CRIMERP - A fix to an issue for smaller gangs and beyond.

What's the title of your suggestion?: CRIMERP - A fix to an issue for smaller gangs and beyond.

What's your suggestion?:
twenie's suggestion for CRIMERP

I believe that it isn't newsbreaking that people was rather upset with the CrimeRP Update delivered the other day. And, after taking a good day or so to look through all that was said, complained, and feedback given. I'd like to make a suggestion to the problem I saw come up A LOT.

This issue I saw was that smaller gangs struggle to gain a foothold on the server both presence-wise and constantly missing opportunities simply because people want to join gangs simply because they are "bigger". I can somewhat relate to this as I understand this struggle; that is in no way a dig at the bigger gangs out there, I think I've hopefully found a way to combat this.

The Reporter Faction and the Crime Faction SHOULD go hand-in-hand, since CrimeRP is one of the biggest things to actively happen daily amongst the server. And, it's also out there that there are only specific things that Reporters can report on when it comes to Criminal Activity, mostly when it's server-wide events. I believe that the faction should be given more leniency in what they can report on regards of Crime. Instead of only being able to report on the big server-wide events between gangs, and other factions, speak about how a night full of Street-Racing happened. Speak about how two Gangs collided (even if it isn't server-wide nor a huge event). Actively mark these gangs as threats to Karakura, be more on it with them. As a lot of people read the Reports, it'll be a good way to give people a good idea of what happens with these gangs and the communities, whilst also being able to take that knowledge In-Characterly.

This is just my take on it, a way I think could work to bring more light on smaller gangs, and all gangs out there really.

How will this benefit the server and community?:
This will benefit the server, and all communities involved for several reasons:

1. There'll be better co-existance between the Reporter Faction and the Crime Faction further than Reporters being associated with gangs behind closed doors.

2. Smaller and Larger Gangs will be able to have a more lenient way of getting their public stunts and small-scaled endeavours out there when put in front of the public eye.

3. Showcasing the new direction CrimeRP is going to the server through a way which they can take In-Characterly could no-doubt sway the way it's going participation-wise. People could find it more appealing and get further involved with Crime and Gangs.

I don't think there needs to be furthered faction integration with CrimeRP and GangRP, I quite like how it exists within a vacuum at current.

While I do think that this is a very thoughtful idea and would likely help smaller gangs get noticed, I also know that reporters rely on their own creativity and interests to drive them to create the reports they do today.

Reporters 100% have the option to report on criminal activity if they so choose, it's just a matter of if they're motivated to do it or not :D

Hello, Senior Reporter here. Let me first start off by saying I don't particularly agree with your suggestion.
-1 from my book

Reporters and Crime/Gangrp are connected in their own ways, as reporters are allowed to be gang members and criminals on their reporter characters. However, just like any other factions, they need to be careful with their actions. We call this, 'fuck around and find out', meaning if you play this little game of ours, you will learn what is going to come of your actions. There has never been a time that crime wasn't allowed in the news faction, I mean, what are the DeLuca brothers without their criminal actions?

If you want a reporter to report on a criminal or gang event, bring us an idea that would blow our minds out of the water, something that we would be THRILLED to report on. We have reported on things in the past, 'Mike' Akihito, the Mechanic, and many others. We just cannot simply report on every single little crime thing that happens on the server, if that were to happen we would need to report on every weapon bring sold, every gang fight that happens outside Yakedo Amai, or simply every time an underground fight happens.

Allo. News Faction Lead here!!! o/

Reporter's are allowed to specialize in specific topics, crime, economic, supernatural, etc.
As well, News is one the few factions, where GangRP is allowed, due to it primarily being a large part of the community where many amazing writers are hidden!

But it all comes down to repetitiveness!

I used to allow reports to be posted about all the small Gang related things, but after the 5th one a month. No one will want to read that, which in-turn. Demotivates reporters, because their reports aren't being read.

Many Gang related situations, also aren't very Roleplay Centric. It's /me punches, /looc /roll. Which isn't something I'd want to be written about.

But if there's an event. Where reporters and I both agree. It was a solid situation, planned well, with thorough Roleplay and future consequences, I'm always happy to have a reporter write something about it!

