OOC (Out-Of-Character) Information:

What is your In-Game-Name (IGN)? Please include ALL your alternative accounts:
veebadoobee (morgueangel)

Do you have Discord? If so, what is your username?:
@veebster

List your timezone and country:
BST - England

Describe your activity:
Now that it's summer, I log on every day, often times between 2pm-4am, there are the odd days where I'm working or going out. Coming September 5th, I will have school 3 days a week - I am unable to tell you which as of now.
You'll see me on morgueangel exclusively at the moment - I am active on my college character, Runa. This account will have poor history as I am shelving it unless this gets accepted.

Link any significant applications (e.g., Roles/Teams, exclude languages):
As for roleplay teams, I have been on college football (C), hs(C)/college cheer.
Community teams have included staff and event team.
I have previously been the reporter lead as well as a multitude of other city roles such as hospital, KPD, teacher/professor and so on. I'll link the more recent ones for you below.

What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:
The main thing that drives me is phasing back into the server. I'm really enjoying playing my college character, but there's only so far that I can take this anxious girl in terms of roleplay. Admittedly, I miss playing more professional personalities and the time I spent in the faction was really enjoyable. As of recent, I have seen the reporters getting more involved and actually found myself drawn to reading the things they have to say; this, paired with the fact that the server seems to be at an all time high in terms of events and storyline, has really motivated me to try and get involved once more.
I have some free time on my hands since starting college, and I've since been rotting using it unproductively. I've been leaning to applying for some sort of role or team for a while now, and I feel that the reporter role is something that I'll be able to manage well with what it demands and my activity patterns. Of course, it isn't just the availability that enticed me. I think this role is really unique through it's ability to pass on information to players and strike new potential for roleplay between others. In the past, I have felt stuck on some of my characters as there were little things to explore or discuss, and from reading some of the reports out there right now, I think that these stories are some of the most creative the server has seen in a while. In the past, I had tried to emulate silly, one-off pop culture or magazine references in the reports I had dished out, but it was nowhere near as creative as some of the things I have seen on "Whizfeed". Additionally, the main news section has really transformed since my time, and feels like a way for a character to obtain information of the city's lore without having to magically infer it through OOC word of mouth. Above all, it's also nice to look back on some of the things that have happened on the server.
In short, I have missed the faction and feel an urge to contribute to the server oncemore.

Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:
My relationship with writing has been rocky, in all honesty. My real-life experiences, predominantly with school, were mediocre. I was always a talented writer, achieving high-ish marks in my literature exams specifically. However, I have no zest for explaining why Shakespeare may have meant this or that. Since starting my adventure on RPH in late 2016, I have built a more personal relationship with storywriting in particular. I would consider myself a steadily improving writer, particularly with the introduction of Runa Rōkkaku, a sheepish soul that is forgiving to a fault. (Who, you should interact with - no matter who is reading this). SchoolRP was the foundation for my expression with writing, and to this day I probably owe it my storywriting exam results. My love for writing is soaring right now, hence the application.
Other than that, I have some real-life experience with journalism, predominantly through the few entries I wrote for my school newspaper a while back. This was my main motivation for my former application, and I feel I still have the skill for it somewhere with a little practice. As much as creative writing is my forte, I still have the matter-of-fact writing style within me from my exams last year and I am ready to equip it whenever.

Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?: Yes.

Why should we accept you over others?:
I haven't necessarily studied up on the other applicants, but I can personally vouch for myself in terms of my passion and ability. I would never forgive myself for putting out a lazy piece of writing out into the world, so you can have my word that should I be accepted, I will only put out high quality pieces. I can take criticism well, and won't treat your feedback as a slap on the wrist. I'm always looking to get better, so I would love to be part of a team that hopefully motivates each other. Additionally, I don't feel like I'm in a place to be taking opportunities for granted - everything I have written here is intentional and genuine, I am driven by my desire to write and not just for the tag above my head. I want a platform for a character that has the capability to create and commentate, a change of scenery from the other types I have played. I suppose this goes hand in hand with the fact that I'm here to take this seriously - I have no intention of bending rules or giving you the bare minimum - this is meant to be fun for me and easy for you, which is a non-negotiable should I be chosen.

Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)
Yes, this makes sense to me.

Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:
Yes - and the pieces will be of high quality.

Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is:
Given that I have a bit of experience in the faction already, I can happily tell you that I am at least aware that each reporter has to pick a unique subject or event to recount in good detail. I have always encouraged media that could strenghten the report such as high-quality screenshots or interview snippets, and I'm sure that this is still something that you utilise. There are also instances I have seen of weather reports or even songs of the day - which have definitely been fun to see pop up in chat. Other than that, I reckon that reporters still have a role within events, such as using the news system to draw people to certain locations or even spreading awareness to the greter population. I'm sure that there is still much to learn, which I'm happy to adapt to as soon as possible. Despite the now shorter quota, this likely means that reports need to be of a greater quality than before.

IC (In-Character) Information:
Treat this section like it is your own character answering it

1754104824767.png

Reserved, the poised East Asian darling sat silent till spoken to. She carried herself with excellent posture, a practised shell of a woman showing no individuality besides the red streak disrupting her honey blonde slick back, a mere souvenir of her rebellious youth.

Full Name:
"Seno Soda."

The nepo-baby answered firmly. Though it were a name that had not carried significance now for many years, she still uttered it with unshaken command.. Her body did not dare to falter nor show a sign of anxiety.

Preferred Name/Nickname and Title (e.g., Ms, Mr)
"Ms works just fine."

Current Age (25+):
"I'm twenty-seven."

Past job/work experience:
"I previously coached a highschool cheerleading squad in the Kantō region, we won a few local competitions in the few years I trained them."

With a bluntness that dropped on your head like an anvil, Soda was far more enthralled in gloating than giving relevant experience, it seemed. Perhaps she imagined an unimpressed glare from the interviewer, letting her eyelids fall shut against her austere face in a display of surrender. As her merciless gaze resurfaced, she faced an involuntary change of topic.

"Of course. . I have dealt with the press, and whatnot. I am aware of the types of things a reporter should ask."

Degree/qualifications:
"Let's see. . I graduated Karakura High-School a couple years back. . and I went on to study a Master's degree in Sports and Health Science at Juntendo University."

The woman seemed impatient to boast once more, sitting notably taller in her seat as she recounted. However, she seemed incapable of rambling, keeping her anecdotes short and snappy up until this point.

Nationality and born location:
"I'm Japanese and Korean, so I have dual-citizenship, as well. I was born here, in Karakura."

Phone Number:
"030-351-2288. Do you need me to repeat that?"

It would be a misconception to assume that this came from a spiteful place. Although this applicant seemed rather frank, this was a rare notion of mindfulness, proven by her perked brow and careful reading of the numbers.

How would you describe yourself in under 150 words?:
"Organised, serious, and succesful."

Unwavering, she stared ahead. The self-assured dame actually moved an inch, tilting her unsullied head with an undertone of uncertainty. Unheard of.

"Did you want more? .. Right."

Now, she seemed to get the memo, taking a cautionary few seconds to adjust herself in her seat. Her intriguing, yet unexpressive, eyes grew a less-than-keen quality to them - and it'd have been a lie to say she summoned an enthusiastic tone within her deep, unkind voice.

"The whole reason I am sat before you today is because I do not have a whole lot to say about myself. I am a reflection of my work. . Which is not mediocre by any means. I'm observant, which is what you are in need of. It does not take a genius to recount what happens in this city. People are interested in the why. Me, personally? I could not care less. I have had enough drama to last me a lifetime during my highschool years. ."

She lifted her hand, cautiously taking a prolonged sip of her complimentary water. The cup clinked weakly as it met the table, Seno articulating almost immediately after.

"So, here is to quality work and not getting knifed down for the love of the job?"

