What are your current roles on the server? (If you're college, specify your degree level):
College Bachelors, and adult.

Describe your activity and roleplay experience on the server:
I am fairly active on SRP, often coming hoome from University in the afternoons with plenty of time to dive into roleplay (thank gawd.) My schedule has given me a better chance to be more active this semester, which I have deeply enjoyed. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to develop a variety of characters in different roles and factions. As of lately, my focus has been on Shinobu Katou, Sunako and Mizuki Kirishiki. I enjoy creating situations that challenge my characters for DRAMMMMMMMMMAAA. Beyond them, I have also roleplayed in EMS, jockrp, gangrp, and more. This has all helped me adapt to different styles and add versatility to my storylines and writing!

In your own words, why do you think professors are important to SchoolRP?
Such a cliche answer, but faculty is truly the catalysts of SchoolRP. Structure is needed for direction within the learning environment, so this will help create storylines for those playing college characters. Think about it this way, all these players roleplay having a major- Or at least the ones I have encountered. Taking lesson plans and knowledge into these planned classes, will add depth and realism to the rp. Students interact with them as mentors, or even sources of conflict- It only will help the roleplay feel more dynamic and alive. Professors are almost a bridge between the narrative mechanics of the school and personal stories of the students- But the phone works two ways. Students play a huge narrative within faculty's lives as well, as they often become an important part. It makes the roleplay immersive and very interactive.

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive, you may face demotion or removal from the faction?
I do.
Do you understand if your application is accepted, you may have to undergo professor training?:
I do.

In-Character Information

Shino.png

1772879018068.png
What's your character's full name?
'My name is Katou, Shinobu.' Fixed posture with her hands folded neatly atop of her lop. A faint polite smile offered, resting on her lips, before bowing her head with deep respect. 'Lovely to meet you.' Her gaze remained as usual, calm and attentive- giving a difficult outlook on her thoughts. Despite this, Katou's tone remained calm.

Age (Minimum is 27):
There was a tilt to her head, by just by a fraction. Violent-brown eyes attentive as she raised a brow. 'Oh!' A reaction! Katou paused briefly before speaking, as if she has answered the question countless times in formal settings. 'I am Twenty-Seven.'

Nationality:
Oh how she adored this question, and that was evident for the interviewer to note within her eyes. A subtle glisten in the violet hues as a polite smile stayed intact. 'I am Japanese. I was born and raised in a small village, outside of Tokyo.' Her hands lifted slightly, flingers interlacing with quiet care as she continued to blabber. 'I find culture to be a beautiful thing, something we all should respect. You see- I consider it an honor to represent that background in any institution I work with.' Is it not important for one to have such respect and admiration towards their own culturural background?

Preferred Subject:
The faintest spark of enthusiasm was plastered onto her face, making an appearance behind her calm and collective presentation. How rare. 'My preferred subject lies within Health and Wellness, more specifically pharmacy and medicinal sciences.' Her answer kept that quiet confidence she often spoke with, closing her eyes to nod. Such an important part of her personality. With an averted gaze, Katou continued to speak. 'Medicine is much more than science, and it is something students have failed to understand and grasp. Many wish to enter the medical field, but do not realize the responsibilities casted onto you. The ability to create, OR, administer treatments requires exact precision.' A polite smile offered again, opening her eyes finally. 'These students need discipline and to care for otheres- So, if given the opportunity, I would love to guide these students through the foundations of medical science. '

Describe the character: °❀.ೃ࿔*
How do they look and act?
1772870256929.pngKatou is young woman with a delicate yet composed presence. It appears that no matter how sharp tongue she is, people will not mind as long as she carries a smile with her words (which she does.) Her appearance is presented with gentleness and grace, but that is only the mask of a heavy disciplined and observant person. Shinobu Katou has a very refined and elegant appearance that brings a connection to her intellient personality. She is a slender, graceful, woman with such delicate features. Big eyes that remain rather blank with a purple hue to them- Slightly narrowed, and carrying an observant look as if she is constantly in a state of ****yzing the world around her. Her hair is usually styled in a bun, but a bit loose to provide her floral hair accessories into the hair-do. When down, it is met a little passing her shoulders, and ending with a purple gradient to it. What makes her visually unique is the contrast between her soft, elegant beauty and the sharp intelligence in her expression.

