Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
Teachers are the embodiment of what a school is. Without teachers, why is there even a school? Teachers set the foundation for the building blocks of education. As teachers it is our job to educate and prepare our students for the real world. Not only in real life but in game as well, This is a "school" roleplay Minecraft server and without teachers we have no school. Our teachers in this server educate the players of the server in one way or another that some may not realize, are helping them learn new things and potentially get better grades in real life. During life, no matter how old you are, you learn new things. As you learn new things you prepare yourself for whatever the future may hold. Being taught that no one will hold your hand in life, it is our job to ensure the kids know what they are doing when out in the real world. What happens when someone goes into a job interview and doesn't know what to do? What happens when someone is wood working and he or she doesn't know math? What happens when a parent is asked by their kid to read them a bed time story and they don't know how to read? Without these skills, you can't do any of these things. So it is our job to ensure these kids are set for life. Without teachers, who's to deny we won't see a whole new generation of animators, teachers or even writers? How about chefs?
Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?: Yes

What's your character's full name?: John Atticus Thornton
What is your character's nationality?: John is an American
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Maths
Describe your character:
John is a kind and loving man, dedicated to his loved ones and his work. His goal in life is to be the best he can be to all his loved ones and his colleagues. He is a suit and tie kind of man and although he can be very serious at times, he makes sure his niece, Nadine is well fed and happy. John is a family man and values family time as he likes to eat dinner with his niece and get to know how her day went and tries to help her with anything she may be having trouble with. He will do the same with anyone he is close with, not just his family. John will dedicate himself to any job he is put on at work and will not give up to not only educate and help students, but whatever his employers ask him to do. For example if he is asked to help discipline and abandon his soft nature for the sake of teaching delinquents a lesson for the time being in not only class but detentions, He will do so. He intends to keep his niece safe from harm and abuse. His goal is to make sure his niece is well taken care of so by the time he dies, God forbid, he can rest easily knowing she is safe and happy. These are his plans for the future.
What is your character's outlook on students and co-workers?:
John is taught to love everyone, not just his family and friends. With this being said, he sees greatness in everyone of his students and colleagues. He cares about everyone of his students and will do what he can to make sure they have what they need to go out in the world. John cares about people in general and has a genuine positive outlook on everyone, not just students and colleagues. He will even do what he can to ensure they have what they need to have a good life and go out into the world and work or study in collage. He will get to know every one of those he works besides and will be the best co-worker he can be, not just a better teacher. John, being a loving man, would go above and beyond to ensure that not only his students are happy and healthy at times, but his colleagues. He will bring in food to hand out. He loves giving treats and prizes for doing good in class. When he sees the people around him at work thriving at life, he feels successful.
What is your character's motivation for teaching?:
John, as said above, is a loving man and has always loved teaching ever since he helped his sister. He taught Emily learn to cook for the family when they were kids as their father was abusive and their mother didn't know how to cook. The kids' mother was always out anyway. Throughout John's life, he met various teachers good, and bad and aspired to be the best teacher he can be and strive to steer away from the kind of teacher who weren't so kind to him and his sister. Through helping his sister and observing teachers he not only looked up to but ones he learned from and strive to steer away from becoming such a teacher. He loves children and wants the best for not only his own kids/niece, but his students as well. John has an immense sense of joy when he sees the lit-up faces of his students when they finally get what he's been trying to teach them. John has a dream, This dream is to see at least one of his students, or any other in the school, succeed in their dreams and become the next Picasso, or Butch Hartman. I realize I'm describing the fantasy of success of a subject I won't be teaching, but John will be happy to see his students succeed in anything they pursue. He wants to see the spark of interest and discovery in the eyes of his students.
Roleplay Scenarios
A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
John is a patient man so when his students are having a tough time understanding the material, he will personally go over the thing his student is having a tough time with. He will go over the same problem the student is having trouble with and dumb it down as best he can and try to use parables to get the student to understand best he or she can. A parable for those who don't know, uses various topics pertaining to the student for him/her to better understand the material. He will go over not just the problem but the current topic John may be going over. He will urge them to try harder and give motives to get them to try harder and want to do better. His love and desire to see his students happy they finally learned that thing they have been working for drives his motivation to think up ways to help them. John is not a quitter, he will not stop until his students have learned what they are having trouble with. Patience is a virtue.
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
As stated, John is a very patient man and loves to give incentives to behave better. Patience is a virtue when it comes to disciplining children. Perhaps a 3 point warning system will help. At the beginning of each class he will state the rules and the warning system. After that he will give each student a point for every time they disrupt the class in anyway. Once the student reaches 3 points, they will get kicked from the class and shall receive a detention. Doing this will give a reason to the rest of the class to behave better. When all else fails, John will ask for help over the radio if needed. John never stopped giving his niece toddler worthy punishments as he believes subtle humiliation does the trick to teach kids to behave and respect their elders. Another method he learned is to get the entire class mad at the 1 or 2 students who are acting up. If a reward or game is offered, and there are students who are acting up, John will cancel the reward offered due to the miscreants acting up. With the reward canceled, the other students will not be happy with the delinquents, making them learn their lesson as no one wants everyone angry with you.
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
At the start of each class I will begin with a system pertaining to whichever topic I am going over. For example, multiplication, Each class I will go over each counting drills to ensure the children understand the concept as well as know their multiplication tables. As of fractions, I will offer the children cookies at the beginning of the class and use fractions to divide the cookies to distribute them to each student.
Interactive Class #1
I find playing a board game in the form of a classroom to be entertaining using mathematics. I don't have all the details just yet, however I do know the basic concept. I will choose 4 students to go about the room taking turns and rolling dice. The die will have a random math equation, and the answer will be how many spaces the player will go. Each corner will be a space the player can add points using math equations. The goal is to reach a specific number. I am thinking 100. Some spaces will be obstacles the player needs to avoid. These spaces will subtract from your overall score. Perhaps certain places of the school grounds will be better places to play games like this one. The track could be a good location, perhaps?
Interactive Class #2
Let's rethink the Finger War idea I had before and add some twists and turns shall we? I will choose 2 students to face off and think of a number. On the count of 3, both students will blurt out their number and whoever can solve the equation fastest wins that round. Each round will be a different category, Round 1 will be Addition, Round 2 will be Subtraction, Round 3 will be Multiplication and so forth. This is another game which I don't have all the details so this will be a work in progress and I will be adding more as time goes by.