Soda seemed self-satisfied, hushing promptly and lending a listening ear to the interviewer.

What are you interested in writing about? How will you achieve this, and would you consider going out of your comfort zone?:

Poker face puckered and ready for the kill, Soda snapped into action with. . no, actually - the same lack of zest for life as before, it seemed.

"No. . I think it's inherently stupid to throw out a sloppy report because someone might like it. You will have other people willing to jump the gun already, I'm sure.."

She seemed unpleasant, for sure. Though, there was some twisted method to her madness as revealed by the depth of interest in her alluring two eyes. Had her inexplicable passion not yet been revealed, any keen reporter would've noticed the sudden tapping of her plainly manicured fingernail, silent but telling.

"I want to perfect my ability before it is out there for someone to see. . That way I can avoid my own judgement getting in the mix. I enjoy writing about the facts. Why things happened. . The questions people may not have thought to ask. Do not ask me to write a- what was it, that I saw.."

Animated and pertubed, Soda's long finger rose to her lip, downturned lip souring rapidly.

"These quizzes. They aren't my forte. I prefer to write the absolute."

What are your expectations for the job?:

The interviewee's soft brows flickered in amusement, the woman now having return to her idle posture.

"I suppose I'll stay out of your way, and you stay out of mine. No doubt you'll have to hover over my shoulder for a while. . But I'd like to reach a compromise as soon as possible. I'll write what doesn't suck the life out of me and it should make you happy enough. Other than that, I'll do all in my power not to sully the name of this news station. ."

It wasn't life or death, though Soda spoke as if the heavens may come down to take her prematurely should she hypothetically fail in any way. A valiant glimmer flickered in her once juvenile and reckless eye, now serious and intentional. Is someone going to tell her it's just an interview?

Do you have a criminal record? If so, list the crimes below:
"No."

Fluent Languages:
"I speak Japanese. . That'd be my mother tongue."

Fret not, interviewer, for her blunt charm returned, crashing down upon her steady frame like a wave onto an anticipating shore. Soda said nothing further, awaiting instruction.

PROMPTS -
(Prompt 1 includes a quote from wkiii's character, Cindy Wong. It is written by me. The interviewee in Prompt 2 is also written by myself. I had to condense the file, so contact me if there's any issues.)

1754133643785.png

1754105426426.png

"The following recording is an interview with an anonymous street racer, who agreed to do this interview through an alias."

SODA;
"Thank you for finding the time to join this meeting today. Before we begin, can you give a brief introduction of yourself?"

Replacing Seno Soda's clean and refined voice, a far grizzlier personality made their less-than-well-spoken introduction to the listeners.

???;
"Brief? Sure. . I race. Nothing else I'd like to share."

SODA;
"Great. As you know, I'm here with you today to discuss the street-racing epidemic within the city."

The woman's voice neared the microphone, her professional chatter contextualising the story in a podcast-like manner.

"Street-racing is reaching shocking peaks within Karakura, many claiming life-threatening experiences with the speeding cars."

The man, whose voice was distorted, let out a low huff in sheer amusement.

???;
"That's one way to put it. If you ask me, that's all--"

There's a choppy cut in the clip, made apparent by the quality of sound changing ever-so-slightly.

SODA;
"I would prefer it if you didn't use profanities. . Anyways. Can you describe how you feel about the claims people are making on social media?"

???;
"Sure."

Another cut in the audio hinted at a pause in the clip, disrupted only by the man's weighted sigh. The reporter remained silent, allowing his gruff voice to phase in.

"They're full of crap. We're careful, it's not about them, you know? I've never even gotten close to these people. One person saw a car whizz past and now they're causing a fuss on the net."

There was an antsy, animated undertone to the man's voice as he recounted his anecdote. Unluckily, it was dulled quickly by Soda's matter-of-fact hum.

SODA;
"I see. Would you be able to tell me why you street race?"

