Describe your activity:
I originally joined SRP in 2022 before taking over a year-long break, rejoining in late 2024. So far I’ve had a lot more fun than I did previously, trying to get more involved with the community and making more characters I hold dear to my heart! I spend most of my time on SRP when I can, and I’m most often available throughout any day unless stated otherwise.
I am a little addicted to this server and if I’m not online I’m usually doing something SRP related like developing a character or writing an application. (Like this one!)

Psychiatrist Application - ACCEPTED
What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
The reporter faction was the first faction I set my eyes on when I wished to delve into the other sides of SRP. It had caught my eye before I’d done applications for anything else (excluding languages) or gotten involved with anything more. I’ve always loved writing, clear to see from how even when I was younger I gravitated towards the journalist courses at summer camps and pestered my mother about her experiences working as a journalist.
Months ago, almost half a year now really, I’d begun to write a reporter application that still sits unfinished in my google docs. . . Though I do wish I’d done it earlier, anxiety and doubt in my own abilities made it impossible to click that submit button. What if I got denied? What if I got accepted and couldn’t handle the responsibilities? What if I was too afraid to talk to people and do the one job reporters kind of need to do? Questions like these ran in my mind over and over until I simply put the application down, something I regret now. Over time and getting involved with other factions and clubs on SRP has made me fall in love with this other world, gaining the confidence to banish these anxious thoughts and try and reach out to a new side of SRP, one that even getting involved with EMS and the Sports faction haven’t brought (though I still do love them!)
Maybe it was the amount being accepted this time around, maybe it’s how I’m not as afraid anymore, maybe it’s how friends I have who’re in/been in the reporter faction talk about it, but I dragged out my pen and put it on the page to finally write out this application I’ve been wanting to since I joined SRP.
Even if I do get denied this wave, I know I will be applying again once I can. I genuinely want to be part of this faction, to bring to life these characters so entwined with journalism and writing, even if it could take a few tries to get in.
Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
From years of writing stories, getting involved in short story and writing activities as a kid, creating DND campaigns, holding DetailRP close to my heart, and generally growing up surrounded by reading and writing has made it my favourite activity. Why have I gotten into roleplay? Because I love writing. Spinning words onto a page, whether that is for a book, an application, or a project, is something I do constantly. If not on SRP, then in my google docs, if not there then someone’s dms (yapping may be my other favourite activity), and if not online then in one of my various journals I have dedicated to writing. Maybe it’s just me going towards what I’m most comfortable with, but SRP so far has let me go towards things I genuinely love, it’s let me have fun with psychology and the medical side of roleplay (EMS<3) but now I could also include my genuine appreciation for writing in any form.
Maybe I could provide examples of my DetailRP, but then I feel as if we’d be here for far too long (though I absolutely will do a little in the IC section, what’s the point of writing as the character if I don’t have fun with it?) and I’d have to pick and choose what would be my favourite. . which is a little hard to do!
Sure, I have other hobbies. Art is fun, gaming and hanging out with friends, music, any other random interest I can get my hands on. . . I can say I appreciate those, but none will hold up to my passion for writing in any form. I can never say any of those will take the place of something that I have such a relationship with. It can be a little love-hate at times. . . the days I’ve spent banging my head on my table trying to figure out what I could write next on this page before just moving on, forgetting how to grammar mid paragraph and staring at the screen for a solid second before realising I just need sleep. It’s tough, but what fun interest isn’t?
From being a teensy little seven year old determined to write their first book and become an author to being where I am now with characters I love and getting involved in things that let me stretch my skills and have genuine fun silly times.
Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:
Yes! I don’t plan to break any rules.
Why should we accept you over others?:
I’m not exactly a fan of criticizing others abilities and acting as though I’m the best of the best. I’m quite sure there’s so many others applying that would be just as good for the job, if not better, but I’m still gonna fight for my case as much as I can!
