Describe your activity on the server:
I’ve been on the server for three years now, within that time I’ve been a part of quite a few factions, these vary from EMS, KPD, CrimeRP and sports twice.

After my last time in KPD, I went to CrimeRP for a bit, though it wasn’t something I stuck with for long, the next was my volleyball team days, which I found rather fun, and it got me more involved with the community at the time to learn more about how the jock side of SRP is, eventually I left the team, and a while later I’m currently on the football team, which I have been finding great so far, and I want to be able to do more on the server once again.

Aside from that, I log onto SRP almost daily, leading to me being on for multiple hours each time whilst taking breaks that vary in between. This may change once I find a job, though I doubt all my time will be taken up to the point that I can’t log on at all.

What is your motivation for applying?:
As I said before, I’ve been in KPD prior, just over a year and a half ago now. I’ve managed to explore other opportunities since then, and recently I’ve found myself missing the people from this faction. Aswell was missing the little things such as being able to branch out and roleplay with the many different factions, the many different roleplay situations that stem from being an officer, and the overall community between EMS and KPD, the ability to talk to people and bond with jokes without having to log on was always great, which has led to me wanting to try to be a part of it once more.

With my past experience of being KPD, and formerly GangRP’ing, I believe that I have a good understanding of how both factions work, whether that be from an in-character perspective, or oocly when it comes to hard situations that need to be worked out.

What knowledge do you have of Police Work?
I would say that I have a good idea of how the faction functions, that is as long as it hasn’t changed too much over the time that I have been gone. Within the time that I have been gone and debating trying to rejoin, I’ve spent my time refreshing my mind on how the faction works, alongside the rules when it comes towards situations like combat, et cetera to the best of my abilities.

There are two divisions within the faction, these being the main and detective division, whilst the two have many differences, they share very similar duties.

A few of those are as follows:

Front Desk - An officer will man the front desk ensuring that anybody that comes in is seen to, this can be a variety of things from simple questions, to having to take a police report of a situation.
Trials - Officers may need to attend court trials for a few reasons, mainly when somebody is suing the department or a specific officer, though they may need to attend other trials that may not involve them as security, or when an inmate is involved
Reports - An individual that might’ve witnessed, or been a victim of a crime can come to the station to file a report to keep a record of what happened. In some cases, these may help a person with getting a restraining order.
Raids - These occur for a few reasons, whether it be someone being arrested for illegal weaponry, or exigent circumstances that require immediate forced entry to possibly save a victim, et cetera.

The detective division has more tasks, though I’m not sure how much I can say of what they do other than investigating further into cases that the main division may pass over, or not be able to be a part of.

Both of these divisions have separate rankings, which each officer can progress through, all applicants will start at the role of Police Cadet until they have completed training, in which they will get a promotion to Police Officer. Afterwards, there are then two paths to take, the first being staying within the main division, or attempting to become a detective.

For Main Division, the progression is such: Police Officer ↣ Corporal ↣ Sergeant ↣ Lieutenant (HU) ↣ Captain (HU)

For the Detective Division, it goes: Police Officer ↣ Detective Constable ↣ Detective Inspector ↣ Detective Sergeant ↣ Detective Chief Inspector (HU) ↣ Detective Superintendent (HU)

Below is a list of a few items that are used by the faction, there are plenty more, however.

Stun Blaster
A stun blaster that immobilises for one minute upon hitting.
Tranquilizer (SGT, DI)
A tranquilizer that shoots a dart to put someone to sleep for two minutes.
Handcuffs
A pair of trusty handcuffs, used to restrain someone.
First Aid Kit
(ITEMRP)
A kit containing basic medical supplies, allowing for five minutes to be added onto a bleedout timer.
Body Camera
A camera that is a part of an officers uniform, it records. Wow!
Luminol Spray
(ITEMRP)
A substance that is sprayed onto an item, revealing any blood that may have been cleaned with water.
Police Radio
A radio used to communicate within the department, with the ability to swap onto a frequency to talk to hospital workers, and town hall employees
Pepper Spray
A canister of spray used to blind an individual for two minutes, requiring an action and no roll to be successfully used, however it wont have an effect on someone wearing a gas mask.
Crowbar (CPL)
A crowbar used to open locked doors and containers, it can be mugged with an action and successful roll.
Police Baton
An offensive weapon available to officers in self defence, requiring two hits to the head with successful rolls to knock out an individual, can be mugged with an action and a roll.
Police Bike
A police bike that is available to corporals and above.
Police Cruiser
A police cruiser that is available to sergeants and above.

Why is Police important to SchoolRP?
KPD is one of the main factions when it comes to SRP, without it, the server would miss out on quite a bit of roleplay, such as GangRP. The two factions keep one another alive. Though this isn’t all, alongside this another thing that would be lost would be DeliquentRP, the two are similar, but different at the same time, though it’s the same outcome, as there's no ‘fear’ of consequences to actions.

There are many more situations where KPD is needed that doesn’t involve criminals, though it’s not as common.

