Receptionist
In as much detail as possible, describe the employee role you are applying for:
The receptionist is the first welcoming face students see when they enter the school! They are vital for roleplay opportunities, but also for helping new players with any questions or concerns they might have ICly and OOCly. Another major part of the receptionist's job is communication in general. As previously stated, they must be able to answer any and all questions thrown their way with easy-to-understand information. If a question is one they might not be able to answer, the receptionist must know who to redirect the inquirer to, whether that be a teacher or SLT.
What experience, in general, do you have in roleplay?:
I've been active on SchoolRP since about 2022. Within these past four years, I've had the pleasure of experiencing multiple different roleplay situations, factions, and opportunities. The first ever faction I applied to was the school faction. I joined the High School Council in 2023, as well as becoming a Librarian. Both roles were short-lived due to a two month study abroad program I attended, but I really enjoyed my time while it lasted. Returning to the server, I joined College Female Basketball as my first sports faction team. I'd say this was my first true taste of RivalryRP and JockRP, and I loooooved it. This is also when I began really trying to develop my writing skills and detailRP. Looking back I definitely cringe, but seeing the clear difference in ability is rewarding. I moved to the College Female Football team in 2024, as well as becoming a Teacher around the same time. Discovering TeacherRP wasn't exactly my forte, I left the faction and joined the College Cheer team (which has been the longest team I've been on--about a year and a half so far)! The last faction I've had the pleasure in experiencing is the EMS faction and it was so much fun, though as you can see my heart wants what it wants... and that's the school faction (^_-)
Why do you want to join the School Employee faction?:
It's clear from my timeline above that I always find my way back to the school faction. While I've made the effort to branch out into other roleplay opportunities and have enjoyed each moment, I've learned that the school faction is the one I call home. Out of my librarian and teacher experience, I much preferred being a librarian, though I had to quit at the time due to IRL circumstances. I'd like to return to the school employee faction, while trying a new position once more--hence the receptionist application.
I'm also heavily motivated by the want to revive my adult character's roleplay. Since leaving the EMS faction, I haven't done much with her and I truly do love her character. It's been a shame to let her go to waste, and I think she would thrive as a school employee!

During a work-shift a student starts cursing at you for being pathetic, how does your character react?:
There’s not much a student could say that would be worse than what Ayana has heard from her own sisters. A childhood in Chicago gave the Lise sisters a very… colorful vocabulary. A stoic, unwavering expression would meet the student’s rage. A few blinks given here and there. “Are you done?” Rhetorical question. Lise didn’t wait for a response. “I find you spending your time cursing me out–a school employee–rather pathetic in itself. You could be doing anything else right now. Where are your friends?” Oh! Another rhetorical question. Lise assumed they didn't have many if this is what they were doing. A manicured hand slipped into her pocket, retrieving none other than her handy-dandy detention slips. A few scribbles and a tear later, the slip found its way into the student’s hands. “Let’s refrain from using that kind of language when you’re at school, and especially when speaking to an adult. Save them for detention. You can make a list of every glimmering vocab word you know.” Would the sarcasm land for the student? Who knows, but it wasn’t Lise’s issue any longer.
You notice two students are physically fighting in the hallway, – multiple punches have been thrown – how does your character react?:
Seriously? Ayana’s orbs lost their warmth, rolling to the heavens and back. Her gaze dulled into a bitter shade of cold espresso. There was never a valid reason for a fight. Shoving through the crowd, Lise made it to the center. “Everyone back up!” She motioned for the bystanders to give her some breathing room in the hopes that no one would get caught in the crossfire. A screech echoed through the hallway as Ayana spun on her heel, locking in on the culprits. “That’s enough.” For a woman with such a short stature, her tone of voice certainly made up for it. If this where her sisters fighting, she’d be right in the middle, tearing them apart. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case, and Lise was a rule follower, so she waited for the pair to cease fire. “Are either of you badly hurt?” Ayana needed no answer for her medical training kicked in as she scanned each student for any injuries. If there were, she would have escorted the student to the nurse and had another faculty member stay with the counterpart. Thankfully, there were none. “You know the rules, correct? No fighting on school grounds. Whatever disagreement you’ve had is not worth getting yourself or anyone else here injured.” Detentions were issued promptly and Lise took notes of the incident to report it to her supervisor to follow up on any disciplinary actions.
Another school employee is clearly acting inappropriately, doing something very dangerous on the job, how does your character react?:
Ayana would not act on impulse, rather with caution. Evidence would be gathered discreetly (whether that be notes or photos/videos), and she would make sure she had a clear understanding before getting involved. Once she was certain of the situation at hand, Ayana would approach her colleague and ask her to explain what was going on. She believed everyone was innocent until proven guilty, and would hear them out fairly. Ayana waited until they were finished explaining as to not interrupt, and when done, she would explain how incredibly reckless that was and how it could put not only herself, but others in danger. Depending on the response, Ayana would report the action to SLT, along with any evidence obtained.
When in the employee break room, how does your character act?
Ayana had felt very isolated when working at the hospital, and it wasn’t necessarily to the fault of her peers. She was so focused on doing her job well that socializing was never in the cards. Being a school employee was a fresh start for her, and she would not mess it up. A very perceptive individual, Ayana knew how to read the room. She wouldn’t approach someone who clearly wished to be left alone. If someone looked open to socialize however, Ayana would happily insert herself in the conversation. She might even be the one to bring donuts to the break room, in hopes to bring a smile to the faces of her colleagues. Ayana yearned for friends, and while she loved her sisters dearly, she hoped to make some her own age.

