Describe your activity on the server:
I am an active member within the SRP community, and I regularly connect to the server to roleplay. I have been somewhat absent recently due to an out-of-character situation and generalized burnout, but aside from that, I have remained a very active and communicative member within the factions and groups I am involved in. As for today, I am applying to law school in another country, and my situation has landed me a highly flexible job position that allows me to manage my time effectively. Therefore, I am using this free time for enjoyment. I am very active, even while attending college, and I expect to continue this way in the future. Below is a general weekly availability (to clarify, this could change from week to week due to ooc factors):

APPLICATION INFORMATION
What position are you applying for?:
Judge
What is your motivation for applying?:
There are several reasons why I want to return to Town Hall (this time as a Judge), both ICly and OOCly. First of all, I want to rerun because I feel that my character, Ji Kaizen, was meant to be in the Judicial world. His entire life was marked by involvement with the law, whether representing individuals in court, offering legal advice, teaching in classrooms, or engaging in discussions with people about the laws of Karakura. Overall, Ji is a political figure in that sense. I did not meant for him to be a character that I was supposed to fall in love with, but I am glad that I did, because not only I loved his time as a lawyer, but other people did, and that is the second reason I want to apply; people outside of the faction had been asking me if I was going to bring him back to the Town Hall and had expressed their enjoyment of having Ji there. When I left for the first time, I thought this was it. People were going to forget about this character and move on. Still, reality struck me in a very pleasant way, and their comments really moved me to rejoin the server and see if I could reapply for the position, which is why I am here writing this application. Thirdly, there is my character's icly motivation. Ji is a father now, he is not a recent graduate from the Korean university that once stepped foot on Karakura, his daughter had expressed admiration for his father due to his past as a lawyer, and he is deeply moved and motivated to come back, in a way that is the icly justification for why I want to come back. I want to see Ji's children not only have everything they need, but also see their father as a role model, and I believe this is the way to achieve that. And then, there is the main oocly reason why I want to run as a Judge. I am a (prospect) law student. One of the reasons I decided to study law is that I want to be a lawyer. My family is full of people who are either lawyers, are currently studying law, or are highly knowledgeable about it. This environment convinced me to follow their example, and I am glad I did, because I discovered a field of study that I ultimately fell in love with. This traces back to why I want to be a Judge here in SRP: I honestly felt like talking about law (and even surrounding myself with the legal world) was what I do best on this server, and I would like to improve in this area. The reason I am applying as a Judge this time is that I want to open a new chapter: instead of being the person who builds arguments in the Courtroom, I want to see what people bring to the table. It is a new challenge, like everything I am currently going through, but one I would love to take on.
Do you have an understanding of Karakura’s laws & Constitutional rights?:
Yes, I have a good knowledge and understanding of the laws and constitutional rights in Karakura.
What are your goals for being in Government Faction?:
In all honesty, I do not have many goals within this faction. The reason I say this is not because I do not value it, but rather because I want to be centered in my service as a worker rather than seeking personal recognition. If I do a good job, the recognition will come eventually. What I truly aspire to be is a good Judge, both in and out of court cases, a good public servant, and a good colleague. I will not be inclined to consider other opportunities if presented, but the primary goal within the government faction is to feel comfortable and take pride in my work. I feel enjoyment when I see an office with Ji's titles, I feel pride whenever I go to Google Docs and see all the cases I represented, and I feel immense pride when I see Ji become a father and has his daughter telling him she admires his work. I want that. I want to take the much more straightforward approach and worry less about things. I realized it makes me happy, and who does not want to be happy?
In your own words, describe the different roles of the Government Faction:
The three main branches (excluding higher-up positions) within the Government Faction are Lawyer, Judge, and Governor. Each one of them serves a specific purpose and helps the overall organization of the place. Lawyers' line of work is associated with serving individuals. Their most common role is to represent them in court cases and/or assist them in reaching settlements. Judges' line of work is related to the legal delivery for both institutions and individuals. Their main work relies on sentencing and determining 'what is fair/just and what is not.' Governors' line of work helps create a link between the government institution as a whole and either institutions or individuals. Their service is more generalized, in a sense, but they are responsible for legal documentation. Along with this, the three main roles of the faction deal with several other responsibilities:
1. Front Desk Duty / Handling ID (Lawyer/Judge/Governor)
Sitting at the receptionist desk of the town hall and greeting the people. Assist them with their needs and reach out to the appropriate worker so they can provide further assistance (or instruct them to return later) or help resolve any doubts they may have. Within this duty, there is handling IDs for individuals. The worker will ask for the person's full name, age, and fingerprint, which is taken through a scanner (itemRP), and request ¥5,000 to run a command that will handle their documentation. The workers are able (and will) deny IDs to people with inappropriate names or people lying oocly about their character's age. The procedure will need to be documented in a faction document to ensure proper organization.