What makes them unique and different?
Katou appears very gentle and approachable, but behind the exterior- there is a clear hint of calculation and curiosity behind her eyes. Every detail is very important to her, and that is evident to note within her conversations. Her voice is quite soft spoken, never raising her tone with anger.. In recent practices and guidance, Katou has managed to display themselves with a polite smile but.. not so sweet tongue. Those who disrespect culture, religion, and others in sacred spaces create a nerve to be hit. A kind composure as she gives those who are bickering the option: Be silent or Katou will throw you out herself. Quick nods as they lower their voice when continuing their bickering- And that shows a certain uniqueness to character. When conflicts arise, she does not shout or escalate to such tensions. Delivering this ultimatum is not agrressive, but rather firm to leave little room for argument. That is how she presents herself. This ability to maintain kindness while commanding respect is something that makes Katou uniquely different from others. To have told a group they were being 'arrogant' and 'lacking common sense' was met with 'Leave the lady in the shrine alone, she was sweet!'
It is this blend of calm intelligence and unwavering boundaries that truly defines her character.

What are their plans for the future?
There is quite a lot of plans for her future, things that extend beyond working within academia. Shinobu cares deeply about helping others. Others she sees herself in- While she values intellectual study, she would adore to teach the practice and principles of the martial ways. It would be a dream for her to work beside her eight best friends, teaching discipline, respect, self-control, and the cultivation of character. Visions of such kendo dojo keep her going in this town, hoping that she will be able to convince many of the importance of clarity. Clarity to the mind is just as important as the physical abilities, helping students develop focus and patience. Alongside traditional budō teachings, Katou has a particular passion for fencing, which she deeply enjoys both as a discipline and as a sport... You see, Katou believes that fencing is a well representation of elegance with calculated movement and respect... Her past experiences, both painful and meaningful, continue to motivate her dedication to protecting and guiding those around her.

Optionally, what is their past?
Born and raised in a small village outside of Tokyo- Shinobu Katou grew up a cheerful kid with her older sister and siblings. Under the quiet shadow of a tragedy she no longer wishes to replay, even as a memory, her sister passed. It all went to shape her into wanting a cure, a shift- She became focused in her studies, drowning in pages of readings and books at the University of Tokyo. Sulking in the study of pharmacy research, things took a shift as she found somewhere to express the anger she so often carried. Fencing. Joining the university's team to sharpen and discipline herself, Fencing became a passion. . All Katou longed for was to protect life as best as she could.

It was a blessing after meeting a scarred, VERY TALL, male. He invited her to a dojo, tucked away in a quiet village in Chichibu, far from the city’s constant hum.. It appeared her fencing explanations hit a nerve for him. There, the Dojo's master who was ill and fragile welcomed Miss Katou with open arms. She discovered not just a place of martial training, but a philosophy of healing, discipline, and balance that resonated deeply with her own ideals... Alongside caring for their master's teachings and wisdom. With guidance and patience, she learned to better her anger- Becoming kinder and sensitive as she met the other students at the dojo. . . Spending her days eating rice balls and sweet salmon rolls alongside her 'colleagues,' Katou was able to find peace in the things she enjoyed before her sister passed. From watching two of them bicker, tasting her best friend's new desert recipes, to teasing the blue eyed gloomy student.. She did not want to give up on these hobbies and passion, which lead her to respect her masters' wishes of moving to a new city- somewhere bigger - and some day starting their own dojo together.

