there is no fire department? Just for realism? It doesn't make much sense. Then there's this little detail, why have fire alarms and no tsunami sirens around? Karakura is in tsunami territory, it's a regular enough occurrence for it to be just as, if not more normal than fire alarms.

We already have too many factions, no one would apply
I bet there would be plenty of people applying, at the very least to gain adult roles eventually and maybe fall in love with gaining Yen while being an adult? We can make this argument with every faction if they didn't exist before, yet they exist because they have a function, and this one can have a function too.

There's no point in having a fire department, there's never any fires, faction members will be bored.
1. Maybe there isn't a point in having a fire department, but we'll never know unless we at least try it out.
2. There are some fires on rare occasions (events), but fire departments handle more than just fires, they rescue cats from trees, check gas safety in SCHOOL buildings and peoples' homes, they educate students on some days about fire safety and what to do if a fire was to ever occur (remember that when you were in school?). a Fire Department could enable DYNAMIC RP EVENTS: controlled fires, rescue operations, fire safety drills at the school, etc.
3. Fire department factions will only be bored if the event faction allow it (fire wise), people can call the fire department on many occasions like I said above, and we also get some cool uniform making opportunities. Besides, aren't those shrine people bored? How come they have their own faction?

Are you saying you want to add an entire faction JUST so the school fire alarms make sense??
Well, yes and no. It doesn't have to be an entire faction if staff deems it too difficult to add, it can just be a sort of addition to an already existing faction. In another roleplay server I used to be a part of, EMS and Fire Departments were combined, simply because their jobs were so similar and they ended up working together anyway. Fire fighters also were regularly in charge of driving ambulances (just think of the possibilities if EMS were all offline).

That will just be more work for modelers to make new vehicles and equipment
Yes it would, which is a good thing since they're paid to do that, it'll help them out. They could design vehicles, station signs, fire safety posters, hydrants, etc.

If Police and EMS already do fire fighting similar tasks/jobs, why do we need to add a fire department?
The simple answer to this is structure and realism. While KPD and EMS already cover rescue operations, the current system can feel a bit chaotic, everything funnels through KPD, even when the task might realistically fall to someone else.
Yes it's work, but it'll be more real and SRP has been working on realism as it's main focus anyway, so why not add a fire department? Personally, given SRP's commitment to realism, it feels like a natural addition. With the things that KPD does already, it can be a shared duty, such as rescues (example) if one person needed rescuing, that would be the fire fighter's job to save them, the KPD's job to keep citizens away and deal with legal aspects of it, and EMS's job to treat injured people after the rescue.
The way it is right now with KPD doing everything seems a little chaotic and disorganized, this just seems to flow better in my opinion. This would also make emergency RP scenes more structured and dynamic, rather than placing every responsibility onto one group.

Where would we even put a building for it?
Great question! There are a few places that aren't used that much, such as; left of the hospital (your left, when you're facing it), somewhere near the church (most likely in the forest connecting to a road), or have builders redesign an entire area again.

TL;DR
Suggesting a Fire Department faction (or EMS merge) to match the in-game fire alarms and boost realism. It would allow new RP opportunities like fire drills, rescue events, and safety inspections without needing constant fires to stay active.

How will this benefit the server and community?:
Edit: Already explained this point above, apologies for the duplicate!

IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: Please keep replies civil, my last suggestion thread got locked due to unrelated arguments. Thanks for your understanding!

This has been suggested BY YOU and others, and was denied. Fires are mainly Staff related and no normal person can start fires. Therefore, having a role for fires is completely not needed. KPD already cover this.

Suggestions like this for a fire department have been denied and denied again, why? Because there is little use for a fire department as a faction itself and it's already merged inside a faction. KPD are the ones you call if there is a fire, your cat is stuck in a tree or heck even yesterday I RP'd out getting stuck in a hole and KPD came to the rescue to get us out, every reason you mention KPD can already be called for. KPD know basic first aid in the sense of being able to patch any bleeding wounds or anything till your character can get to EMS if absolutely necessary [tho no we cannot patch you int he field like paramedics can, that is their job], certain ranks have cruisers to be able to transport multiple people if needed, if really wanted you could see if KPD could even come to the school to teach students on fire safety if approved by the teacher/professor lead and KPD faction lead, so on and so forth.
SRP is also not a realism RP server, a reason to add something shouldn't be because it adds realism in my own opinion. Yes there are realistic things in SRP, but not everything is realistic.

TDLR: The Fire department is merged with KPD but there are no separate tags or uniforms as every member of KPD does these tasks. Nor should the focus of SRP be realism.

This is why I suggested either a full faction or a merged faction. If one already exists then lets say I suggested a tag for that specific purpose.

This would be one of the rare times I reply to a comment, this is already 'merged' into the KPD faction. There is no need for a faction tag for this when everyone in KPD is trained to do so. It's already implemented in the [Officer] and [Detective] tags and is part of their jobs, so there is no need to make another tag that will have no use.

I completely understand that KPD currently handles those kinds of situations, and I think it's great that they do! My main angle here was about giving those actions more visibility and RP depth. If the fire-related roles already exist within the KPD, then maybe all that's needed is a designated tag or clearer structure for players to recognize and RP with that side of things more directly. I really appreciate the detailed reply, and thank you for replying to my reply to explain things better.