???;
"Hell yeah. It's like any other hobby, you know? It's the rush- the adrenaline. We're not careless, though. . Any poser that didn't know what he's doing has been long caught by the 'PD. . Those are the ones giving us a bad rep!"

The familiarly condescending female threaded her enquiry back into the conversation, presumably leaning back in her seat as her voice fled ever-so-slightly from the microphone.

SODA;
"So, you do admit that civilians may be getting injured by these illegal races?"

A question that seemed to raise discomfort, judging by the man's snappy and hardly graceful response.

???;
"I don't know, okay? I've never seen one of the cars come even as close as nudging someone, let alone these idiots thinking they might be KILLED. ."

There was a pondering pause, one that was unedited. Our reporter was intrigued again, her voice near booming in the audio recording.

SODA;
"In that case, how can you ensure that you don't disturb the general public when racing?"

???;
"You gott'a pick the right times, ya know? Late nights, schooltime. . Events out of the city. Means there's no cops walkin' around either. . Saves my a-. . Saves my butt, and all these careless people's, too."

SODA;
"That's interesting. It seems like the public and the racers are divided, both sides believing that the other is irrational.."

She spoke as though he couldn't hear her, put-together and quite patronizing.

"How did you start street-racing?"

???;
".. Dunno. I guess it was when I saw my friend doin' it. He let me in the passenger seat and the adrenaline was crazy. I've loved it ever since."

The man's voice hushed, letting some vulnerability slide by lenience of his disguise. He could not let the thought ferment for long, no thanks to Soda's sharp tongue.

SODA;
"It looks like this is another one of those microtrends, given how quick it has phased into the city. Do you think this obsession will soon blow over for the town, or are we looking at a widespread probolem?"

???;
". . ."

The same pertubed sigh that'd passed over the microphone resurfaced, a beat between silence and recital.

"That's only if you're some poser. Some of these guys have been at it for years, you know? Just 'cos more people are getting involved doesn't mean it hasn't been around. How the hell would you know anyways?"

Harsh bitterness was mellowed down with Soda's near taunting rebuttals, barely skipping a beat before interrogating further.

SODA;
"I fear I'm the one asking questions. Let me see.."

Pages flipping.

"Where do you go to fix your car when it is damaged? I presuume it would be problematic to continuously return to the car shop."

???;
"Yeah, no kidding. . I guess you just gott'a learn to do it yourself. That's what I did. It takes a little getting used to, but I can clean that baby up no problem with some practice.. It's also just a matter of not bashin' up your car."

SODA;
"Alright. We're almost done. ."

Granted, the woman sounded fairly uninterested in the questions she asked, leaving open gaps for the interviewee to chime in when desired.

"Have you ever had any run-ins with the police while racing?"

???;
"I mean. . I've seen cops around- but nah, not really. I've been sweet enough t'a avoid them for the most part. I know of loads of people who've gotten close, though. There's not really any way to prove you're tryn'a race 'less they find you speeding, or something. . Bein' in the car itself isn't a crime."

The man's poor audio quality buzzed, distortion only adding to the incessant murmur. The clip could only be restored so much.

SODA;
"Very interesting.. My last question is, what is your stance on the legality of this 'hobby', what do you think the police could do to make it safer for everyone?"

If the man's lack of seriousness for the subject wasn't to be inferred already, this second chortle should've done the trick. Soda refused to react.

???;
"It ain't gonna stop anyone, but I guess there could be some sort'a track for us to go down. . Then again, it defeats the whole purpose, y'a know? . . It'll stay illegal, n' I don't think that should change, necessarily. . It's just a matter of understanding there isn't much they can do 'bout this. Street racing lives o-!!"

This chant is interrupted by a complete change in audio - the staticky hubbub has dispersed, and the listeners are met with a crispy clear setting.

SODA;
"I believe that was quite enough, there.. Feel free to give your opinions on this widely debated topic, I am curious to know what you all think. Thank you for listening."

did my best heh. rusty.
