What is your motivation for applying?:

I want to join the Police Faction for a variety of reasons. One of them being one of the factions that I have always wanted to join. This faction has always inspired me. Ever since I have joined SchoolRP I have always wanted to roleplay with members of the Police Faction. I even have quite a few friends within it and their everyday experiences make me want to join it. I have always been in GangRP and the second that I saw that announcement I told my gang leader that I couldn’t stay because I wanted to apply for this faction. Additionally I want to make more friends who aren’t exactly Crime Roleplay players. I also wish to create new roleplay opportunities for myself and up my reputation. I also believe that those who are in the Police Faction make a genuine difference to the server from an In Character point of view and I really want that for myself. I also have to admit that I have never prioritised anything over GangRP and for once I am genuinely prepared to do so. I really think that the Police Faction is the one for me.

What knowledge do you have of Police Work?

TASKS:

Detaining suspicious individuals;

The Karakura Police Department must detain individuals who are deemed suspicious. A Karakurian can be deemed suspicious for quite a few reasons, the most common being either that they have been reported to the Karakura Police Department for a certain crime but no proof was provided so the officers must detain the supposed criminal to investigate further. Or they were victims of an assault and so the KPD want to find out why they were victims, they have to find out if they were partaking in crime and had done something wrong to the assailant or if the victims are true victims of an unprovoked assault.

Executing search warrants;

During some arrests, some individuals are charged with possession of illegal weaponry, this leads the KPD to believe that these civilians are hoarding more suspicious or illegal weaponry such as bats, ballistic face masks, katanas, nagitana and more. So they must get a Judge to lawfully sign off on a search warrant. Once they have received one they will regroup with a certain number of their colleagues to enter the property either with whoever is there’s consent or forcefully by using crowbars. Once broken into they will search for illegal or suspicious weaponry that’s either in plain sight or hidden in secret compartments of the property.

Arresting wanted individuals;

Sometimes the Karakura Police Department must arrest criminals who have either escaped a tricky situation where they were about to be detained or arrested which is where they are considered as fugitives. Or they must arrest criminals who have simply broken the law right before them or who have broken the law but there is evidence of this crime. After being arrested they are brought to a cell and the arresting officer will come up to the arrestee and will read them their rights. After this they will explain why they have been arrested and request them for their plea; if they plead guilty or non-guilty. If they plead guilty they will be sent to the mainland, if not they will have to wait for their lawyer, converse privately with them then be sent to the mainland.

Taking reports from Karakurians;

Occasionally officers must stay at their Station’s front desk to assist civilians with their day-to-day issues. Whether they need to report another civilian or they have questions. If an individual requests to report another, they will be pat down at the designated area then brought to a special room where one or two officers will take notes of the reports. After hearing what the civilian has to say they will ask if they have any proof of this crime or if it happened somewhere where CCTV could have caught the entire situation. Additionally Officers will ask the one who is reporting for their name, phone number and sometimes their relationship with the one they are reporting.

Responding to emergency situations;

The Karakura Police Department offers a hotline where civilians can call and request help. Most of the time this line is misused but occasionally the threat is very real. Sometimes individuals are in actual distress so the police must act with haste. Criminals often knock out these victims with metal baseball bats however on rarer occasions these callers are in the midst of being stabbed or majorly assaulted. These situations are taken a lot more seriously because a civilian can get gravely harmed. Sadly Sometimes officers of the Karakura Police Department arrive too late and the victim is already stabbed. If a civilian is already stabbed then officers will radio for the Hospital to stand by at the ready in their lobby for their arrival. The officers will bring the victim to the hospital and then one or two officers will stay to question the victim upon consciousness.

