WHAT YOU WANT TO SUGGEST OR MENTION:
Use the moving piston block instead of barrier blocks. I believe these blocks apear in the process of a piston extending, but they have a much better usage... Currently fountains are kept in place using barrier blocks, this however prevents people from standing in certain places. Using a moving piston still keeps fluids in place.
More information about the moving piston: https://mcdf.wiki.gg/wiki/Java_Edition:Moving_Piston_(Block)
HOW WILL THIS BENEFIT THE SERVER/COMMUNITY?: A roleplay could be easily interupted with barrier blocks, setting up these moving pistons isnt difficult at all, simply use /setblock ~ ~ ~ moving_piston and /setblock ~ ~ ~ air to remove it. I do reccomend you maybe keep track of where the moving pistons are placed as they are not only invisible, but also untouchable.
PROS:
No more annoying barrier blocks
No one will know they are there
Fluids are stopped by them, as well as falling blocks
CONS:
Mobs AI cant pathfind through them
Hard to keep track of

This feels like a really niche issue, and more of a slight annoyance than anything else. The only place you would be prevented from standing is on the fountain, which realistically you probably wouldn't be doing regardless.

Also, these glitch blocks don't even work anymore (according to the article you linked) unless you're using it at the world border.

While I see the benefit to this, there are multiple factors to why this wouldn't really be a viable option on SRP.

Builders occasionally edit areas and delete barriers. If we were to replace all barriers around fountains with moving piston blocks, this completely eliminates the build team from being able to edit the map properly. (as you cannot break a moving piston block or place over it, it has to be removed via command) we would need to ask KimiNoUso to remove the moving piston blocks in pretty much any area we'd need to build in.

Thank you for your suggestion!

- Whilst this is possible, it would also interfere with some other features
