Previous bans:
Permanent Ban, May 23, 2023 - Attempted EULA Break: This ban was implemented after I asked to buy or trade an adult account in /ooc. This clear act of stupidity should've made it obvious that I was completely clueless about how buying accounts from other players was against the rules. I was permanently banned but had my third ban appeal accepted less than a month later, on June 11, 2023. I would be happy to detail further or explain further in DMs.

Describe your activity on the server:
Currently very active, at least two hours every day most, if not all, days of the week. My active hours vary, but when my work schedule gets solidified, it will usually be in the evenings and towards midnight. I have seven accounts, all of which are different characters, and six are actively used. The third account is reserved for adult roles I apply to, such as this application. My total playtime on the server is high.

What is your timezone?:
My timezone is EST/EDT, GMT-4:00.

What experiences do you have with roleplay?:

The Past:
Over the past several years of my history on SchoolRP, from when I joined back in February of 2017 up until now, I have partaken in various roles across the server. I remember way back when SchoolRP had /message disabled to prevent metagaming and the place everyone would hang out at was eleven-seven. Those good old days contributed to many hours of enjoyable high-school roleplay experience, including when I first got involved with GangRP. I remember MazeRP and many other fun events that were the staple of the server before Roleplay Hub was really a thing. Since then, I've left and returned to SchoolRP several times, always returning because of the allure of the server calling my name. I love it, and I always come back whenever I leave. I've devoted lots of time to SchoolRP, and I've also roleplayed as a professor, a shop owner, and a gangster. I have experience with the KPD, both good and bad, and I have also done tryouts for many sports. I've also been in college, roleplaying as a college student on my main account and attending old SchoolRP college classes.
During my time as a professor, I gained experience roleplaying as an adult. It was my first real adult role, setting aside college tags, and it was vastly different from most players' traditional high school roleplay experience, including mine. I taught astronomy, sharing my passion with SchoolRP players and trying something new. Back then, there wasn't much to do regarding teaching besides recording class logs and doing the teaching itself. There was no UT, NQT, QT, or HD. This is a while back, SRP had only been around for a couple of years and was still in its infancy. Nonetheless, it was an amazing experience and I'd do it all over again. One of my biggest takeaways from being a college professor was developing patience with people, especially the most annoying players. It takes a lot to do so, but it always comes around to help you in the end, even if it means waiting a bit. I used that rule regarding my ban, as well.
When I became a shop owner, it was definitely a long journey. I had many ideas for a new shop and wanted to bring them to life. I first tried to apply for a shop when I was a greenie in SchoolRP, unsurprisingly ending in denial. However, after a few years of playing on the server like it was my religion, I decided to go for it again and apply for a shop I named Tanoshimi. It was a karaoke bar, featuring several tables on the first floor and a bar; there were also several rooms on the second floor with TVs and karaoke machines. This was one of the most stressful but fun times of my entire SchoolRP career, albeit sadly ending in my dismissal from the role due to inactivity. My biggest takeaway from this role was accountability. Not only was it important, but it ultimately determined the fate of my shop. Whether taking and checking stock, ordering new items, or ensuring every employee was paid correctly, the role had its iconic staple in the accountability field. It was an experience well worth the effort, however.
GangRP was a challenging experience for me when I was first introduced. I didn't entirely understand the honor system, and CombatRP was more confusing than the system itself. As I got used to it, I couldn't help but enjoy the sophistication and hierarchy that went into GangRP and the interactions with the KPD. Strange as it sounds, they more or less rely on each other; without crime, the KPD would have no purpose, and without the KPD, the crime would run rampant and begin to get out of control. This was an easy realization, notwithstanding the previous statement about its difficulty to understand. Given the nature of GangRP, it was only a matter of time before I got in over my head and ended up getting characters killed. At that point, I began to leave the GangRP environment and focus more on college.
Back in 2020, college was vastly different from how it is now. There wasn't as much responsibility, and the system for academic degrees was very rusty and unpolished. It was mainly a tag to show that you put a lot of work into the server and were dedicated to it, earning you the college tags and older age. However, it still presented opportunities for growth. It allowed me to gain a lot of experience roleplaying as an adult while at the same time maintaining the idea of being in school. My biggest takeaway from this was that tags don't mean everything, and managing them effectively is key to managing stress.

The Present and the Future:
After my golden days on SchoolRP, I took a long and needed break for a year and returned just a few months ago to get back in the groove of things and get up to speed. While I'm still adjusting, it's obvious that a lot has changed (most for the better) with the server, and I'm excited to see what new experiences and opportunities await me as I begin the next chapter in my SchoolRP career. This part applies mostly to the next section, but becoming part of something new and greater than myself is something I aspire to accomplish, and I strive for success.

