Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
First and foremost, the school forms the cornerstone of SRP, it's what the server is mostly about. Letting the players immerse in different roleplay scenarios and giving everyone the opportunity to learn and grow out of those scenarios.
Imagine this, the school building is a mere building, it is the foundation on which we build our daily activities, teaching and growing our students. It is a necessity, but with only the foundation we won't be able to do much.
That's where the teachers come in; the teachers are the foundation walls of the building. They make sure the main activities such as guiding the students and teaching the actual lessons, take place.
Of course we can't have a complete building with only a foundation and foundation walls, that's where the employees come in. They follow up on the supporting tasks, which are equally important to the lessons. Providing first aid in case a student gets hurt or providing a tasty and nourishing breakfast to start the day off healthy, as well as many other tasks.
That brings us to the roof, SLT. The SLT makes sure the general management of the school is in order, hiring and firing of faculty, general management, organising events for the school, ...
When we bring all of these together, we have a sturdy school, a strong school to be the foundation of the future of Karakura, our students.
Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you may lose your role?: Yes
Do you agree to undergo teacher training if your application is successful?: Yes
What is your motivation for becoming a Teacher?: My motivation mostly stems from my real life motivation to become a teacher. What I hope is that I'll get a glimpse of how it feels to stand in front of a class in SRP, so that I can feel more sure about standing in front of a class in real life coming October. Seeing the slot being opened for Biology teacher I saw this as the perfect opportunity. Especially since I start my study as a biology teacher this year, which is so exciting. I can already start thinking about lesson plans and ideas, even if it's only digitally in a game.
During my time at highschool I've been wondering what I would do when I have to study further after highschool. After a while it became clear to me that I wanted to become a teacher. But the question remained: What kind of teacher? Primary school or highschool? After some internships in primary school I've made my choice to pick Highschool teacher as my choice, mainly because of the subjects you are able to give and how extensively you can give them. For example: you wouldn't teach an 8 year old child what diabetes is and how it works. I mainly want to teach people things that I've learnt at school and I wanna see myself and the classes I give grow. In a way where I give lessons about different things about biology, things that I've learnt and will continue to learn in real life. And I see this as the perfect way to study for my subjects in my free time as well. Since I am revising the things I've studied. Besides that, who doesn't like experiments?!
Furthermore, I love being in a faction and having things to do. I used to be a lawyer in government and was in there for about a year, I've handed in my resignation past April. I still have my lawyer tag as I'm waiting on the adult, but no longer play the character as a lawyer. Being a teacher would mean being able to forge a lot of new connections within the teacher faction and with the other faculty factions, as well as students.
It'll also allow me to guide even more new players through the game and welcome them into SRP, something which I've often tried to do with greenies in the past.
In-Character Section
What's your character's full name?: Pomni Thise
What is your character's age?: 28
What is your preferred subject to teach?: Science (Biology)
Describe your character:
Pomni Thise can be described as a woman with blonde short hair, a nice young woman who loves music, singing in her free time. Trying to come up with fun and meaningful lyrics. And she also likes jogging and gardening in her free time. proving that she enjoys helping things grow, whether they're plants or people. Friends have also documented several side effects of prolonged exposure to Pomni, including spontaneous singing, increased motivation, and, in rare cases, the mysterious appearance of sand in places where sand should never be.
Filled with kindness, Pomni is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her perseverance drives her to complete every task to the best of her ability, no matter how long it takes. Consistency and reliability are qualities she takes great pride in and her patience is one of her greatest strengths. A crucial trait when working with teenagers, she finds. She understands that learning takes time, and she's more than willing to invest that time in helping every student succeed, grow and blossom.
Integrity is another quality that defines her. Staying true to her words. Being brave, not fearing into stepping in and taking action whenever need be. Being a just teacher when there are students arguing for example.
She has dreamed of becoming a teacher at Karakura highschool ever since an internship some years ago, determined to inspire the next generation and set the right example for her students.
Although one mystery about Pomni remains unsolved: why are her pockets always full of sand? No one has ever managed to find that out thus far.
Just like any animal in a new environment, she might seem shy at first. Though she only needs a little time to adapt to her new habitat. Once she's comfortable, however, her confidence multiplies faster than bacteria in a Petri dish, and she evolves into an enthusiastic, supportive teacher who's impossible to stop.
Pomni is a teacher with standards, meaning she only selects the fittest of students to pass her classes. Darwin would be proud. Natural selection is tough... but fair, as is she. When they put in the work and try to the best of their ability, they get rewarded.
A little background information about Pomni Thise: She was born and raised in the Flanders side of Belgium, making her Belgian. She pursued her passion for science by achieving a masters degree with a major in biology along with a minor in teaching and in geography

Roleplay Scenarios
A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
Let me tell you the story of a student during my internships, let’s call him Adam, who was struggling to understand Darwin's theory of evolution.
I noticed that Adam was looking somewhat confused. Rather than pulling all the attention to him, I quietly went over to Adam crouching down beside his desk we were at eye level, trying to assert a calm and supportive tone
Pomni: "I noticed that you looked rather confused on this subject. Is there anything you don't understand where I can help you in?"