Events / Interactions commonly associated with News, are also ones that have repeated over the years and aren't ones that truly bring much consequence and feel uncreative

Either it being:
- Gang takes over News Station and does a broadcast
- Gang / Criminal takes over News Station, threatens reporter, because they made a report about something.

Its never truly, something that furthers the Roleplay. It happens one day and the next it's just a faint memory. There's no real interaction, it's "Do this or you die" and that's kinda it.

I am always, always, ALWAYS. Open to have people DM me about wanting to do a lengthier plotline in regards to the faction. If it's crime or any other small group, it's something I'm always glad to further!
When I took over the faction it was fairly common and made me very excited! Might've stopped because I really didn't want more people breaking into my poor station and doing a broadcast

Not a bad suggestion!! And I'm always happy to engage with the community. If a gang has shown to be promising or an individual is showing good standing within the community, I'm always happy to lend my reporters as aid :D

(Dude first news suggestion ever)

I'm loving all the feedback on my suggestion. So, a thanks is in order on that. And, I had a pretty good understanding of how this demotivates people, so I should've clarified that I DID mean when it comes to mind-blowing events. What I meant were that they could be reported on more frequently even if it isn't server-wide. There are plenty of events that happen that arent staff-backed. And, sometimes these happen near the public's eyes. I just thought it'd be nice if these kinds of "starboard" worthy events were thought off more for reports and stuff... ANYWAYS thanks for the feedback

I'm not the biggest fan of CrimeRP myself (not at all) but I admit that if I was playing CrimeRP, I would love to see it more prominently overlap with other factions, from shop faction to news faction to school faction (with delinquents) to town. If I had a crimeRP character I would probably wish for more opportunities for stoytelling and scenes which are faction-overlapping. (crimeRP can provide so much conflict and drama.) That being said, you can introduce your own Crime-focused pramphlet here in the Roleplay Document and if it's consistently interesting maybe it gets picked up by the big news faction some day?

I like this suggestion, which is an incredibly biased opinion since I’m doing something very similar!

I have a character who is focused on reporting crimes, advertising gangs, and interviewing criminals (with the help of the reporter faction since I’d hate stepping on their toes). I was preparing a long term report on a gang, but then it disbanded so I’m back at square one regarding that.

But like Aania says, a lot of gang and crimeRP isn’t the MOST rp based so finding specific events interesting enough to report on ends up being a bit of a challenge at times if its not a preplanned event.

If anyone wants to be featured in one of my eventual reports or plan out something with this my DMs are open.

Ah, I see. It's awesome to know that there ARE people who are doing a bit more towards CrimeRP within the faction, outside of events and stuff... If you still need a gang to make a long-term report on, let me know. Might be able to help with that - depending on what your looking for within the gang at least? LOL

+1/-1

Reporters should be free to report on what they like, so I feel like this may come off as a bit pushy if ever implemented. That said, it'd be nice to have more incentives and encouragement for the reporters who ARE interested in it to do so! It's pretty obvious that the faction is open to cooperating without it needing to be a server policy to "integrate" gang rp into the reporter faction, you just need to get in touch and pitch a good idea :D

It seems the majority of the faction seems to not really want to do it by force. Maybe there should be a criminal newspaper one day as a criminal business, whose job is to document upcoming gangs, how they interact, etc.? That way, people who apply to a faction to report about the beach or the supernatural, won't feel forced to report about gang rp or crime rp?

Please read Aania and Zan's replies.
I personally wouldn't mind doing more reports that involve more crime things- however things get repetitive VERY quickly and are one off things.

I have read them :/

And, yes. Although I know the smaller crime get repetitive and became irritable to report on. What I meant was the larger scale events even when they aren't staff backed (server wide) which I've stated in the replies already.

Although, what I meant by this suggestion entirely was that I believe this faction and the crime faction should definitely, somehow, be made involved outside of just "Oh, but reporters can do crime". Of course Ive taken the feedback to this suggestion and I'm happy that there are cases where if we come to reporters with a unique, MIND BLOWING event to report on, they'd gladly do so.

So, I feel like this suggestion worked out in the end.