What is their outlook on students and their co-workers?
Outlook on Students
As stated in previous answers, Katou cares deeply to help guide students. Patience and sincere desire are given as she wishes to see them grow both academically and personally. It is much more than just delivering information, any teacher or professor could provide that in lesson plans. Katou wishes to guide students towards personal goals, discipline, curiosity, and self-improvement. Instead of controlling every step with lessons and notes, guidance is given through in-class lectures and kindness. ONLY WHEN NEEDED! Mistakes are what makes us human, and learning is a process, which is a reminder Katou lives by. Handling things calming, and bringing an encouragement of reflection rather than shame. The students she has taught at the Shrine Dojo have already brought such inspirations for care and future paths; While, she is kind and supportive, she also expects respect and effort in return! She knows not all will listen and take studies seriously. Those who are careless, disruptive, or disrespectful will quickly realize that her calm demeanor should not be mistaken for leniency. There are clear boundaries set in place for the environments she invites those students in.
Outlook on co-workers
A professional and respectful attitude. She is not somebody who thinks 'my respect has to be earned' - It is automatically offered. She is kind to those around her, wanting to get to know them.. She values collaboration and believes that strong communication between colleagues improves both teaching and research environments. It is important for all insights to be given, at the right time and place, which is why she carefully listens during discussions. Rather than hiding in corners silently, she very much engages in conversation. Supportive of them, Katou appreciates working alongside people who are passionate about their fields. To get to know those around you is an important moral she wishes to follow! Overall, she aims to maintain a cooperative environment where colleagues can work together productively while upholding respect for one another and the spaces they share.

What is their motivation for becoming a professor?

Perhaps it is because her sister was a professor who cared deeply about her students before passing.

There is a mix of reasons for her motivation and reasons. Katou has aways had such a respect and strong appreciation for discipline, study, and self-improvement. Education is a beautiful thing, or at least that is how she always viewed it to be. After years of grief and horrible anger attached to her heart, she felt determined to purse paths that could help support others. It was much more than mental support, but protection as well. Perhaps that is why she made such great friends with all those at The University of Tokyo. A heavy weight of responsibility had led her to have a clear path for her future, appearing more focus and driven in her personal goals as studies related to health and wellness dug a hard pill in her mouth for her to swallow.
When studying in Tokyo, Katou found such meaning in her studies. She realized that education could be just as powerful as any other form of protection. The concept of passing down incredible knowledge only helps develop students' self-discipline and awareness to care for themselves.. alongside others. She is able to keep all these goals and dreams alive by becoming a professor. She views the role of a professor as more than just an instructor; to her, it is someone who helps shape the mindset and character of the next generation. Helping them understand the importance of knowledge in certain aspects of education is a beautiful gift she wishes she could grant, motivated by the belief that education creates stronger and more capable people. By teaching, she hopes to share what she learned at The University of Tokyo. Contributing to a community where knowledge is respected and used for the benefit of others.

Roleplay Scenarios

A jock is ignoring your lesson and throwing paper balls at another student, what would your character do?
The lesson would be paused, bowing her head with no words as a way to say 'This will be just a moment.' Observing the situation to fully understand what is happening, without blaming the wrong student, Katou would allow herself to confirm the disruption. The student would be directed with a composed and controlled tone.. and a smile! She values maintaining a respectful learning environment, and if the student KNOWS they are not being displayed as an example for 'THIS IS WHAT WE DO NOT DO IN CLASS,' then they will be more attentive to her request. Embarrassing the student is not something she lives by; A direct, but polite warning, reminding them that the classroom is a space for learning and that their actions are disrupting both the lesson and another student. That is perfect enough to be firm, but controlled. Her expectations are clear for no miscommunications, and the situation would not be turned into a harsh confrontation! On the other hand, if things were to continue- that is when Katou would have to encounter this situation in a more structured way. If needed, the student would be removed for it is not fair to those wanting to appreciate their education and studies.
Explaining that respect for others and discipline are expectations in her class, she would go out of her to handle things with a calm authority. Katou heavily believes that maintaining composure and clear expectations is more effective than anger, and she would focus on correcting the behavior while preserving a respectful learning environment for the rest of the students

A student doesn’t seem to understand the material, yet hasn’t requested help, what would your character do?
It is safe to say she is very observant, wanting to better understand her students and their struggles to help when needed. Rather than calling attention to the student, she would approach it in a private matter. Pulling them to the side, as the rest of the class continues on the work, her goal would be to make the student feel safe about asking questions rather than ashamed. The understanding that some may be too anxious to speak up due to the fear of presenting themselves as incapable is something she reminds herself. To better help them, Professor Katou would explain the concept again in a much more simpler form; Walking them through the case studies and theories, she would help provide additional examples to see the process much more clearly. Leading from that, Katou would lead herself to bringing a Karakura 'every day example' into the explanation, helping the student understand how it could possibly play out in their very own town.
Once the student has reached full understanding, she would make sure to reassure and encourage it is very much okay to ask questions. The reminder that earning is a process and that confusion is a normal part of understanding new material..