Take care of inmates;

When criminals are arrested they occasionally receive visits from colleagues, co-workers, friends or even family. These visits are rather short and very strict. There will be no talking in a different language, no threats and no acts of violence. After the visits the inmates usually are sent back to the mainland but sometimes the ferry is late or isn’t coming back for an extra few hours. During this time it’s the officers job to entertain these inmates in order to not make them bored and violent. Most of the time they will play volleyball with them in the courtyard or let them fish peacefully. Then once the ferry arrives they leave back for the mainland.

Patrolling around the city;

One of the most common things that civilians see officers of the Karakura Police Department do is patrol around the city. This is where they catch criminals most of the time. They catch these law breakers red handed while they’re minorly or majorly assaulting an individual. Sometimes they also respond to emergency situations requests via the 110 hotline during these patrols. Sometimes they pop in to say hi to certain government workers but only for a little bit. They’re very focused on their job and are prepared to enforce the law to any legal degree.

Interrogating suspicious individuals;

When civilians are detained it’s because they are deemed suspicious. The Karakura Police Department strives to fish out any necessary information from the civilians. They will try to find out their relationship to any known criminal and generally interrogate them on the situation that they were detained for. Officers will try to pressure this detainee to admit to the crime that they had supposedly commited. Once they confess to this crime they will be processed into the system. However sometimes these interrogations are unsuccessful and officers don’t gather the information they need; usually the detainee is released back into the city but sometimes they are kept longer to interrogate any supposed associates.

Filing town logs;

After processing a criminal into the system the officer must send out any guilty or non-guilty plea to Town Hall. If the criminal states that they plead as non-guilty then a lawyer will be radioed to come and represent their client. The client and the lawyer will converse and then the criminal will be sent to the mainland. After that the Officer will have to explain everything that is needed to the lawyer in order to make sure that the lawyer has everything, this will also come in the criminal’s file alongside the charges.

Attending most trials to ensure protection;

In most trials, officers are asked to come to ensure the protection of the government officials and to enforce order and the law within Town Hall. This task is important because the officers mustn’t get distracted, any casualty will be on their hand. Each officer usually has their tasers out so that if anything happens that requires immediate response they would taser any danger, for example someone who runs into Town Hall masked and armed. However the Officers aren’t permitted to immediately shoot their Tasers, the threat must be credible, the assailant must try to actually harm someone who tries to run away.

Why is Police important to SchoolRP?

The Police Faction is one of high importance. Even if SchoolRP is a server that is focused around school, police intervention is often required in emergency situations. In addition to this having Police within a Roleplay server adds a severe level of realism within it. It makes people believe that their actions have consequences, that they cannot just run around and do whatever they wish to do. It would not be possible to have a Crime and Gang Faction without having a Police Faction.

In-Character (IC) Section;

What's your character's full name?:

Upon entering the room Ashton bowed before the interviewer; a common courtesy in Japan. He listened attentively to the interviewer’s question then opened his mouth to speak. His voice came out firm, calm and had a spark of confidence. “The name’s Ashton Jin-Ryuk Mora.” He replied, his eyes trailing the interviewer’s face to look for any sign of discomfort. He tapped his finger tips onto the table patiently, his eyes darting around the room, ****ysing his surroundings.

How old is your character (if accepted)?:

He nodded along whilst the interviewer asked his next question. He adjusted his tie, making sure he was looking dapper. “I am currently at the age of forty two.” He replied, a light hint in his tone that this wasn’t a difficult question for him.

What are your character's gender and pronouns?:

He thought for a moment, processing the rapid oral questionnaire making sure not to mishear or not hear anything. He ran a hand through his hair. “I am a male, I go by he/him.” He explained, thinking that it was pretty obvious. His eyes kept darting around, noticing some random details, like how the clock hadn’t been moving, or how a book was out of place on the mini shelf.
Please select your highest academic role at the time of writing this application:
(Grade-12/Bachelors/Masters/PhD):

Whilst the interviewer was speaking Ashton had already understood the next question; his degrees. He pulled his briefcase from the floor, setting it onto the desk. He carefully unlocked the front and pulled it open. Inside laid a variety of different papers, including his bachelor's degree in criminology. “I have a Bachelor’s degree in criminology.” He explained, pushing the certificate towards the interviewer.