2. Officiate Marriages (Judge/Governor)
The worker will take the soon-to-be married couple to either their personal or dedicated office and request a sum of ¥10,000. The worker will request the couple's IDs and verify their identities. They also need to ensure that both parties are at least 18 years old and have proof of a relationship. Once that is settled, the worker will fill out the proper documentation both icly (in a book) and oocly through the faction documents. Before officiating the marriage, they need to verify if either of the individuals is already married, as Karakura only allows marriages between two unmarried individuals. The worker will taxpay the sum through a command and hand a copy of the document to the couple. Additionally, workers can also facilitate divorces for the parties by contacting higher authorities and having the marriage removed from the records.
3. Attending Court Trials (Lawyer/Judge/Governor)
Each side plays a particular role in this task. Governors are responsible for recording the events that occur during the trial, announcing the trial's commencement, and ensuring the trial proceeds as efficiently as possible. Lawyers have the responsibility to represent their clients (if the clients decide to have a lawyer) in the courtroom on either the plaintiff's or the defendant's side. They are responsible for ensuring they have all the necessary evidence, communicating with the client, and presenting a compelling argument in their client's best interest. Moreover, they are responsible for preparing questions for direct and cross-examination, where they will ask specific pieces of information deemed relevant to the case; otherwise, the opposing lawyer has the option to object to these questions. Judges are responsible for determining whether the defendant is guilty or not guilty (liable or not liable) of the offenses they are charged with, determining the appropriate compensation/award, and ensuring the rule of law is upheld. Once the lawyers presented their case, they were responsible for creating a resolution, taking all the evidence from both sides. All the workers participating in the courtroom must be unbiased and not be influenced by external forces.
4. Survey the Public (Governor)
To be honest, I am not entirely sure if this refers to the citizens' complaints or information gathering about their opinions about the government. Regardless of that, I will mention both of them here. Governors are responsible for taking feedback from the people in Karakura. In order to do this, they need to bring the person to either their office or a dedicated one. They will take notes of what the person is talking about and fill out a Google document with all the necessary information for it to be reviewed by the higher-ups. Alternatively, the Governors are also able to survey people outside the town hall to gather information about specific topics within the government faction. The survey is gathered to be presented to the higher-ups (however, I am unsure if this practice continues after hearing that in-duty/off-duty was implemented).
5. Adoption Paperwork (Judge/Governor)
Workers are responsible for officially registering adoptions and documenting them in the official records. For that, they will need to bring the person/s adopting the child and the child itself. They will need to make sure that the parent is at least 25 years old and the child is 18 years or under, they also need to have no felonies, and proof of residency. Once all of that is checked, the worker will ask for the sum of ¥20,000, which will be taxed. Finally, the worker will officiate the adoption through a book icly and write down the necessary information oocly through Google.
6. Attorney Calls (Lawyer)
People detained/questioned/interrogated by the KPD have the constitutional right to contact a lawyer (Article 14). The lawyer has the responsibility of attending the call and arriving at the destination to assist their client. They are responsible for gathering information from both the detaining officer and the person being detained. They have the responsibility of informing the detainee about their rights (if the KPD failed to do so) and providing legal advice on how they should proceed. The citizen has the right to file a non-guilty plea with a Judge; however, the judge can accept or deny it based on the evidence. This is why lawyers are called to assist in determining if a non-guilty plea is possible.
7. Client Meetings (Lawyer)
Lawyers have the opportunity to create a list of clients (although it is unclear if this has been removed) and can resolve any legal inquiries they may have. Lawyers must operate with discretion due to the sensitive nature of some situations. Once they bring the client to either a designated or personal office, they will utilize their legal skills to create the best assessment and devise the most effective course of action for their clients. In addition to this, clients can also request that the lawyer file a lawsuit against an individual (or a group of individuals or institutions). The lawyer must ask the plaintiff for all the necessary information so they can create an assessment and determine whether a lawsuit is advisable. The plaintiff must pay the sum of ¥30,000 to the lawyer, which will be taxed, and then the worker will file the documents with a judge for approval.
