List your timezone and country:

Describe your activity:
I've been playing SRP since around late 2021 to early 2022. Currently, I spend more time online than I'd like to admit, and split my time evenly between characters. Most of my time is spent either on my team character or the one I'm applying with, who has been involved in the GangRP/CrimeRP scene for awhile now. I tend to have a fair bit of free time, so my active hours can shift depending on my schedule or what may be needed, though I'm consistently online each day somewhere between the hours of 2pm EST to around 10 EST.

Link any significant applications (e.g., Roles/Teams, exclude languages):

What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:

My motivation lies mostly in wanting to challenge myself. I'm very harsh on myself when it comes to my writing, especially because English is not my first language, and would love the opportunity to not only improve my writing skills and creativity in general, but also build my own confidence to the point of being completely comfortable with having others read what I write. On another note, I enjoy writing things from the perspective of my character and know that I would enjoy it.

Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:

My experience with writing is all over the place. I do great with academic style writing, which is what most of my writing experience consists of. When it comes to creative pieces or thinking of something without set directions, sometimes I struggle or fall short. Aside from the difficulties I sometimes face due to language barriers, writing is a hobby of mine I've had for many years.

Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:

Yes. I'm aware of the rules, and agree to follow them.

Why should we accept you over others?:

Despite my individuality, I don't really consider myself someone who stands out, but someone who fits in with a crowd. What I mean by this is that I get along well with all sorts of people, even if I hold a different opinion or perspective. I'm unafraid of asking for help when I need it, and know my strengths and weaknesses. While my writing might not be the best at times, I go above and beyond to do the best I can, and would love the opportunity to practice in a fun environment. Additionally, during the last internships I chose to do mine at the news station to get a feel for the faction, and I truly enjoyed it! I enjoyed getting to learn about the process and interact around the news station for those 1-2 weeks, and even getting to write up my own report.

Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)

Yes, I do.

Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:

I have full confidence I'd be able to achieve this.

Summarize what you imagine work as a reporter is:

To be honest, I haven't seen a whole lot of details about the specific things reporters do. I know it's the job of the reporters to keep citizens up to date on happenings around the island via news reports, broadcasts, and so on. Reporters are expected to cover a broad range of topics.

IC (In-Character) Information:
Treat this section like it is your own character answering it

Full Name:

"My name is Andreas Asōgi. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
As the man spoke, he lowered himself into a polite bow before slowly sitting in the chair opposite the interviewer, resting his cane at his feet. Once settled, he rested his hands in his lap and met their gaze, giving a faint smile.

Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr)
"While Mr. Asōgi is fine, I much prefer just Andreas. It makes me feel less of an old man. Though I admit, my legs indicate I just might be."

Amusement briefly flickered across his face as he exhaled a softly from his nose. It was gone as quickly as it had appeared, and Andreas tucked a strand of blonde hair away from his face as he composed himself once more.

Current Age (25+):

"I turned 26 almost exactly a month ago. Still pretty young, but not so much by Karakura's standards."

Past job/work experience:

"I've had several part-time jobs at shops in Karakura, some of which I still work at. Mostly security work, some cashiering. When I was in college, I did an internship here at the news station."

Degree/qualifications:

"I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Investigative Journalism, though I admit it's not exactly the type of thing I wish to focus on reporting."

Andreas reached into his bag and retrieved his diploma, using his gloved fingers to slide it across the table for the interviewer to inspect.
Nationality and born location:

"I'm German. Born in Munich, Germany."

Phone Number:

"My phone number is (030)-862-0315."

How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:

The blonde adjusted himself in his seat, taking a long moment to respond.

"Complicated. I come in layers like an onion. I tend to stick to family and close friends, and sometimes struggle to interact with new people. I suppose I'm socially awkward, and despite my young age, am considered to be 'behind the times'. It takes a little while for me to get comfortable with people, but once I do, I open up. Not to toot my own horn, but I applaud myself on my sense of humor and ability to find a way to be civil even with people I don't like. I devote myself to my work and go above and beyond in all aspects.. even if I may silently complain about it."

What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:

"I am most interested in covering the small, everyday things. Random little events that take place. Funny, lighthearted topics, facts and advice, things like that. While this is my main interest, I won't ever say no to stepping outside of my comfort zone and doing things I'm unfamiliar with, as that's the only way one can learn and better themselves."

What are your expectations for the job?:

"I'm coming into this with little to no expectations, only what I'd like to do. I'd like to meet like-minded people and expand my social circle, and I want to be able to write reports for people to enjoy. While earning money is nice and helpful, it's not why I want this. As long as I'm able to do what's listed in the job description, I'm happy."

Do you have a criminal record? If so, list the crimes below:

A long sigh came from the man, fingers drumming against his sides.
"Unfortunately yes, I do. I am generally open about this, but I turned myself in and pled guilty to manslaughter on the basis of self-defense." He chuckled, "though at least I got to wear something pretty for my mugshot."

Fluent Languages (Underline your native):

"I am fluent in German, as well as Japanese and JSL. German is my first language and I sometimes still struggle to translate things into Japanese, but I find a way to make it work."