When in the faculty lounge, how does your character act?
Katou tends to maintain the same calm and composed demeanor she shows in the classroom, though she allows herself to be slightly more relaxed in the presence of her colleagues. Even so, she still wishes to get to know those around her- WHICH IS WHY she will 100% kickstart a conversation first. Her cheerful, yet cold, smile offered to those there as Katou is polite and approachable with her co-workers! She is calm, and rather sarcastic with a few.. Those she is comfortable with, of course.
Sharing previous lesson plans, asking about their interests and hobbies, and of course- speaking about fencing and martial arts.. Katou mixes two of her groups in one within her conversations, willing to engage in friendly conversation and can show a subtle sense of humor, often delivered through dry or clever remarks! HOWEVER, Katou dislikes gossip.. sorta! She prefers to step away from it, but it is never her fault if they are speaking in a public space.. She can not control what her ears pick up on! If discussions become disrespectful or unnecessarily confrontational, she tends to withdraw slightly or redirect the conversation toward something more constructive. Rather than 'calling people out,' she very much prefers to 'call them into' explaining how their words are no fun with such judgement.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas and one field trip idea related to your subject
Prescription Case Study Simulation
'Good morning students! Today we will be stepping away from lectures and diving into the psychiatrist real-world practice. There will be four groups within this classroom today, receiving a 'patient profile.' Within this pamphlet, a series of information will be provided: Symptons, medical history, lab results. Your task, at hand, is to determine the correct medication plan based on the previous lecture. I want dosages included, and potential interactions. . ALONGSIDE, Any precautions you would take. Once we are all divided into groups, I will hand out the pages.'

Book 'page' assignment :
Patient 'A's symptoms, medical history, lab results will be presented on the first two pages.

On the following pages, these questions will be as stated:
'All Group Members Names:
Medication prescribed for this:
Dosage plan:
Potential Interactions:
Precautions:'

Patient Safety Scenario Simulation
'Good afternoon class! Hope lunch was lovely. Today we are going to focus on patient safety, helping us understand how to go about scenarios and situations. Now- There was no previous lecture on this, but do not worry. Estimated guesses are okay, because we can reflect on what we answered wrong to better help us grasp the concept... Using psychology work within this study- as you often will in the medical field, I will divide you into a few groups. Each of you will be handed a 'Patient file' to understand. . Once discussed on how you will approach the situation, each group will come up and act out the scenario with me as the patient. Your goal is to identify allergy-related risks, anticipate possible reactions, and determine steps to prevent harm'

Book 'page' assignment :
On the following pages, these facts will be as stated:
'Patients name, preferred pronouns.
Illness:
Medication:
Dosage plan:
Allergies:
Precautions:

The patients will be angry, scared, confused, too weak to speak. The groups will be graded based on their findings, understanding, and approach of the scenario. . Key learning outcome: understanding how allergies intersect with therapies, patient safety, and counseling.

Field Trip

'Gooood-and-lovely-morning class! Today we will be going on a field trip to the hospital! (with ooc permission from both leads..) Today, we will take our classroom learning into a real-world setting. We have arranged a visit to the Karakura hospital, to meet with a paramedic and psychiatrist! Please take your notebooks, or clipboards- I want us to be attentive and take well notes.'

The field trip will aim to help students understand the decision-making process behind medication selection in emergency and mental health settings. It is important for students to understand communication strategies, especially in the medical field, considering patients are often in distress and lacking the ability to appear 'respectful' and 'polite.' Warnings and instructions are important, so what better example than from a paramedic and psychiatrist!
'During this field trip, I expect all of you to be on your best behavior. NO EXCEPTIONS. These professionals are taking time out of their day to offer advice and understanding of these lessons we have been studying and researching. They are dedicating their time to your education, treat this with the seriousness it deserves.'