There is not really much point adding a faction, (or one within another, as mentioned), to respond to things that rarely happen !

(this has been suggested many, many times before, and all denied........)

-1

This has been denied several times, even before we had fire alarms and such. The KPD are in charge of dealing with fires on SRP. This most likely will not change for a long, long time.

I think the closest KPD could realistically get to implementing this would be by creating a sub-department, similar to how the Detective Division exists in the faction’s hierarchy. This would allow them to carry out standard police duties while also being exclusively responsible for handling firefighter-related incidents.

However, the odds of this being accepted will depend on how frequently these fire scenarios occur in the future, and whether the police faction is willing to introduce specific guidelines, permissions, or roles to make firefighting duties more restricted. Personally, I don’t think it's necessary to restrict this responsibility to a few officers, mainly because the plugin is easy to use and isn't nearly as "risky" as something like the detective division (or at least risky enough to restrict its use to some trained faction workers)

Hello and thank you so much for your input. I believe my main point was realism, since that's SRP's go-to when it comes to adding things to the server.

Thank you so much for mentioning that, I'm aware that KPD do everything along those lines, which is why I thought merging factions might be a better idea. I agree that this most likely won't be added for a while, but this is why I'm putting the idea out there.

Absolutely! Thank you for your detailed response. I thought of a few loose terms like a full faction or a merged faction, mainly to give everyone here freedom to see it however they like, and as for risky jobs, I believe characters are already doing risky jobs when it comes to being a police officer (example), especially with GangRPers. I know there are a few people who love the ic drama that comes with RP, therefore a fire fighter might be the perfect role for them!

So from what I sense from the last few suggestion threads and this one is that there is small appeal to having a Fire Department.

Adding a station would probably make the city feel more realistic and immersive and pretty, with an actual Building, maybe nice big red fire trucks, and uniforms, that would definitely add to the environment. It might even create new roleplay opportunities? or more immersive school fire drills? and maybe building rescues, and inspections, which do not just rely on fires. Fire departments do a lot of safety inspection (something currently covered by town faction). Maybe it's even fun for modelers and builders, adding hydrants, fire trucks, station interiors, etc.

But, from what I've read and heard so far, it does not make a lot of sense for SRP roleplay-gameplay-wise since fires are extremely rare and almost always require staff to trigger them (to avoid abuse of the system) so a faction or sub-faction dedicated to it would sit idle for most of the time. (Like the animal vets in EMS for a whle) And since KPD already takes care of any fire related / rescue situations, and EMS handles medical work, the fire fighters jobs are pretty much covered. Adding a whole new faction or sub-faction would require new management, and new uniforms, new permissions, maybe more plugin work, and builds for very nice-to-have but effectively very little active gameplay. (Due to the lack of possible ways to commit arson as a normal student.)

And while I'm definitely a player who would love to see a fire station in Karakura just for the sake of it being there and looking pretty, there seems to be no big NEED from the rest of the community for that kind of additional realism on the server. I admit, there are some things I would love to suggest too, if it would not take away resources from established factions. I would love to suggest Corporate Offices full of Adult tag parents working in Karakura Downtown Business District while their kids are in School, but that would draw resources from actual School roleplay. Or I would love to have a Parks and Recreation office in town hall. Or a Garbage truck driving around, and people from the city cleaning up dirt from the streets and emptying garbage cans and collecting garbage bags! That would be amazing.

I appreciate your response, thank you so much! Like mentioned in my suggestion, a merged faction would totally be possible if your main concern was taking away from already existing factions. Another thing already mentioned is that fires aren't the only thing fire fighters deal with (but definately can if it was a more common event), KPD and EMS can definately still be involved in rescues while having fire fighters do the main rescuing part, KPD handling the legal aspects of a rescue (like if someone purposely put a citizen in danger) and EMS being there if someone got hurt during the rescue. Of course though, that's just an example of a scenario that could happen. Definately appreciate your neutral response though, many thanks!

Unnecessary when we have our KPD act like firefighters in very very rare events that have fires

Hello and thank you for your input! Like mentioned in my suggestion, Fire Fighters do a lot more than fight fires, they do things like; at home gas checks, school fire drills, educate people about fire safety, rescues (something that KPD does already, but can be a shared duty), and if fire fighters were implemented into SRP as a faction (or even a shared faction with an already existing faction) then fire events would likely be more common and therefore fire fighters would be necessary.
I really appreciate your reply, always nice to have friendly opinions here.

I made a suggestion about this some time ago and it got denied but perhaps instead of having a full on firefighter faction or emerging it with an already existing faction we could have it as an event role for the event team. For example if there is a fire happening (from what I have heard their pre planned) an event team member would roleplay a firefighter during the fire. This would be like how there used to be a construction worker (I personally haven't seen the construction worker I have just seen the name on tab).

That is an excellent suggestion! It honestly sounds like a much easier way to deal with this if staff aren't wanting to do the work of adding or merging an entire faction, thank you so much for your reply!