What languages does your character know besides Japanese?:

A soft chuckle escaped his lips. As he shook his head at the question; were all the questions this easy he wondered. He composed himself and opened his mouth, his voice still full of confidence from earlier. “I currently also speak Spanish. I learned the language because my mum made me learn it to get closer to my family’s heritage.” He explained, performing gestures with his hands to get his point across.
Describe your character; how they look, what makes them unique?

Description;

Ashton stood before the interviewer at an impressive height of six foot four. His chiseled muscles would be hard proof of his intense work-out. His arms and abdomen would flex under pressure. His fiery amber eyes would light up any room, his nose would be nicely centered and his mouth would also carry a soft smile. A mysterious yet calming presence would be tucked within him. He would look like a calm, understanding father. Ashton would be one of the older men willing to join the KPD, the things he’s seen in life pushed him to become an officer, his interests align with them and he’s always wanted to help the unhelped. A smell of fresh cookies would cling to his skin. He would look like he had a strong paternal instinct. His white porcelaine skin would illuminate every room and any room.

Uniqueness;

Ashton could be easily spotted as a father; his voice is so gentle and firm that a crying toddler would listen, a disruptive teenager would not keep disrupting and a criminal would freeze. It doesn’t matter if the individual is a toddler, a teenager, a young adult, or a criminal. Everyone needs to be talked to with respect and consideration. Ashton is someone who has lived in many different situations, he knows and has seen things that ordinary people will probably never. Growing up, life was hard in poverty but he made it out with determination. His resourcefulness and street smarts are what helped him to escape his past. He’s someone who is very smart and knows how to handle himself. The academy trained him to be able to fight and not back down or run away during life or death situations.

How does your character act in a professional/casual situation?

Tugged on his tie slightly, tugging it back into its proper place. “In a professional environment I will obviously stay incredibly professional. I would never be the one to embarrass my co-worker during an interrogation or be the one to trip my fellow officer up during a chase. I think it’s basic human respect.” Ashton genuinely felt that in the midst of a professional environment that it was basic human decency to respect his fellow officer. He would stay composed and serious. “On a side note, during casual situations I will make jokes with my co-workers, tell them funny stories, and obviously be way more relaxed. Since it’s a relatively stress-free environment.” A chuckle would surpass his restraints, Ashton was already a father of one and his dad jokes were quite terrible. He honestly looked forward to hanging out with his fellow co-workers during stress-free situations.

What is their outlook on the idea of co-workers & teamwork?

Ashton’s gaze settled onto the interviewer’s for a split moment. He spoke softly but firmly. His voice would still be full of confidence. “My co-workers are people who have proven themselves. If they are here working by my side or even if I am working from beneath them, it means that they have proven themselves capable and worthy. I have immense respect for anyone who is a Police Officer, the job is difficult so only those who are truly passionate could possibly keep up with the work load.” He paused for a moment, a flicker of light shined into his eyes, was it hope, perhaps a dream. “I am all for the idea of teamwork. Without my co-workers I could very much die any given day.” - “If I have to sacrifice my life for someone, it would be someone who I know would do the same for me.” He tapped his finger nails onto the desk top.

What's your character's backstory?

Early Life;

Ashton was born in the countryside of Osaka, right on the Nishinari-ku territory border. Nishinari-ku is one of the twenty four poorest Japanese territories. Its countryside is anything poorer and rougher. The criminals roam the streets as if they own them. Quickly Ashton learned that being a snitch was his only way out, he much preferred the government than the dirty criminals. Growing up Ashton had an obsession with Karakura, a Japanese island or paradise, or so they say. He had read stories about corrupt majors being brought out of political power and that now finally tranquility ruled the island. During his entire life Ashton helped the police catch lowlife criminals, smugglers, minor black Market Dealers and some assailants. The police took great care in their informant's secrecy to ensure that no criminal would find him or discover his aiding the government.

