Describe your activity on SchoolRP:
I'm usually the most active on the weekends, as I have school during the week; but sometimes I'll log on for an hour or so.

Describe your roleplay experience with SchoolRP and other roleplay networks in general:
SchoolRP has been the only roleplay I've frequented on, sometimes I'd log on to up-and-coming servers like CityRP and FantasyRP, but none has stuck to me like SRP.
I started playing SRP in August 2019, and I've jumped around in many different role-play types such as GangRP, SeriousRP, and FamilyRP. I was a leader of a gang in March of 2020 until I found toxicity rising in all of my members. I quit GangRP shortly after and made my own family name the Bertellis'. It wasn't as successful as my gang, but the members are some of my good friends to this day. Following this, I've joined different college sports such as basketball and track and I've experimented with different disorders and disabilities such as PTSD, Deafness, and addictions. On my other account (_beldame), I was a professor on SchoolRP for around 3-4 months and got certain achievements like Professor of the Month.

What are your current roles on SchoolRP:
(bnxiie): College-Student (Bachelors) [20]
(beldame_): Adult [29]

What is the subject you want to teach?:
Theatre/Tech Theatre, but I can also teach Psychology or Kinesiology.

TRIVIA SECTION

What is your motivation for becoming a professor?:

I'm taking AP Psychology this semester, and it reminded me of how much I learned from teaching Neuroscience in 2021. I miss connecting with the students and coming up with fun, informative lessons, especially with a complex subject like Neuroscience.

Work out two interactive classes you will host if accepted:

1. ENSEMBLE
The theater has many different parts that need to be fulfilled in order to function. The purpose of this lesson is to teach students the importance of working together as an ensemble instead of as an individual. Randomly, I will assign each student a role from the list: Director, Actor, Tech, or Stage Manager. Following their assignment, I will tell them to form groups (of 4) with each random assignment. The students will be given a prompt and the responsibilities of their roles. After around 10 minutes (OOCly), I will ask them to present their work to the class.

2. PLAYWRIGHTS AND PLAYS
Something I would love to implement into the school system is a chance for students to write plays or shorts for production. This will be another way for students to appreciate the tech and writing of the plays they perform. If a student would like to create a play, it could be a group collaboration we can talk about in class; helping to guide them through play dynamics and characterization. After they finish their production, I would help this young playwright in casting and directing their play with students during a period. This might be an activity for every Friday, in order, to incorporate class discussion and production.

Work out a field trip (meaning a class outside school grounds) you will host if accepted:
Something that’s talked about a lot in the thespian world is type-casting. It’s a problem a lot of directors fall under which creates generic plays that offer no diversity. Following a lecture on type-casting where the students anonymously are told their type, doing an embodying exercise to separate ourselves from our “type” will help the students to broaden their chances of seeing people as one type or impression. A bigger space such as the bowling alley or the space near the Business District will be the best option for this field trip. The students will gather with their similar types and come up with different ways they can move out of this cast. Of course, I will aid them in exploring their personalities more. Overall the exercise will help motivate students outside of the theater and especially in theater.

SCENARIO SECTION

Your character would encounter a group of college jocks surrounding a bobcat jock, what would your character do?

Samara would approach the group, getting the attention of the college jocks. She'd contain a positive, calm manner asking about the situation while inspecting if any students were hurt.

Your character would be supervising detention, and one of the students constantly disturbs by asking stupid questions, what would your character do?
If a student were constantly disturbing Samara by asking stupid questions in detention, she would use the students' annoyance to get them to learn something. Probably turning these questions into a win-win such as: If you answer my question correctly, I'll answer yours.

Your character would be hosting a class, and a group of cheerleaders keeps on playing songs on the phone and calling out other students in the class, what would your character do?
Samara would call out the names of the cheerleaders and ask them to go to opposite corners of the classroom, in order, to separate their internal need for attention and validation. If they continued to talk to each other across the classroom, she would give them an individual assignment like an essay that would be due at the end of class.

Your character would be walking on the school perimeter and encounter a fight between a couple of students, your character tried to break it up but it didn't help, what would your character do?
After failing to break up a fight between students, Samara would begin efficiently calling other staff (if they are online). If no staff are available, Samara will hold one student back and rationalize how what they're doing isn't proving anything until they're calm.

CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE

Tell us everything you know about the character you will be playing in a few paragraphs. What do they look like? What makes them unique and different? What is their outlook on Students? What about the other teachers? What is their personality like? What is their plan for the future?
Samara Salazar is a moderately sized woman standing at 5’8,” and weighing around 130 lbs with a toned body from her track background. Her hair is naturally red, which offsets the tanner skin she processes from her Hispanic background. Complimenting her red hair are deep-set blue eyes and the freckles covering her face. Samara likes to appear as what she calls a “fun-professional,” for example she’ll wear fun-colored pant suits along with different interesting jewelry pieces from her Broadway travels.
From the creator's standpoint, I’ve never seen a character like Samara, mainly because of her mixed European and Hispanic background; but also because of her outlook on life and the life she lived while growing up. Samara isn’t someone who wants a job that’s the same thing every day, she wants to live a new adventure daily; therefore she chose theater. When she decided to change her major, it was a different and personal decision based on what she was passionate about. This bridges me to her childhood, Samara was an only child who grew up in the upper class of California with parents that aspired for her to have the best, most successful life. Sometimes it was hard for her to fit the standard of their approval, but it was complicated when she switched her major from a job that was fixed to a major that made a lot of people homeless.
When Samara moved to London to be a part of the West End Theatre for Broadway, it was a dream come true; although she found herself longing for a sense of belonging. An American in London created a common foreign isolation. Once the summer started, she began teaching with West End Summer School which allowed students to work with Broadway professionals such as herself to advance their talent. She thoroughly enjoyed her time with the summer school, because of her experience helping high school students through their productions. Students give her a sense of accomplishment because she wants to allow them to take on their dreams without any doubts in themselves.
Samara values other teachers for the work they do because it’s not an easy job. Being able to give kids an education and opportunity for the world, while taking on the personal problems they may bring into the classroom takes empathy and strength. She loves connecting with other teachers and showing them her respect and admiration. Although sometimes teachers don’t get along, maintaining a professional relationship with them is the best way to continue a healthy work environment.
Samara Salazar comes off as a friendly, calm person to acquaintances because she wants to make a good impression on new faces. This is something she’s struggled with for a while, she always has to be perfect; whether it’s her personality or her appearance. She is a people-pleaser, but when it comes to arguments; she has learned to take her stance defensively. Once she becomes more comfortable in the relationship, you'll see that she is a confident, creative individual who values trust and communication in relationships.
Her plan for the future includes a lot of teaching and giving to theaters around the world. Samara wants to connect the technical side of the theater with performance theater because both aspects have to be interconnected for a good performance. Life accomplishments like getting married and having children aren’t as important to her as having career accomplishments. Samara Salazar was born a performer and will die a performer.

Describe how your character ended up becoming a teacher and their previous life. It is optional to include earlier life but recommended.
(444 words)
Samara saw her first glimpse at the theater on a trip to New York City when she was 13. This glimpse was Broadway’s “The Phantom of the Opera,” which was an eye-opening experience for her because she had no connection to the arts following this. Her middle school was based around STEM and electives were sports. After this trip, she begged her parents to let her apply to Idyllwild Arts Academy to get a better understanding of why she loved the theater. They ultimately agreed with the promise that she would not take the Arts seriously after high school.
When the Academy accepted Samara, life became difficult. Everyone who was accepted to this school knew each other before and had already been in recognized productions. What ignited a fire in Samara was the mistreatment she received for pursuing the tech side of the theater. Actors were sending obnoxious, degrading comments to her purely because they think they were better.
After she graduated from Idyllwild Arts Academy, she applied to the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor for Kinesiology in pursuit of being a Physical The****** like she promised her parents. Samara was often bored with her classes which were primarily science like biology, chemistry, anatomy, and more. Among these classes, she enjoyed psychology, because it gave her ideas of character development in scripts she read during her free time. Three years into the Sports Psychology program, she accelerated her graduation earning a bachelor's in Sports Psychology; but she decided to stay in school to experience the amazing musical theater program Michigan has to offer. Samara decided to learn Theatre Design and Production with a BFA in Directing. The university, while being a great opportunity, still separated technical theater from performance theater. As a part-timer, Samara decided to teach at Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor, where she taught young aspiring technicians about all the sides of the theater. Samara loved working with the students, allowing them new opportunities that previous teachers refused to offer such as giving a student the chance to learn a new area of tech they’ve never even thought about before.
Unfortunately, following graduation with a Ph.D. and a BFA, she had to find a stable job to keep her afloat. Therefore she applied to Broadway theaters across the globe, in hopes of traveling. Offers from West End Theatre in London best suited her pursuits to see European countries. Upon arriving at West End, she decided to begin teaching again after the Broadway season at their Summer School for children and adults. There she taught all aspects of theater including tech, directing, dance, and acting.
