Describe your activity on the server:
Since mid 2022, which is when I joined SRP, I’ve enjoyed the server and been a part of the community. I’ve had many roles in the Faculty Faction where I took on being a teacher more than once, a Librarian, as well as a Receptionist. Within the Sports Faction, I’ve been a part of the basketball team multiple times, the baseball team, as well as the football team (though, this one was short lived). Currently, I’m on the female college volleyball team.I’ve enjoyed many corners of the school part of School Roleplay.

My work schedule varies weekly, so even in the times that I am unavailable, I may be available.

What experiences do you have with roleplay?:
The experiences I have with roleplay surpass Roleplay Hub. As embarrassing as it may be, I used to roleplay on Instagram and Roblox when I was in middle school. Let’s not judge, alright? We all started somewhere.. Though, since finding School Roleplay, I've had experiences in two areas. The faculty faction and sports teams.

The Faculty Faction has always been a go-to for me. When I want to do something new, I search through the Faculty Faction to see what positions I could apply for. My experiences within it consists of being an English and Math teacher, Librarian, and Receptionist. Though, I quickly realized those weren't for me. I may try for Chef in the future, or P.E. teacher. Those are the only ones I think I'd ever want to do. My favorite of those was my math teacher from a few years ago. I played him for a while and experienced family roleplay, as well as romance roleplay. He had a husband and a few children. It was a really fun experience and I hope to have as much fun with other adult characters in the future. So far, I haven't had much luck.

Sports teams have always been such a fun experience, as well. They have the biggest player count involved with it, and for me, has given me the most roleplay. My experiences with it have varied. I started off on the high school female basketball team as my first team. It was a very inactive team, as far as I remember and the captain left shortly after I'd joined. Then, the next captain lasted..... Less than a week? I was given the position after her. I was really new and had been thrown into a position really quickly upon joining the team. Nonetheless, it was a great experience, even if I wasn't the best of captains at the time. Afterwards, I left basketball to join baseball. Simply put, I thought the plugin was fun and had wanted something different after playing basketball for so long. Though, I think I went back to basketball a few weeks later due to a mix of people begging me to return and because the baseball team didn't give me much roleplay or plugin interaction since no one really liked playing it. It was one of those games that's kind of hard to 1v1 in, which made it hard to play it at all outside of practices. I went on about a two year break after that. When I returned, I joined basketball. AGAIN! Third times a charm, right? No. I got declined twice before finally getting accepted on my third attempt. So, maybe it is third times a charm. I was on the team for half a year, though, the team wasn't very into the roleplay scene or involved in any of the other teams at the time. It wasn't really until I gained the captain title after about six months or more on the team that we got more involved in rivalry. I'd gotten the chance to participate in big rivalry fights that consisted of a bunch of teams fighting each other, as well as, a more personal rivalry between my team and the college dodgeball team. I got to prank their house and turn it into a gross crime scene because their captain was a freak who liked creepy stuff.... So we framed her as a crazy murderer. It was fun! Being a captain the second time, having gotten the plain team member experience and the co-captain experience made it a much easier transition and experience for me.

I was captain for a few months, but got kind of drained by the position. It was exhausting, to be honest. I had a lack of interest in SRP at the time and felt so much pressure to be online, or I'd be labeled an "inactive captain", which was not a title I wanted especially since the captain before me had been given that and she was insulted a LOT. It was starting to cause me stress, and knew that it wasn't healthy to be feeling like that over a game. So, I left. I joined football shortly after, mainly because it felt like a good opportunity! Football has a reputation of being hard to get into and being a very roleplay heavy team. I managed to get in, somehow, because I'm terrible at the plugin. I suppose my roleplay was impressive enough to get on! That was mainly what they were looking for at the time, anyways. Despite that, I ended up leaving two weeks later mainly because I STILL felt crazy pressure to be online. That team is pretty strict about being active, and it made me nervous. It was a healthy choice to leave... I was team-less for a bit, but I missed the roleplay and the community that came with it. Volleyball has been a plugin that always looked SO hard to play. I always told myself it would be one of the plugins I never learn due to it's visibly difficult nature. However, when I was the basketball captain, I started learning the plugin and realized how fun it was. It is challenging, but I enjoyed learning a new plugin. Unlike basketball, I felt like I was at such a standstill with my skill. I was struggling to get better. With volleyball, I feel like there's so much room for growth and it feels possible. So when I saw that the college female team was hosting tryouts, and I had a college tag, I tried out. Thankfully, I made it and I'm currently a part of the team. I've never been on a college team. This is my first time and it's introduced me to a lot of new people. The college tags consists of a lot less players compared to the high school one, so I was worried I would be limited and not have enough interaction. I thought I'd be really bored. I'm not though! It's really fun and due to the lower player count for college tags it makes everyone more close-knit.