8. File R.O. (Lawyer/Judge)
Workers have the responsibility of creating Restraining Orders for people who request them. They need to have enough evidence to prove that there is enough ground for the R.O. to be officially filed with the government, such as a minimum of 3 occasions where the incidents occurred, the information about the individual being accused, and proof that there was an ongoing or finished criminal investigation. After all of that, the worker must determine whether the RO can be filed, and the documentation must be delivered to each party through a book and then be logged in the faction documents in Google.
9. Build Client Lists (Lawyer)
Lawyers have the chance to build their reputation and network through clients. Lawyers offer their services to individuals seeking legal advice. Workers have complete freedom in how they log and organize their client list, but there should be a way to prove the contact to higher-ups. Every piece of information needed from the client is at the lawyer's discretion, but what is usually requested is the client's name, IGN, and phone number.
10. Issuing Warrants (Judges)
Judges will receive notifications from KPD regarding warrant requests. The worker will review the situation and determine whether there are legal grounds for a warrant, notify the officers, and bring the physical warrant to the station for the KPD to have. After that, they will log the information under Google for organization.
Do you acknowledge that upon being accepted you can be subject to removal at any given time?:

Read and agreed!
IN CHARACTER SECTION
Full name:
"Hello, again. My name is Ji K. Kaizen."
Preferred title (Mr., Mrs., etc.):
"It should be Dr. Kaizen now, but I would much rather go with Mister. Mr. Kaizen."
Current age:
"I am 32 years old. Time does fly."
Date of birth:
"I was born on November 15th."
Academic Background:
"I have a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice as a major and Philosophy as a minor at the University of Seoul, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) at the University of Seoul Law School. I was given a full scholarship for my Master's of Laws (LLM) degree at SNU. Once I left Karakura, I decided to expand my academic knowledge and completed my Doctor of Law (LL.D.) at Kyushu University in Fukuoka."
Work experience:
"I worked at a local law firm in Seoul for around three years while I was doing my LLM. The company focused on business, tax, and, in some cases, other areas of civil law. I worked as an accountant and was delegated to work on settlements." - "Once I complete my LLM, I worked as a lawyer for the Karakura Government. I am sure you remember me. Worked under the leadership of Goemon Asōgi. Competed for the Attorney General position, before being dismantled, and earned the worker of the month award multiple times. My work was primarily focused on providing legal advice. However, I represented clients across a significant number of cases during my time in Town Hall." - "I left Karakura and spent five years in Fukuoka as a professor at Kyushu University, teaching Criminal Justice at an associate level in my first two years, before transferring to the Law department at a graduate level. I finished my contract and became a law professor at the local college in Karakura."
Nationality & born location:
"I am Korean. Born and raised in Seoul until I graduated and moved to Japan. However, I do have Japanese citizenship."
Criminal record:
"My records are completely clean. Not a felon, nor do I plan to be one anytime soon."
What makes you a good candidate for this job?:
"I am a good candidate for this position due to my academic background. I have spent years of my life earning my Doctor of Law degree, as well as being a professor and being qualified to teach students about the topic. As I mentioned six years ago, being a good candidate does not always have to do with their title. I still believe that there are incredible people out there who, for various reasons, do not have the time or resources to earn the recognition they deserve in the field of law. Secondly, I have the experience. As I mentioned earlier, I have held a wide range of positions in various countries. I am a qualified individual when it comes to this line of work, not only because of my theoretical knowledge, but also because my background experiences can serve as proof of that." - "I worked here before. I was known for the wide range of clients I represented in Karakura and the numerous cases I handled on their behalf. My professional record in that court is also another good reason why I am a good candidate. It is spotless. Never lost a case. This shows my abilities in litigation and legal knowledge. Needless to say, my records serve as proof of my being a reputable individual. These are the sort of things that are not only expected, but required when you apply for a position as important as a Judge. Committing a mistake as a Lawyer versus committing a mistake as a Judge are two completely different things. One can lead to your client losing the case, but the other can lead to getting a guilty person out of jail, or even worse, putting an innocent one inside. It is a job that requires expertise and a great amount of knowledge, and my background serves as a reason why I should be taking this position." - "In a more personal standpoint, I am a passionate individual when it comes to this field. I always set high expectations of myself and want to perform to high standards, especially when we involve ourselves with the citizens of this city, who occasionally lose hope in the public services provided to them. All that I said has been shown in my work here, when I was a lawyer in this place. Finally, I am a good candidate for this position not just because of what I can offer to the people, but also to my peers. I love helping my colleagues and ensuring they operate to the highest standards. I do not only want the best for myself, but for the institution as well."