What is your motivation for applying?
Aside from the recent pings in the discord announcing job openings, I was originally interested in becoming part of the hospital a few months ago. I've always enjoyed medical roleplay (especially on MazeRP when that was a thing, I loved being a medjack there), and joining Karakura Emergency is a surefire way to get myself involved in something new, interesting, challenging, and most of all, exciting in that regard. There's this allure to trying new things; since I've never been involved with Karakura Town before, I believe this will be a rewarding experience worth putting time, effort, and dedication towards. I've also seen others roleplay in Karakura Emergency, and have seen many words of encouragement for people joining this section of KT. I want to get my feet wet and try something I haven't before, gaining experience and mastering this type of roleplay.
I used to know some people who worked in Karakura Hospital when prescriptions were still new and barely used. Being a part of this department wasn't particularly rewarding in terms of pay, however, when it came to experiences, it was nearly unmatched. After all, characters can get hurt in various ways, and there was always something new or different regarding medical roleplay. I deeply enjoyed listening to the stories they had to tell about how a character with a broken leg stole morphine, or how tons of people came flocking to the hospital after the tunnel got blown up by a gang (do I remember that right?). These are all experiences I want to have, and be a part of, to be a part of something wonderful.

Which role are you applying for?
(Surgeon, Doctor, or Psychiatrist):

Surgeon (Neurosurgeon)

What knowledge do you have of Hospital Work?
In terms of in-character hospital work, not much. I've visited the hospital before but haven't learned anything about the system or how it's worked. I've talked to some Karakura Emergency people about the job and what it's like, most of whom likely do not remember me, but aside from what I've read about the hospital and seen from its workers, that is the extent of my knowledge.
When it comes to out-of-character, real-life knowledge of hospital work, I have lots of knowledge. I've been in and out of hospitals for my entire life. I have an unknown, undiagnosed gastrointestinal disease, and despite many years of lab work and hospital stays, the doctors have failed to figure out what's wrong with me. During my time in hospitals, I've noted how doctors, nurses, surgeons, and the like do their work. Additionally, my mother used to do medical transcriptions, while my paternal grandmother worked as a hospital administrator's assistant, doing secretary work and scheduling appointments. On top of this are my studies in the medical field, where I minored in biology at a university I attended and became familiar with medical terminology as I did freelance medical transcriptionist work. Below is my structured knowledge of the hospital, its positions, and related work.

Hospital Director:
This role is the executive coordinator of all department heads in the hospital. The person with this job has likely been in the field for a long time, becoming extremely familiar with related work, management skills, and legal understanding. They work closely with the department heads, clinical leads, and the clinical manager to ensure the hospital is running smoothly every time, all the time, and that it does not fall into despair when they're not around. Additionally, the hospital director is responsible for promotions and demotions of staff, management of departments, executive decisions, and fiscal management. This position is likely paid handsomely, an indicator of the power and authority that the position holds.

Clinical Manager:
This person is in charge of department management and oversight of the three departments: surgeon, doctor, and psychiatrist. The clinical manager is usually the most trustworthy and responsible of the three clinical leads and is responsible for keeping the other two in check and handling all three clinical departments while working closely alongside the hospital director. This person is usually in charge when the hospital director isn't around, overseeing and managing the clinical departments and their staff and ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital. Furthermore, the clinical manager has usually been working in their specialty for an extended period of time and gaining extensive knowledge and experience to better help them lead by and set an example.

Clinical Lead:
The clinical leads keep their respective clinical departments in check, monitoring the department heads closely while working alongside the clinical manager and the other clinical lead to ensure that the hospital runs smoothly and that all clinical departments communicate quickly and effectively. The clinical lead has gained extensive knowledge and experience in their respective specialties, leading their clinical departments by example and demonstrating their knowledge and experience to newer hospital members. Additionally, the clinical leads are responsible for the health and safety of the staff and patients, ensuring accountability for all actions on the hospital's behalf and acting as consultants for the department heads. They hold much power and responsibility and communicate with the clinical manager and hospital director to run their clinical departments correctly and efficiently.

Department Head:
Those with this role have been trusted with the direct management of their department, overseeing all of the staff within and ensuring the patients' health and safety. The department heads are those who have been with the hospital for an extended period of time, holding much knowledge and having gained much experience in their respective specialties. The department heads usually replace the clinical leads when they leave, allowing new senior hospital members to move up in the ranks. The department heads also assign tasks, manage teams, and work closely with their department to ensure clear communication and effectiveness.