What is your motivation for applying?
After having experienced so much of the sports and jock part of SRP as well as the Faculty Faction, I've been really wanting to join EMS. Every time it's opened for applications, I've wanted to try for a position. However, I was never really prepared nor in the mood to write a long and detailed application for it. It would have been a waste of energy if I didn't give it my all. I know how high the stakes are and the low the chances of acceptance is. I've been working on this application for a few months. Well.. More like, it's been sitting in my Google Docs half complete for a few months and lately I've decided to put more effort into it. To be honest, I didn't know if I wanted EMS specifically, I was mainly thinking of just a city position. KPD felt intimidating because I don't know combat roleplay rules and I don't really enjoy that stuff anyways, so it was off the table. It wasn't until I was dragged along to a therapy appointment with a teammate that I knew psychiatrist was for me. I was able to sit back and watch the interaction of the appointment. The roleplay involved looked really intriguing. I was really iffy about being a doctor, because that kind of stuff freaks me out in real life. I hate broken bones, blood, etc, so having to roleplay that stuff out seemed gross. But, psychiatrist is a position that revolves around player's experiences, past and present, as well as their emotions. I'm a pretty empathetic person, so I feel that I'd excel in a position revolved around feelings.

Which role are you applying for?
Psychiatrist

What knowledge do you have of the roles within the Hospital Faction?
There is not much I know about the roles within the Hospital Faction. I won’t sit here and pretend like I do. I have very minimal knowledge, however, I am aware it is one of the harder factions within the server. In addition, I know there are three divisions in the Hospital.

Emergency Department: Paramedics are one of the departments that I have the least amount of information on. As far as I know, they’re responsible for off-site emergencies. For situations where the patient can’t come to the hospital, is in need of urgent care that cannot wait for transportation to the hospital, or there’s such a major incident that they need Doctors in the area ASAP, paramedics are there.

Doctor Department: Doctors can be found doing many things in the Hospital. Whether that be distributing medication, treating broken bones, minor or major injuries, as well as health conditions. There may be more to it than that, but I’ve got no knowledge on that.

Psychiatrist Department: Psychiatrists treat mental health as well as simply maintaining it. They schedule appointments with patients to talk about their trauma and routine to make sure they are emotionally well. I believe they can diagnose mental illness as well.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are expected to attend or you will be punished?
Yes.

SECTION 1: PERSONAL DETAILS
Character’s Full Name:
A short 5'1 woman enters the office, her heels clicking against the hard tile beneath her. She greets the interviewer with a warm smile before taking a seat, straightening out her white button up and pencil skirt. She clears her throat as she folds her legs
neatly.
Good evening. I'm Aretha Sakurai.

Character’s Gender and Pronouns:
Aretha hands over her folder as she answered the question. The folder consists of her resume, academic history, licenses, along with other important documents.
I'm a female, cisgender. I go by she/her.

Character’s Age (if accepted):
She maintained eye contact, nodding along as the interviewer read through some papers, eventually landing on the question of age. A visible nervousness overtook for a short moment before Aretha pushed it away and maintained her confident smile. Her young age would show her lack of experience, all she could hope was that the hospital wasn't only looking for the most experienced rather than the most driven.
I'm 26.