I do believe that KPD is in a sense, a support beam that connects many factions together. There is obviously the link between KPD and EMS where they need to attend emergency calls together, call one another over the radio and so on. Another example would be KPD and Town, whilst there are trials that happen without a situation from KPD, the two joined together give the players the opportunity to plead not guilty and have a case roleplayed out, yet another one would be that judges approving the raids that are put out, which creates even more roleplay between the two factions.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are needed to attend or you will be punished?
Yes, I understand this.

What's your character's full name?:
“My full name is Jae-won Shào”

How old is your character (if accepted)?:
“I am twenty eight years old.”

What are your character's gender and pronouns?:
“I go by he/him pronouns.”

Please select your highest academic role at the time of writing this application:
(Grade-12/Bachelors/Masters/PhD):

“I hold a master's degree in music.”

What languages does your character know besides Japanese?:
“I’m a bit rusty in Mandarin due to not visiting home in quite a while, fluent in Japanese.”

Describe your character; how they look, what makes them unique?
Shào, a man of Chinese descent standing at a height of five foot eleven. A pair of dark gray eyes were idly roaming the room, complimenting the short, black hair that lay above them, with multiple piercing holes on either of his ears, and one on his nose. A physique that was rather lean, it was evident he worked out, just not as much as others.

What makes him stand out the most? The sleeve tattoo on his right arm, mainly black ink following a certain design, with hints of dark orange, almost gold highlights hidden within, continuing to trail up his arm and across elsewhere, though it was typically covered up and not seen to most.

How does your character act in a professional/casual situation?
Casual;

Whilst Shào can be a sociable person, he has a tendency to keep most people at an arms length away. Those who manage to get close see a completely different person, a man that is more relaxed, open and willing to have those conversations that he never normally gets to enjoy.

Professional;
In a professional setting, his demeanor shifts from that quiet, closed off personality that he typically holds. Shào becomes a person that people can rely on, focusing on the tasks at hand rather than guarding himself off from people. The sudden shift between the two situations was something that he was still attempting to get used to, though the progress he had made so far was something that he could be proud of.

What is their outlook on the idea of co-workers & teamwork?
“Honestly? I can’t say I’ve ever had to work in a team properly, when it comes to a job that is. My past jobs were very limited when it came to this, though back in like, school days there were obviously plenty.” A pause. “I enjoyed it back then, being a part of a team, having people to bounce ideas off and having people to work with was fun, so this opportunity is exciting, the potential of getting that once again in an actual job is something I want to continue working towards.”

What's your character's backstory?

(0-12)

Enter Jae-won, born on March 4th 1998 into a half-Korean, half-Chinese family that consisted of two other siblings alongside of him, being the younger one by quite a few years. The three grew up with their parents in a small apartment, located in a rural town in Yangshuo, China.

The first few years of his life were spent with his siblings looking after him, due to their parents always having to attend work meetings, though they always made time when possible. A few years later he began walking, managing to pick up on talking rather quickly, though it was broken Mandarin, as expected for a kid so young. Alas, it was time for him to begin his journey in school, the basic curricular classes for a primary school.

School, where to begin with this? Of course Jae-won struggled to get used to it at first, as did any other young kid starting a new schedule so suddenly, to no surprise, a kid who learnt to speak so young had managed to turn into a boy that was loud. Nothing stopped him from speaking to people, making as many friends as he possibly could within his school life, and all actions have consequences, right? Those consequences came crashing down onto him before he had time to realise, his grades began to drop, and he felt like there was nothing he could do to fix them. A loss, one that he would have to take and hope for the best.

(12-18)
What went wrong? Middle school was meant to be a fresh start, a clean slate compared to his old one at primary school. With his previous grades declining, and a new school year starting just around the corner, Jae-won was scolded heavily for his actions back then, and his choices were no longer his, and his path was carved out by his parents. Music, something he tried to argue against at first. As time went by, he slowly accepted that there was nothing he could do but abide by his parents' wishes. It was a harsh change, going from the extroverted kid he once was, to an entirely different person. All that he could do at the time was focus on his studies, feeling as if he no longer had the room to be the kid he once was. The last thing he wanted to do was let his parents down /again/ and that, he was not going to do.

A year or so later and he was excelling in his class, he managed to surprise himself in his own ability to understand music, and managing to play an instrument, or two. Of course he wasn’t the best with what he could play, there was definitely a lot of room for improvement, yet the progress he was making was something not only his parents were proud of, but something he was proud of as well.

But there was always something missing for him, Jae-won lacked the passion, the drive to continue trying was slowly fading away from him, yet he knew he had to stay in control and power through it. It became something that felt like a chore to him, not something that he was once able to take pride in. And a new feeling replaced that, anxiety. - The constant pressure of knowing he had to perform at his very best began tearing him down brick by brick until he had finally cracked.

