What is your motivation to apply for reporter?:

I’ve thought about applying for the reporter faction for quite awhile. But every time it came up, I was like: “But when are you going to have time for this AND for the faction, huh?” And kept denying myself from even trying to write an application. This time around, nothing’s stopping me. I believe I can do a lot within the faction.
Do you have any experience with writing? What is your relationship with writing?:

I have a love-hate relationship with writing. I’ve been writing ‘professionally’ for like, 4 years. I’ve done scripts for plays (which I’ve acted in) and more. I really like writing, but I often get writing blocks if I don’t write enough. I have great experience in writing.

Are you aware of - and will follow - the set of rules provided to you?:

Yes!

Why should we accept you over others?:

I’m quite active as of late. I’m also a great writer, and I can work most hours of the day. I’m a super nice person, and I also have great roleplaying experience. I don’t break rules, either! Heh!

Do you understand you have to stay completely neutral with all reports? (Your
report can't have any OOC or IC bias towards a specific group.)

Yes, I understand. Having a bias as a reporter could very much ruin your reputation, in my opinion.

Do you trust that you will be able to stay active and complete the monthly quota?:

I highly believe I can. I’ve been freeing up more time for myself lately.

Summarise what you imagine work as a reporter is:

I imagine it’s very friendly. I can enjoy being an INNOCENT reporter or switch up and do some criminal activity. I imagine the people are super nice, and I even know some of them!

BZZZZZZT! [RECORDING START].

Ai entered the room where the old man was sipping tea. A graceful bow followed, and she sat down, seiza.

“So, Mr. Kazuo Suzuki, what’s your experience with venomous creatures?"

Shuffling could be heard in the background, and a hiss followed. “Saito! Come back here!” - followed. The sound of a cheap cup falling and breaking was heard, and a frustrated laugh came right after. “C’mon, Saito, this isn’t funny!” It wasn’t clear who she was talking to, but clearly, it wasn’t someone who was helping.

K.S - I was a snake catcher a while back, like, 30 years ago, I think? And that ‘lil guy you got there? I know his kind. Veeeery venomous. I’m surprised he ain’t kill ya’ yet. Technically, you could have him taken away, if you aren’t careful enough! Anyway, back to snake catching. I had plenty of experience. Y’know what mithridatism is, Ai? It’s super interesting. It’s a process where a human who’s subjected to biting by highly venomous snakes for a long time, develops immunity towards venom! Hah! Isn’t that amazing? Sounds like fiction!

Ai raises her brows, writing that down. This is important! “Jesus, really? Now, tell me, did you develop mithri- whatever?! It is? And if you did, how does it feel being bitten by snakes for like, 20 years?” She smiled, Saito in her arms, slithering.

K.S - Yeah! I developed that. It wasn’t a fun process. Had a LOT of close calls, and once, I even clinically died for 3 seconds! Wasn’t fun, but lookin’ back, it was me in the past, now, ‘mma different person! And it wasn’t fun being bitten, but sometimes, I just sighed and told myself - “I got this. It’s for the job!” and somehow, that worked.

Ai smiled. “Is that so? Well, what’s the deadliest snake you’ve dealt with, here in Shirakawa?”

K.S - Probably Saito. I mean, the type that’s his snake. Very venomous. Killed my best friend from grade school. Ugh.

A strange look came upon her face. “Saito ain’t so dangerous. Don’t lump him in with those wild snakes.” She stopped the recording for a second, sighed, restarted. “What would you say would be the hardest kill of a snake you had to do?”

K.S - A snake named Shiro. He had a small hat. He bit and killed his owner due to his owner not smelling the same way he usually did. I went home and buried the snake and put the hat on the makeshift grave.

She nodded, writing that down. “So, were you like, emotionally attached to it..? Nevermind that. Did you have venomous pets of your own?”

K.S - Yeeeees! I had 3 tarantulas, 2 choking snakes, and forgot their type, and like, a cat. The cat outlived them ALL.

“It SURVIVED more than the venomous animals? Jesus, scary. Anyway, what snakes were you never going to catch?”

K.S - I wanted to catch a Cobra, always. Never could, sadly. I had the chance to, I was sent on an expedition to Brazil once, and a cobra attacked one of my co-workers. It escaped, and said co-worker died.

With all the horror stories she hears, she starts to wonder - ‘Is this man OKAY??’ and truthfully, he probably wasn’t. “So like, why did you quit the job? You were clearly young enough to continue, and truthfully? I know men and women much older than you that are still working.”

K.S - I just stopped, because it wasn’t fulfilling that one thing, that spot in my brain, anymore.

She sighed. “I’m gonna ask a very generic question, sorry. What’s the biggest myth about snakes that you wish people would stop believing?”

K.S - GUYS!! SNAKES ARE NOT AGGRESSIVE!! They’re defensive. You’re a 6ft monster to them, and they just wanna crawl into a hole and eat mice. Leave them if you’re afraid of them. Don’t make them aggressive!

Another one. “I apologize… But, do you ever intentionally or have you ever intentionally got bitten to enjoy the rush of adrenaline?”

K.S - Yes. I don’t lie about that.

Interesting. "Thank you for your time, Mr. Suzuki!"

BZZZZZZZT! [RECORDING STOPPED].