His father left them when he was five, a fancy job in Tokyo. He promised he would call them, promised he would be there for them financially. But he lied. It was at the age of eight that Ashton truly understood that they were abandoned by their father; that the man he once looked up to, had abandoned his mother to raise two male children alone. Ashton and his brother Samuel didn't help the situation either, they were terrible, constantly lashing out at their mother for things that she could afford for them.

Ashton was fifteen years old when he finally got a job to help support his family. He worked as a waiter and as a delivery boy. While Ash went down the government path, helping them in every way, his brother Samuel chose the criminal life. Samuel joined a local Yakuza; Ranzenkai. One day while entering the local police station to deliver more intel, a few officers were arresting the leader of Renzenkai. The leader immediately recognised Ashton and chuckled to himself. After leaving the building he completely forgot about that incident. A few days later, Ashton was looking for his brother in an abandoned warehouse when he saw him laying on the floor lifeless. A note tapped to his forehead ‘snitches get stitches’. In despair Ashton ran home, packed his bags and left for Karakura, the paradise island.

Education & Development;

The university that was chosen was a small one near his apartment. Money was still tight because of running away so he got himself a part time job at a local Indian restaurant. Due to his smarts, Ashton excelled. He never knew that this material was so easy; in no time he became top of his class, praised by classmates and professors. Throughout the years, he had a romantic relationship with a French woman named Eloïse Mora. Their relationship grew over the years and at the age of twenty Eloïse became pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful young girl. Together they decided to name her Andromeda Mora. Sadly after the birth Eloïse folded under the pressure of having a child and ran away during a stormy night. She got onto a ferry to leave Tokyo but the ferry went missing and Eloïse was never heard from again. Police named her dead. He graduated top of his class, Valedictorian. During the Valedictorian speech, Ashton dedicated it to his lover who had perished. His professors always praised him for not folding under pressure and staying calm in stressful situations.

Life-Changing Events;

Ashton's mother never understood why he ran away sixteen and where he other son had gone. She turned to the leader of Renzenkai and asked him directly what happened, the leader furious that Ashton had ignored his threat decided to send him another message. Once again, in his early twenties, he lost another loved one. His mother. He grieved for days, bawling his eyes out, blaming himself for leaving. Most men back in Osaka would seek revenge by violence, but not Ashton. Ashton turned towards the government, with the help of his old contacts he led an investigation where they finally caught the entirety of the Renzenkai Yakuza. So proud of himself, he moved to Karakura to raise his daughter in the peacefulness of Karakura.. To ensure that his daughter would only be met with a healthy environment.

Moral Compass;

Raising a daughter on his own was really tough. Her constant tantrums for wanting things that he could never afford was really difficult. He absolutely loved his daughter, he worshipped her. Seeing her cry slowly tore at his soul but he knew that he couldn’t raise her to be one of those Karakura rich spoiled brats. He raised her to appreciate the little things in life and taught her to be respectful and kind to everyone and anyone. He also always explained to her that actions have consequences so when she would ever misbehave he would always punish her accordingly. His daughter whose name is Andromeda was quickly nicknamed Roma by many peers and her very own father. Being a single father taught Ashton to emphasise people but to not be naive, he knows that with discipline, understanding has to come with it. He thinks that having conversations instead of arguments or instead of actually getting physical is always better. Words affect the soul better than pain.

Experience Before the KPD;

To raise Roma properly he had to get a job. He needed money to be able to afford rent; groceries, presents and even sometimes a night out or a special gift to Roma. He poured his sweat and soul into making a really special and heartfelt resume. He applied to become a security guard for a private business and to become a private investigator. He chose both because they fit into his schedule perfectly - He worked during the day as a private investigator for a special private firm and by night he worked as a security guard, protecting the docks of Karakura. He sadly had to miss quite a few of Roma’s special events, such as football games and talent shows. He always made up for it by buying her something really special, something that she wouldn’t forget. He once gave her a trip to Greece after she won a beauty pageant.