I have experience in team settings - especially on SRP - and working with others or by myself wouldn’t be a problem! I’m flexible enough with my schedule and able to show up for events or when I’m needed. I plan to be on this character as much as I can be and develop his story beyond just what I’ve created so far. It’s almost a desperate need to get involved with this world I’ve wanted to be in for so long, to the point I will physically fight someone (this is a joke. I won’t actually. But I might come close!. .) I can complete a task offered to me and try to get involved with as much as I can, so side tasks and volunteer work, or if someone just needs a bit of help.
Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.):
I understand this, I don’t plan to show any bias towards any group or thing - those I do have opinions on, I won’t show in my writing.
Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
I plan to stay active and fill out reports, considering the fact this is my dream faction job, my motivation has SKY-ROCKETED to fill out this work.
Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is:
The first to run to the streets at the latest disaster or event, interviewing, wrangling information out of even the most untalkative, and placing it all on the page to clear the confusion and give entertainment to the masses. Seeking out topics to write reports on and publishing them for the public, whether that’s the latest drama or the interesting citizens of Karakura. Doing broadcasts and entertaining the city with something that isn’t just boring ol’ “The weather is clear. It’s 30 degrees Celsius. Have a lovely night.” but being INTERESTING! Providing the people with the latest gossip of the city or opening their eyes to new spots and history not previously touched on. Taking care of the writing and informing aspects of ICLY SRP.

Full Name:
Each movement was slow, careful, as he slid from the door to the chair in front of you. The man smiled, the expression softly pairing with his kind features. “Elin Laitinen.” He extended one relaxed hand out, the smile eternal on his face. “Lovely to make your acquaintance.” His voice was soft and light, dancing in the after silence like dying embers.
Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr):
Tilting his head only slightly to the left, pale hair falling in waves across his shoulders, he took no time to answer. “Mr. Laitinen. Or simply Laitinen works too. Only those close to me may call me Elin.” Despite his gentle tone, he seemed rather firm with this rule.
Current Age (25+):
He paused. . this he seemed to need a moment to remember?. . He really didn’t seem that old. “I am forty-nine years old.” He looked more like he was in his early twenties than late forties. . . what skincare routine did this man have?
Past job/work experience:
Leaning back into his chair, sinking into the assumedly comfortable material, arms resting on either side of him. He flicked his gaze from where it had trailed to the window back to you. “I worked as a History teacher in Finland during my early twenties. . . late twenties I moved to England to work as a History teacher in a secondary school just along the coast. . though, I realised that job wasn’t for me.” An edge of sorrow to his voice, reminiscing about a life that never quite was!. . “I jumped through a few jobs. . Once landing one as a journalist for the BBC, staying there for a few years until moving to Japan. I stayed in Kyoto after a piece I’d read online sparked interest in their rather extensive history - where I spent my time as a freelance journalist before moving here.”
Degree/qualifications:
Laitinen hummed softly. . his fingers gently tapped in a pattern against the side of the armrest - his nails were painted a pale sage green. “I have a Master’s degree in History and a Master’s in Education. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism.”
Nationality and born location:
“I’m Finnish. Born and raised in Savonlinna, Finland– beautiful place, even if I didn’t really stay there for long,” a quiet sigh fell from his lips. . The more he spoke, the easier it became to pick out a faint Finnish accent. Though fading, it became obvious once noticed.
Phone Number:
“Ah! One moment. .” Suddenly rummaging through his pockets. . something was mumbled under his breath in Finnish - perhaps a curse - when he failed to find whatever he was looking for- Aha! Pulling out a small card from his pocket, he placed it upon the table. . . Simple in design, a few flowers etched into corners along with. .

How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:
Tracing one nail against the desk, he glanced up to you once more, eyes trailing from your face to some spot behind you - distant. . thinking. . . “There’s a lot I could say about myself. . but I suppose what you may be searching for are the traits required for this job. Well. . . I believe I am resilient, open-minded, not bothered by what one could face by searching for topics to write about. I’m calm, and not willing to push for trouble if it’s beyond what I believe myself capable of. But. . I am able to push myself if needed. I believe I am creative and passionate for what I believe in, but isn’t that everyone? . . I’d hope so at least.” A twinkle in his eye, creased in the corners as he offered another smile.