Character’s Academic Background:
(Grade-12/Bachelor/Masters/PhD)

Sakurai's eyes were glued to the interviewer flipping through her folder. As they ****yzed every document, degree, and license, she smiled to herself with pride for all she's accomplished at her age. She hoped the interviewer felt similarly.
I've got my high school diploma, of course. I graduated from Kyoto University, which I attended for six years, with my Bachelors of Medicine. I took my National Medical Practitioner's exam the same year I graduated. Afterwards, I attended postgrad clinical training for two years. Since then, I've been working as a resident psychiatrist in a local hospital. However, I'd like to move to Karakura and be able to continue my work.

Character’s Nationality:

Aretha held her hands against her knee, sitting properly as she faced the interviewer.
My nationality is Japanese.
Character’s Marital Status:
This woman has been so career driven and focused on her schooling for years, she hasn't batted an eye towards a man in ages. She simply smiled politely, pushing her red slim glasses up the bridge of her nose.
Single.
Character’s Religious Denomination:

She waves her hand around as she spoke up on the topic of Religion, a topic she doesn't take overly seriously.
I lightly follow Shintoism. Lightly.
Character’s Spoken Languages:

She clears her throat, giving an awkward smile as her eyes met the interviewers as she pushes her glasses back up her nose.
Japanese is my only spoken language.
Character Backstory (Optional):
Aretha Sakurai was raised in a rural, mountainous town. Her family consists of her two parents and a brother who was older by four years. Her parents weren't bad ones. They fed and clothed them, gave them a roof over their head. However, they were one of those parents that don't take illness seriously. Mental health? That's made up. Don't let that stupid stuff get to your head. You're sick and need the hospital? You're being dramatic. It can't be that bad. You'll be fine. To them, nothing like that could happen to THEIR family. But, the sad reality they weren't ready to face was that it COULD happen to them. And it was. Their son was suffering with major depression right in front of them, but they brushed it off as rebellion and disrespect rather than their son needing help. She was still a kid when she witnessed her brother's depression for the first time. He refused to get out of bed, he missed a few days of school and hadn't moved from that spot in his bed. His blinds had remained closed, stacks of cups and plates sat on his night stand, piles of clothes were scattered across his floors. Their parents' response was to lecture him. Why were his teachers calling about his absences? When did he become so lazy and dirty? Aretha didn't understand. Her brother was usually a very upbeat guy. As far as she knew, at least. Had it been a mask? She asks that now, but at the time she only knew what her parents expressed. He was only being lazy.

As she got older, her brother's behavior had wavered back and forth. Energetic to quiet. Neat to dirty. Loving the outdoors and sports to rotting in his bed for weeks. It was giving her whiplash, so she could only imagine what he was going through. Even seeing these behavioral changes, she couldn't begin to imagine the emotional and mental toll depression was taking on him. The things that were going on inside that couldn't be understood from a simple personality switch. Either way, she could tell it was more than just him rebelling. A rebellious teen doesn't do all of this to be against his parents. Not for this long. Not to this extent. She did her own research at a local net cafe, finding a reason for these changes in her brother. She came across results pointing towards mental illness. Depression, anxiety, etc. She didn't know much about this stuff. Her parents always talked about how it was made up and people were just trying to be special. Though, after reading some articles, she knew it was real. Her parents felt otherwise, but she knew. She couldn't look at her brother the same. Every time their eyes met, even just for a second, all she could see was this boy who was struggling all alone. It broke her heart.

All throughout high school, she watched her brother get worse. His depression was untreated and their parents wouldn't help him. If anything, all they did was make him feel worse. Every conversation they would have with him was visibly draining him. She saw it in the way he sighed and the droopiness in his eyes. In high school, you get told a lot about how you need to make a choice on what your life past high school will be. You have to make the big choice of your future career. For Aretha, it was an easy pick. She wanted to be the kind of person who could help those who are struggling like her brother. She wanted to be a safe place for people who are in need of support, emotionally. It was an ambitious goal, however, she'd already worked hard in school to maintain good grades and be the top of her class. She was already a brilliant candidate for many prestigious schools. She was accepted into Kyoto University, which was ranked #2 in Japan in the QS World University Rankings, studying medicine.