Working as a Security Guard and a Private Investigator built himself a solid reputation for being able to handle conflicts quickly and peacefully. He was also always praised for spotting suspicious behaviour immediately, making his job really efficient. He had gotten really good at both of his jobs that he climbed up the corporal ranks, he then quit the Security firm after receiving a huge promotion for the Private Investigating firm. This new job added more hours and better pay, so this allowed him to quit the other one. He was also in charge of mentoring the younger workers and teaching them restraint and respect. This proves that his paternal instincts are truly present.

Turning Point;

One day a phone call came to Ashton; his old contact in the OPD, Osaka Police Department. They told him that the leader of the Renzenkai Yakuza got released because the government had suspiciously lost all their evidence and the leader’s lawyer argued about that in court and the Judge ruled non-guilty. Ashton knew that things needed to change, corruption had to stop so he decided to enroll into the police academy. Once he graduated with once again honours he was recommended into the Karakura Police Department. His maturity and self-discipline are the two details that made him stand out among younger recruits.

1762962900912.png
General knowledge;

Can you legally own a pocket knife in Karakura?

Ashton realised that in this part of the interview he had to stay serious and professional. “No, a pocket knife is considered to be one of the few illegal weaponry. This charge will land the individual in jail for three months.” He hummed, knowing this information like the back of his hand.

Name 5 medical items that do NOT require a prescription

He grinned knowing that they explained this to him in the Academy. “Multivitamins do not require a prescription because they aren’t harmful and are usually for dietary restrictions.” - “Iron Supplements also do not require a prescription since they are used to reduce iron deficiency.” - “Melatonin doesn’t need a prescription because it helps the individual to sleep.” - “Paracetamol is given out without a prescription because it is a temporary reliefs the user..” - “And last but not least Aspirin does not require a prescription because it is used to cure headaches.” A smile appeared one his face.

If you see your co-workers physically abusing an inmate, what should you do?

His eyes widened at the question, all the questions that he actually expected did not compare to this one at all. “If I see one of my co-workers physically abusing an inmate I will make sure that my bodycam is on and record the entire situation. If my co-worker is capable of breaking the law then who knows what they would be capable of if they find out that I know of this incident.” He pondered for a moment, gathering his thoughts. “Then I would bring the information to the Commissioner and pray that he would take care of it.” - “Loyalty is important but so is the law; we are here to enforce it, not break it.”

What should you do if you see your co-worker being assaulted?

Huffed slightly, now that he knew what type of questions were coming he was ready to answer them. “If I see a co-worker being this time assaulted, I would pull out my baton or my Taser depending on the situation and tell the assailant to stop right there in their tracks, if they would try to run, I would tase them, if they would charge at me I would attack with my baton.” He explained carefully.

What do you do if you find out that your co-worker is corrupt and is helping criminal organizations?

Ashton thought for a moment; preparing the perfect answer to this tricky question. “I would document everything. I would record any interactions, gather evidence then take it to my Captain and from there my Captain can decide what to do with it. Corruption is a plague and I do not intend to be the victim of it.” - “We are the Karakura Police Department, we enforce the law, we do not break it.” He repeated once more.

How would you react to a criminal trying to bribe you?

I chuckle slightly. “If a criminal tries to bribe me, I'd explain that I do not take bribes. I am morally incapable of breaking the law, only enforcing it.” His confidence faltered slightly as he wanted to add in a joke but hesitated. “In fact I would ask them for ten million yen, and not a single penny less.” - “But in all seriousness if they did have ten million yen I would still refuse since corruption is wrong and not something I wish to partake in. I actually want to stop it to the best of my capabilities.”