What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:
Turning his head to the window to gaze out at the sky instead, though the landscape remained grey concrete and steel - expected of the city, he remained focused on the few bits of clouds and the visible corners of parks he could see. . spots of nature in an area where it did not typically thrive. “In the bits of research I’ve already done on Karakura, I’ve found myself quite enthralled by the history it holds. Not only its peculiar forest, gardens, mountains, and other various ruins. . but the question of how many truly know and understand the events of the past and how it affects both our future and present. The ongoings of the Ochiba forest, the workings and history of the Zen Garden, and how our world has changed and will be changing since then. I’m also quite the fan of gardening and wildlife - which may be obvious from my example report. . I suppose while this may be my main focus. . . I am always willing to branch out. It’s not as if there isn’t plenty of material in this drama-filled city to write about - even the most mundane of things. . or something more extravagant.” A hand pressed to his mouth, split in a small smile. . holding back a soft chuckle.
What are your expectations for the job?:
The man turned to look at you again, staring, searching. Only a moment did that flash across his face before melting into a far more pleasant smile, eyes falling shut as he hummed wistfully. “To answer honestly, unrealistic. But . . I suppose being able to coexist nicely with my coworkers - perhaps discuss work and have lovely conversation over a cup of tea. That would be a wish for this workplace, though I suppose I remain unaware of what it’s truly like, I do hope I’d be able to have such nice work relationships.” Maybe it was simply past experience plaguing his mind. . . “For the work itself, considering my so far knowledge of this city. . I suppose it could be a little dangerous to dig where you might not be welcome. I could only hope my attempts to inform the public will be as easy as it can be, even if I don’t plan to focus on those specific parts. . isn’t something always a little connected in some ways? Perhaps I should learn a little self defense if I were to get the job and find myself unawares and too invested in research to notice my surroundings. . .”
Do you have a criminal record? If so, list the crimes below:
Processing the question, it only took a moment before he shook his head, another small smile pulling at his lips. “No. I’ve never committed a crime. Nor do I plan to. . I’ve far surpassed the days of reckless youth and longing for trouble.”
Fluent Languages (Underline your native):
Letting his hands fall clasped into his lap, he brought his calm gaze back to you. “My native language is Finnish. Though I do also know Russian and English. . and of course. . Japanese.”
[English said for backstory purposes even if I won’t be able to use it in game ^_^]

With a soft click, the recording started.
The shuffling of fabric and a soft clink - nails tapping against porcelain?. . - was heard. The quality wasn't. . the best really. . but voices were audible and nothing seemed to be cutting out! The man should likely invest in a better microphone. . . or whatever else he was using to record the conversation.
A quiet intake of breath,
“My name is Elin Laitinen, here with Dr. Tatsugi, an EMS worker I’ve stolen from the hospital today for a lovely chat - along with some questions, of course. . about the hospital, and how their duties play out.” A quiet hum. . perhaps a signal for Tatsugi to say hello if they’d like.

“That's certainly less dramatic than I was expecting,” a quiet huff - amusement likely. “What's it like working with doctors and paramedics in the same building - are there any major differences between departments besides the work they do? “That’s a wonderful way to see it. . an admirable quality of yours.” A hum. . . “Back to the more working related questions. How would you say one could make an appointment for therapy?”
[Livara Tatsugi]
"Hmm about therapy… well. For one they streamlined it a lot well. Can be both considered better or worse. For one, it does prioritize individuals in a way more. The old system you needed a referral and then wait for a psychiatrist to find interest in your case. Sometimes it wouldn’t be taken at all. New one has people come in and then immediately see someone if wanted which I think is great. Current system does do one thing though which is slightly severe the ties of a closer patient psychiatrist relation I guess. Plenty of people actually chose to stick to the one they had, including my own patients. But systems all will have its flaws, and with this, there can still be new patient psychiatrist relations made."