PROMPTS:

You will have to write two reports about a topic of your choice. Here we can see how pronounced your writing is and how creative you are. Use your own formatting and your own report idea. (If you're found plagiarizing an actual report or another applicant, you will be denied.)

#1 - General report. Report about a topic, informing players about an event or significant issues to Karakura.

#2 - Interview. It's important to have well-rounded questions. Create your own interview with ten questions or more. And answer them yourself.
Opinion on Karakura's Animal Laws
[!] The camera turned on with a click, revealing two people sitting on opposite sides of a desk. A young girl with red hair sat on one side, and Andreas sat on the other. [!]
Andreas:
[!] The blue-eyed man crossed an ankle over his knee, tapping his pen on a sheet of paper on his desk. [!]
"Good afternoon. It's lovely to see you, and thank you for taking time out of your day to talk to me. To start things off, do you mind introducing yourself?"
Marella:
[!] The girl's eyes fixated on her lap, taking a deep breath before replying. [!]
"My name is Marella Đoàn-von Moltke! I'm nineteen years old, and a student at Karakura Community College. I don't play any sports, but I'm involved in several clubs and have many jobs outside of school."
Andreas:
[!] Andreas gave her a reassuring smile, scribbling her name onto the paper in blue ink. [!]
"Thank you, Marella. I'll go ahead and dive right in - what are your opinions regarding the animal safety laws in Karakura?"
Marella:
[!] A passionate expression grew on her face as she straightened her posture. [!]
"Considering the fact there's only three, I think they're inadequate. The worst of the three only gets you a year in prison if convicted, which I believe isn't harsh enough."
Andreas:
[!] The blonde nodded his head, silently agreeing as strands of blue hair fell into his face. He pinned them back before continuing. [!]
"Following up on the previous question, do you think Karakura's animal laws are enough as they are? Why or why not?"
Marella:
[!] Her hands dropped into her lap, relaxing as she answered without hesitation. [!]
"No, I don't. The way the laws are written, there are too many loopholes and workarounds."
Andreas:
[!] Silence filled the room as Andreas jotted something down, disrupted only by the hum of the ceiling fan. [!]
"From what you've seen, do you think the Karakura Police Department enforces these laws like they should?"
Marella:
"You're kidding, right? Not in any way, shape, or form. Other than jaywalking, I think laws in place to protect animals are the least enforced. It's quite sad, really."
Andreas:
"I see. Now, have you heard of or personally witnessed cases of animal violence, neglect, or cruelty in Karakura?"
Marella:
[!] Frowning, her gaze met Andreas's, voice filling with emotion. [!]
"Unfortunately I have. I've witnessed someone murder an animal that was loved by many. I've seen others kick, threaten, and mistreat animals, and I believe people here don't understand how to appropriately interact with them."
Andreas:
[!] Hummed, taking a moment to think. [!]
"If new laws were introduced and existing ones enforced more strictly, do you think the lives of animals in the city would improve?"
Marella:
[!] A soft smile graced the woman's face. [!]
"Yes. I think it's important not only for their quality of life, but their survival in general. Not only would it benefit animals, it would benefit us humans, too. People won't have to worry as much about the well-being of their pets."
Andreas:
[!] Wrote down a quick note in the page margin, drawing a star next to it. [!]
"Do you believe the punishment for animal-related offenses in Karakura are strong enough?"
Marella:
[!] She hummed, thinking hard for a few moments, answering harshly. [!]
"No, I don't think so. For example, government misconduct carries a longer sentence than intentionally murdering an animal. Not to mention, kidnapping someone's pet gives around the same sentence you'd get for scamming someone. The system is deeply flawed."
Andreas:
[!] Andreas gave an encouraging nod of his head, resting his pen on the desk to clasp his hands together. [!]
"In your opinion, what percentage of Karakura’s population does not know how to responsibly care for a pet?"
Marella:
"Oh, um.. I'm not sure, to be honest. If I had to guess, I'd say it'd be somewhere between seventy-five and ninety percent. Of course, this includes accidentally hurting an animal by not knowing how to care for one."
Andreas:
[!] Gloved fingers wrapped around the pen, picking it up and jotting down a few more notes. [!]
"Should pet owners be required by law to microchip their pets?"
Marella:
[!] The woman leaned forward, giving an immediate answer. [!]
"Yes, absolutely. If this were enforced, more people would be held accountable for what happens to their pet. It also helps make it clear whether or not your pet has been stolen, as it provides proof of ownership."
Andreas:
"Last question, I promise. What concerns would you have if new animal welfare laws were to be introduced?"
Marella:
"Well.. as I stated before, the animal laws are too vague. So even if new laws were introduced, that vagueness could cause the same unwanted problems. First, I think the existing laws need to be re-worked and enforced more strictly. Once that is accomplished, then new ones should be added."
Andreas:
"Thank you again for coming, Marella. I look forward to seeing you around."
[!] Andreas reached out for the camera, shutting it off with a final click. [!]

Additional Information: My college swim slot is currently on my primary slot on my main account. If accepted, I'd move my swim tag to my alt account and have Reporter on my main.