Senior Roles:
The senior roles of each department are trustworthy and responsible individuals who have excelled in their specialty, presenting exceptional skills and knowledge and demonstrating behavior that goes above and beyond their expectations. These people are the go-to specialists for their departments and dependable people who can be relied on for guidance, advice, and skill. Despite their title, these highly-qualified people are very similar to traditional specialist positions and are mainly recognized for their talent. Those considered seniors among the staff are generally the ones chosen to replace the department heads when they leave.

Surgeon, Doctor, and Psychiatrist:
The main workforce of the hospital consists of the traditional roles of surgeons, doctors, and psychiatrists that form the bulk of the staff. They are easily one of the most essential parts of the hospital, and there wouldn't be any medical care without them. The fact they have made it this far already means something, and they aspire to do greater things, improving upon what they already know. They are key to the success of the hospital as a whole, directly influencing the health and safety of its patients.

Attending Roles:
Much like the traditional hospital roles, those with attending roles practice in their specialties to provide care to patients, teach residents what they know, and gain more knowledge and experience in their respective roles. They work alongside the traditional and senior roles to build trustworthy relationships and effectively work and communicate in the hospital environment. Attending hospital members have already completed their required residency program and are board-certified, rendering them separate from Resident members. They are, however, still relatively new.

Resident Roles:
The newest hospital staff members are residents, who have recently graduated from med school and are completing their post-graduate training. They work under the attending staff as well as the traditional and senior roles, gaining the required experience and training to complete their residency to become board certified and be declared an attending member of the hospital staff.

All roles, regardless of title, must get a minimum of 20 quota points per month to remain as hospital staff.

Do you acknowledge that you’re subject to being demoted at any given time if accepted?
Absolutely.

Do you acknowledge that by applying for this role, you agree to be 100% dedicated to the Hospital Staff role?
I agree. I will be 1000% dedicated to this role and the hospital.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are expected to attend or you will be punished?
I acknowledge this and hope my training times and time zone schedule work for me. I accept any punishment for failure to appear at training sessions.

Do you acknowledge that you are NOT to take things OOCly when dealing with training & situations?
Of course. This has been a common and reoccurring theme across several types of roleplay and jobs, and I expect myself to uphold it here as well.

Backstory (100+ Words)
Hyun-ki was born into the world at a large but mundane hospital in Nagoya, Japan, in July 1986. Despite being born a week early, he was delivered with no birth defects and was considered a healthy baby. His mother, Yo-Min Seuk was of Korean descent and was born into a wealthy family in Busan, South Korea. His father, Takashi Zaitsu, was born and raised in Hyun-Ki's city of birth, Nagoya, to a lower-class but happy family. They met at a small bar in downtown Seoul, where Takashi was on a business trip and Yo-Min was studying at Seoul National University. Two years later, Hyun-Ki was born, receiving his first name from his mother and his last name from his father. A year after, the family moved to a town called Karakura.
At a young age, Hyun was unusually adept at memorization games and was initially thought to have autism. He was later diagnosed with OCD, explaining his ability to easily organize and memorize things. In 2016, after several years of studies and repeated demonstrations of his ability to recall events perfectly throughout his life, doctors discovered he had a rare condition called hyperthymesia, also known as highly superior autobiographical memory or HSAM for short. This condition, characterized by the ability to recall details relating to past experiences with extreme accuracy, caused him to be unable to forget his life experiences. Both a blessing and a curse, the condition allowed him to excel in his studies.
Hyun began to take an interest in neuroscience in high school, where he began obsessing over the human brain and performing several "experiments" on a group of house mice to observe their neurological behavior. These experiments, later revealed to be simple mazes with rewards, were created by Hyun to test the ability of house mice to memorize areas and recall the information to accomplish their goal. He sought the answers to his own condition, working tirelessly day and night to learn more and more about neurological conditions related to memory. This ability to dedicate himself to his task ultimately resulted in his graduation from Karakura High a year early. It granted him enrollment at Karakura Community College, where he pursued and obtained his MD-PhD in Neuroscience and Pre-Med. His dissertation, which focused primarily on memory-related neurological conditions, included a hypothesis on HSAM, drawing from the works of well-known scholars and doctors worldwide. While only briefly mentioned in his dissertation, his work eventually led doctors to confirm his condition, and he finally received the answers he wanted.
Happy with this discovery but eager to accomplish more, Hyun set out to discover as many neurological conditions as he could in his lifetime.

SECTION 2: MEDICAL HISTORY
What is your character’s medical speciality? Why did they choose this focus?
(Ensure this is appropriate to the position you have chosen)

Hyun-Ki's medical specialty is neurosurgery as part of his dedication to neuroscience, which he chose because of his condition called highly superior autobiographical memory.