“I see. . . that does sound more beneficial for the patient, though hopefully you’re able to keep in contact and continue scheduling with psychiatrists you’re more used to. . . along those lines, how does one get diagnosed, and possibly get medications for any psychological related issues?”
[Livara Tatsugi]
"Theee process isn't too difficult in general. There's two main ways it can be done. Uno one, someone comes in and after a couple times, there's suspicious grounds of. Oh! hey! Observing some things you talk about I suspect youuu might have this thing! and then after some time, going through some discussion. The person if they tick enough of the appropriate boxes for each thing, they get diagnosed. The other option is, the person suspected and knew from the beginning, they go through the same process and deduction. And then at the end be given option to medication! end of the day, they get given lists of some medication, what it does. and how it would affect them since, not all medication is not without side effects. But, it's noted, as. Option. We cannot force people to take medication."
“Quite obviously. . . I think we’ve put the days of forcing care upon those who do not want it behind us - at least so the majority of people. .” Hopefully. . . “How common is it for people to seek mental help, actually?”
[Livara Tatsugi]
"Honestly. . . not too much? I actually oddly cannot think of the last time someone came in who wasn't my own common patient who came in for help. I'm sure there's plenty of people who want to come in and still, get help but. Reaching out is asking is difficult. And I can't blame someone for it. So, the estimate doesn't even particularly have a specific number. If I was to say the average for people who are seeking help, it'd be plenty. There's always a want for mutual understanding end of the day."
“Well considering the activities of Karakura. . . physical injuries must be much more of a focus in the end. . while my assumption is you can’t treat anything too horrible, at what point does the line cross? What injuries can’t you treat?”
[Livara Tatsugi]
"Hmnnn, it's essentially anything that's a bit too much. psychiatrists, we can essentially do some small nurse work to help out the doctors so they can focus on the larger things. So, hooking up patients to IVs, prepping a person for surgery. Or, as said, small things such as bruises, cuts, or things that need sutures. But, larger things such as broken bones, slices or affected arteries and organs, even concussions, burns things, amputations. things like that in a nutshell! That's off limits."
“Makes sense. You both have your own duties to focus on. .” The final clink of a cup being placed down one more time. “I believe that does bring our conversation to a close. . . though. . one more question before I completely end off. Is there anything you'd like to mention that I didn't ask already? Could really be anything.”
[Livara Tatsugi]
"Anythingggg? Anything. . . .? oh! I suppose working as a psychiatrist will have it's dangers actually on personal level. The human brain can be pretty fragile if tampered with incorrectly. So, unfortunately, while trying to do jobs, some individuals may be. . . say. pushed the wrong way by accident. Now, of course there's procedures to avoid and make sure this doesn't happen but. Since humans are end of the day, also just wild animals, born bred to be. Incidents, or say, violent individuals can happen. There's slight subtle argument I believe I remember hearing that psychiatrists have the, quote on quote, more dangerous end next to paramedics due to patients being able to enact. Don't take this as a warning call or me going, oh! yes! all mentally ill individuals are dangerous! no no no. There's plenty stigma around individuals who have schizophrenia, narcissism, antisocial. Plenty of that enough, which does large amounts of further harm to individuals of these types. But what I am saying is, therapy, psychiatry is for the most part pictured as such. You go walk in, you talk to someone who has all the answers to your life and you come out perfect again! That's not the case unfortunately. And the journey to helping others, to helping yourself will always have its bumps on the road even with assistance. Mental health is not something you try to wall through and run over! It's just a larger road block that a person would need to know how to work around, and solve within their life. You know?"
“Far too many try and brute force their way through healing. . . and I appreciate you and your coworkers for what you do for the population - even if most tend to not realise how important your actions are, at first.” The shuffling of fabric, whatever was being used to record the conversation was picked up, their voices only a little easier to hear now. “Thank you for joining me this evening, Dr. Tatsugi, it was a pleasure to interview you and learn more about the some of the most hardworking workers in Karakura.”