High school arrived, and he continued to walk the path that was chosen for him, there was no denying the fact that he couldn’t stray away from his music now, and his improvement stayed consistent over time, it became clearer to him and his parents that he definitely had a talent for it, maybe this was something he would have been able to enjoy if it was something he had control over. That thought stayed in his mind for months, before he finally realised that this was his reality now.

(18-21)
College was the next step in his life, the countless hours that he had put into studying were proving to finally be paying off, maybe it wasn’t all for nothing. As he continued to attend his classes, a thought kept running across his mind, how did people enjoy music so freely? Something he felt he would never be able to relate to, for him it was a task, a chore that he could never fail. Although he knew he had to continue pushing forward, there wasn’t anything else he could fall back onto now.

And that he did, dedicating the rest of the years of college into his education, graduating with a masters degree in music something that should have felt like an achievement, did not. A new choice presented itself; to continue with music, or not?

(21-28)
The latter was chosen, taking that degree and walking away. For once in his life, the choices were finally his to make. Freedom, for once in the many years since he had ever had it, was now the opportunity to be that person he once was, but he couldn’t, he didn’t know how too. For the longest time music was his entire life, and he was walking away from the very thing he understood the most.

And with that, Jae-won decided that it was time for a break, away from the place that he had lost himself in. Next stop, Hechi! A place that was relatively close to home, but not exactly far, either. A few hours later from his departure, he had arrived there, renting an apartment and settling in over the course of the next few days. He spent his free time simply wandering around the city, taking it all in, though there was one question that he couldn’t seem to find the answer to: “What am I doing here?” A certain uncertainty about his new change. Jae-won found himself in a park, sitting on a bench whilst that question repeated itself, until someone came along and started a conversation that he was not expecting.

A conversation that he couldn’t forget, he caught himself thinking about it over the span of the next few days, his phone lighting up with a notification as he responded to it. And once again, the two met once again, this time however, it was not coincidence. The beginning of a brand new friendship had presented itself between the two. And for him, Celina became the first person who didn’t expect anything from him, but a person who wanted to know the real him.Weeks passed by, and they had continued their conversations, meeting up and hanging out with one another often enough for their connection to grow stronger.

A year later, and he was still in that city with no intentions of returning home, he felt as if he had finally found a piece of himself that was missing for years, and he was content with that. One day, the two started speaking about starting somewhere fresh outside of China, beginning to search for a new place to call home, until they had found a place called Karakura, visiting a few times to scope out and see if it was what they really wanted, and that it was. With a new place to live, time also came by to find work, something that /he/ could finally choose for himself, finding himself up at night scrolling through places to work, Karakura Police Department flashed up onto his laptop, looking for new applicants. And so, he began writing out his application, awaiting the response.

General knowledge

Can you legally own a pocket knife in Karakura?
“No, owning a pocket knife or any sort of weapon is against the law, all coming with a felony if you are found with one. With or without the crime rate in this town, it’s more than a justifiable charge in my books.”

Name 5 medical items that do NOT require a prescription
“There’s quite a few that you don’t need a prescription for, some of these being; paracetamol, obviously. It’s not strong, just basic over the counter medicine.”

“Vitamins, thankfully. Nutrient intake can’t be that controlled when it comes to certain illnesses, and so forth.”

“Melatonin is another, being the medication that can help a patient that has struggles with sleeping.”

“Let’s see, the wooden cane is another, I think that one's pretty self-explanatory on how it assists people.”

“Cough syrup, some call this a life saver when you have a nasty cough that doesn’t seem to budge, though it’s fifty-fifty whether it works or not.”

If you see your co-workers physically abusing an inmate, what should you do?
“I’d collect as much evidence as possible initially, to stop any claims that I was lying, or the situation didn’t happen, and ask for a higher-up to come to the cells as fast as possible, whilst waiting for them I would attempt to get the co-worker away from the inmate, restraining them if the situation calls for it, the inmate may or may not need medical treatment, in which I would check them over quickly, and radio for EMS if the inmate needs it, then I would inform the higher-up of what happened, and let them deal with it.”

What should you do if you see your co-worker being assaulted?
“I would pull out my stun blaster from its holster, aiming it at the suspect that was attacking the officer and order them to stop, deploying my taser, further going to restrain them with a pair of handcuffs and tell them what they are being charged with, secondly I would go over to my colleague, examining any wounds that they may have received during the altercation and apply my medical kit where needs be, and getting them to the hospital to be examined by a professional, letting any other on duty officers know the situation that occurred.”

What do you do if you find out that your co-worker is corrupt and is helping criminal organizations?
“At first, I would make sure what I’ve seen and found has been documented accordingly, that’s the only immediate thing I could do in the moment, my next action would be going straight for the higherups, to inform them of the situation that occurred and give them any evidence or information they needed for them to conduct their own investigation, as that would be out of my hands at that point.”

How would you react to a criminal trying to bribe you?
“I would say no, and inform them that that will be another charge for bribery being added onto their existing charges already. I don’t know why someone would be so silly to try and bribe an officer that is already arresting them, just asking for it really.”