What medical residencies did your character take after medical school?
Hyun-Ki started and completed his residency at Seoul National University Hospital, where his mother attended college. He stayed with his uncle in downtown Seoul and took the hour-long subway ride each day, helping to perform surgeries and assist in the study of MRIs.

Does your character have any work experience in medical positions?
Hyun has experience from post-graduate residency and two years attending at Seoul National University Hospital. This is the extent of his work experience, as he is moving back to Karakura to live near his parents and seek employment.

Has your character completed any additional schooling?
Aside from high school, Hyun went to college, received an MD-PhD, and attended medical school at Seoul National University Hospital.

SECTION 3: CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE
Describe your character; how do they look, what makes them unique?

Hyun is a tall, half-Korean half-Japanese male with a neatly-trimmed patchy brown anchor beard. It's kept short and clean, not just because it's better for hospital work, but because that's the way he likes it. He's very particular about certain things, like his beard, adding to his complicated nature. He has walnut-colored almond-shaped eyes, outlined by his dark and thick eyebrows. His tanned light brown skin is free from abnormalities, save for a small scar on his abdomen and a larger one on his right shoulder. Aside from his peculiar particularity, he is defined by his condition, HSAM, which is his most unique and interesting feature. He is unique in that sense, but just like any other, he also has small details here and there that set him apart from the masses.

How does your character act on and off duty?
While on duty, Hyun remains a professional, trustworthy, and compassionate individual, striving for excellence for his peers and patients. His drive to discover the secrets to the brain pushes him to his limits, making him seek new answers to his problems and characterize how he performs his work. He sometimes finds himself staying for longer periods of time in the hospital, performing practice surgeries and examining MRIs, proving his dedication to his work. He is more than happy to answer his questions, perform his duties, and provide insight for the younger and newer clinical workers, hoping to be a role model for those who follow in his footsteps. He is set apart by his attention to detail, which is so meticulous that it sometimes appears otherworldly. His condition, which allows him to recall events in his life with extreme accuracy and detail, also permits him to recall things he has learned throughout his life, such as challenging tests or dangerous scenarios. However, this also has a drawback, as those with HSAM cannot forget their life experiences. Trauma can be very dangerous.
Aside from telling his interesting condition-driven life stories, Hyun commonly drinks with friends at local bars and explores life's greatest mysteries. He enjoys late-night drives, parties, and especially music, which he finds himself increasingly interested in as the days go by. He can enjoy the mundane, common day-to-day activities, appreciating the littlest things in his life, making him fun to be around, and allowing him to bond with others, whether strangers, peers, or patients. His condition, which he happily answers any questions about, doesn't necessarily define him, but he allows it to be the drive for what he does and how he does it. He is an undoubtedly amazing storyteller, and relishes the feeling of sharing his experiences with others, even if it is about the time he accidentally flushed his cousin's pet goldfish down the second-floor bathroom toilet two years and seven months ago on the first Tuesday in July.

Does your character function better on their own or with others?
Hyun excels in his work independently and with others, but it appears he can function better with his peers, especially in team-oriented environments. While he can handle many tasks alone, he prefers to work and engage with others when completing any work-related activity, allowing him to learn and teach simultaneously. His work is of a higher grade when he does it with others, however, his ability to recall information in his life helps him accomplish his goals independently as well.

What plans does your character have for the future?
Hyun eventually wants to get married and have a family, hoping to do so in Karakura, where his parents currently reside and where he grew up. His dreams in life are to uncover its greatest neurological and psychological mysteries as he strives to find others like himself and increase the publicity of his condition. He would like to become a high-ranking hospital member one day, and would also prefer to stay working for as long as possible. He enjoys his work and the people he comes into contact with and hopes to stay in the hospital for a long time. He would also like to teach his children about medical work and relishes the thought of them joining the field someday.

How is your character perceived by others? How does it contrast with their perception of themself?
Hyun-Ki is generally perceived by others to be a sometimes overtalkative individual, constantly telling stories about himself and his life. He is commonly referred to as a passionate, fun person, and those he engages with say they enjoy being around him. He is a humble man, however, and he disagrees with what people say about him, saying he's just like anyone else. Even if it might be his condition that causes him to say these things or make himself feel like he needs to be normal, he also recognizes that this condition does not change who he is and does not allow it to define him. This allows him to perceive himself as a talented, dedicated individual, who enjoys the smallest things in life and brings his enjoyment into the lives of others. It's safe to say that others would say the same.