Adam: He'd scratch the side of his neck sighing "I just... I don't understand the difference between natural selection and Survival of the fittest.."
I smiled reassuringly.
Pomni: "That's actually a really common question, so don't worry. I've got you. Think of it this way. Imagine there are two rabbits. One has white fur and one has brown fur. They both live in a snowy environment. Which rabbit do you think predators would spot first?"
Adam: "Uhhh... I'm pretty sure it would be the brown rabbit, right?"
Pomni: "Exactly! The white rabbit blends into the snow better, so it has a better chance of surviving long enough to have babies. That's natural selection. The environment 'selects' the traits that are most helpful for survival. Now, survival of the fittest doesn't mean the strongest rabbit wins every time. In biology, 'fit' means best adapted to the environment. In this case, the white rabbit is the 'fittest' because its fur gives it an advantage. Because the fur is white, in a snowy environment. They blend in with the snow making it extra hard for the predators to spot them. So, natural selection is the process, and survival of the fittest is the result of that process." I emphasized the words process and result
Adam: "Oh... so being the 'fittest' isn't about muscles, it's about being better adapted?"
I nodded with a bright comforting smile
Pomni: "Exactly! You've got it. And remember, asking questions is okay. That's why I'm here. There are no dumb questions."
To conclude, what I tried to do is give him some really simple examples to discover what it is all about by himself. I could also use his neighbour to try and run through the same story-like explaining of the lessons’ contents.
A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
Ah, yes... I've had to deal with trouble makers aswell during my internship.
There was a kid who kept talking over me and making jokes with classmates and distracting the students around them.
I went over to Eve asking if I could borrow her attention for a minute.
Pomni Thise: "I don't mind it if we have a laugh now and then. I mean, everyone needs it. But right now, it's kinda disrupting the class, my class. And I don't really appreciate it that much. So could you perhaps keep it down?"
Eve nodded afterwards.
However... Not even 5 minutes later her behaviour continued.
I remained composed.
Pomni Thise: "Eve, I've already asked you once, and I won't ask you again. I want to give you a chance to be better. And this is the last chance I'll give you. Do I make myself crystal clear? If you need a few minutes to recollect yourself, you may."
Eve replied saying "Yes, madam", nodding slightly.
Eve still continued afterwards.
Pomni Thise: "Eve, I've warned you several times, you may leave my class now. And I wish to speak to you after this class is over. If I don't see you after class. I will have to give you detention."
After class we had a genuine conversation. I told her that I was deeply upset about her actions during class and how I expect her to behave better in the next one. Eve also apologized and told me that she finds it hard to compose herself. Since she's really social. I told her that I understood her point of view and that she can keep that for during breaks. After our chat her disruptive behavior decreased and I had no more issues with her. After my internship was done, she even thanked me for being very kind and patient.
Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
Bioplastics:
My first idea would be making bioplastics with the students as an experiment. This is a fun crossroad between biology and chemistry. Having both subjects work together to make an ecological alternative for plastics. Since I believe that teaching students at a young age about climate change and ecology is a must, since they are our future, our hope and bioplastics are biodegradable. I would take the class to the chemistry lab for this lesson in which I would have prepared satchels with the right amount of cornstarch, vinegar, water and glycerin to let the students mix. I'll share the recipe with the students and I'll guide them on how to make the bioplastics.
They can even use food coloring to give their bioplastics colors! You can even turn them into decoration, ornaments or jewelry and even bookmarks!
Make your own species:
As for my second idea I'd let them make their own animal species.
"Scientists discover new marine species every year. Today, you're going to become marine biologists, think of the new species you would like to find at the beach! Your organism can be silly, cute, scary, or bizarre. But every feature needs a purpose."
I'd give groups around 10 minutes to figure this out and lay out a format such as:

which they have to fill out. After they all submitted their answer in a notebook, I'd switch the notebooks and tell the students to find an organism that matches the description the most.
So for example group A has made the species called The Glitter Gobbler
And group B made the species called The Jelly Jumper
After they submitted their species, group A would get the notebook of The Jelly Jumper and group B the notebook of The Glitter Gobbler and based off of what's written in the books they have to find already found species that bestly matches their description.
Lastly, they'll have to present the species. So group A would present The Jelly Jumper and also tell them which living species best describes The Jelly Jumper. And group B would do the same with The Glitter Gobbler."
Grow a garden:
As for my third and last idea, an extra really fun interactive class would be about patience and learning to take care of plants!
For example: the students will all get random seeds. Such as potato seeds, tomato seeds, spinach, pepers, bellpepers, onion seeds, chives, spring onions. I would have the students take care of their seeds in the green house and let them post pictures about how the plants are doing every week, when the plants are ready to be harvested, I'd collaborate with a culinary teacher and have them cook the plants into a delicious meal together while the culinary teacher also teaches the students about how to cook certain dishes with what you're given.
This is a perfect opportunity to both teach the students about patience but also a great way to collaborate with my colleagues!
Have you read and understand the Teacher Application Guidance thread? Yes