During her time at Kyoto University, she participated in a medical research paper, co-authoring it. Additionally, she participated in a study regarding depression in adolescents, and completed a research project that examined early signs of depression in teenagers. She was an accomplished student who was driven by her own experiences. Aretha had passion. Her peers and teachers could see it radiating off of her. Throughout her terms, she assisted her brother in getting diagnosed and seeking help. He started attending therapy weekly and taking antidepressants. He was returning to the brother she'd missed so dearly. Aretha graduated top of her class and went on to go through postgraduate clinical training.

Currently, Aretha works as a resident Psychiatrist at
Municipal Iizuna Hospital. She's been there for about three months. However, she's looking to relocate. Specifically, to Karakura. She goes through with applying to the city's hospital and goes through the process of getting an interview set up. With her recommendations, accomplishments, and important documents in hand, she enters Karakura's hospital with her head held high.

SECTION 2: MEDICAL HISTORY
What is your character’s medical specialty? Why did they choose this focus?
Aretha nodded along to the interviewers voice, listening attentively. She perked up at the question.
Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is my specialty. As a kid, I watched my older brother deal with depression that went untreated. His behavior was often dismissed and labeled as him being difficult. Of course, at a young age I couldn't understand it. I didn't know the reason behind his behavior. But, it was a big switch from the sweet older brother that I remembered. When I got older, I learned more about mental health and realized what my brother had been going through alone for so long. I'm a strong advocate for mental health and therapy to parents now. There are so many older parents, especially here in Japan, that simply neglect their child's mental health. I hope that I am able to make a difference and be there for kids and teens like my brother that get brushed off, and those who don't.

Does your character have any work experience in medical positions?
She nervously furrowed her brows, fidgeting with the bottom of her skirt.
I've been a resident psychiatrist in Municipal Iizuna Hospital for about three months. That concludes my work experience.

SECTION 3: CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE
Describe your character; how do they look, what makes them unique? How would they be perceived by others?

The interviewer looks over the Afro-Asian woman sat across from them. She was a brown-skinned beauty with long brown hair. It was styled in curls. You could smell the heat that was used, despite her attempts at covering it up in lavender scented perfume. Aretha was slim, sat in an ironed white button up and a black pencil skirt. The interviewer brought his eyes to her features. Brown round eyes, strong jawline, long and slim nose, and full heart shaped lips. Sakurai carried herself with confidence, most of the time... That confidents has faltered once or twice in this interview, making it questionable on whether or not that confidence was ever real. Aretha blinked, with her long lashes coated in mascara fluttered. Her brow raised, she dragged her tongue across her teeth.
Is there something in my teeth?

How does your character act around the hospital?
Aretha shrugged off whatever awkwardness was lingering when the interviewer silently stared just a moment ago. They were met with a soft smile.

Around the hospital, I give it my best to keep an upbeat vibe and positive light while maintaining the seriousness of situations that arise in the hospital. There is so much sadness in the halls, whether it be with patient's families or patients themselves. They are all here, getting treated for something, and it's very rarely a positive experience. After all, we're all here working hard to help people that are going through things. Physically or mentally. No one is here because they're okay. It's hard for them all to stay positive. Someone needs to be that light at the end of their tunnel, to be that person that gives them hope. I try my hardest to be that. To encourage everyone to keep pushing. That it's all worth the push and the hardship.

Does your character function better on their own or with others?
Sakurai scratched her chin as she thought back to the past few months. What kind of experiences has she had with colleagues?

Seeing as I've only been a resident for three months, I've had to see to my superiors a few times due to my slight lack of experience in the field. I was always polite and professional, same with my colleagues. I can assure you I've gained plenty of experience now. All the higher ups and even my fellow residents, I treated them with respect. I'd say I excel with others, but I can work steadily on my own.