/me answered the reception phone, coiling the cord around her finger. “Good morning, Karakura High School and Community College. This is Ayana speaking, how can I help you?” The phone was swiftly tucked between her ear and shoulder, her now free hands finding her lilac post-it notes and pen. “Mm. Mhm. Got it.” The pen glided across the paper, bullet points being jotted down quickly. It was surprising how legible her handwriting was at that speed. “Alright, I’ll mark his absense as excused. Thank you for calling!” The phone clicked back into place as Lise turned to her computer and the screen came to life. She always appreciated when parents called to explain the mysterious absences of the students.
/me offered the student a soft smile as they approached the desk. “Hi! How can I help you?” As the student spoke, she nodded her head slowly, dark strands shifting with the movement. “If you head left of reception and turn right at the end of the hall, you’ll find the cafeteria. You shouldn’t miss it.” She spoke with her hands, waving them in the way of her directions. “Oh, and I think they’re serving ramen for lunch! Sounds good, right?”
/me balanced a stack of papers in hand, filing them away in each cabinet. Ayana felt like she could finally breathe with each organizational task she completed. Reaching under her desk, she retrieved a bag of sugar-free lollipops and began restocking. A student passed by, stopping to eye the candy. “Take one! They’re for everyone.” Ayana shoved the lolli-filled cup over, smiling as they picked out their favorite flavor.

Ayana took a long pause, gathering her thoughts with care. A hand combed through her tressed absent-mindedly, before stilling in the dark locks. Unraveling her fingers from the curls, Ayana’s chin lifted and her gaze was brought back to meet her interviewer. “There’s a part of me that will always want to help others. The same part of me that led me to pursue my dream of being a doctor overseas. I don’t think that part of me will ever die, it’ll just mutate into a different form.” Gone was the restless simmer. Her chestnut irises softened ever so slightly, a testament to how strongly she felt on the matter. “I want to be apart of something bigger than myself- which yes, I know that sounds silly after leaving my position at the hospital, but I just needed a change. And I believe one can make a difference in the world wherever they are. With my sister Clarke still attending this college, it was really no question on where I wanted to go next.”
Why should you be accepted over the other applicants?:
Lise’s posture straightened instantly, her expression perking up. Had she been waiting for this question? “I might be a bit over qualified than others- and by no means do I say that in an egotistical manner. I just strongly believe that I would excel in this position.” Ayana lifted her hand, french-manicured fingers ticking up to emphasize each point. “I have work experience as a receptionist in the hospital and many of those skills transform over to the school. I’m a quick learner, as you can see from my accelerated six-year medical program I attended right out of high school. And I’m personable, per my bartending experience. You can't argue with that, can you?” Satisfied with her answer, Lise relaxed her shoulders and leaned back in her seat.

Ayana was born as the eldest Lise daughter in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up helping take care of her younger sisters, Jhene and Clarke. Ayana exhibited practically every symptom of EDS (Eldest Daughter Syndrome). Growing up, the Lise sisters were raised with deep roots in their heritage, often taking trips to the Dominican Republic to visit their extended family. While the importance of family is quite universal, Dominican culture raised it above all else, holding it higher than one's individual desires. Ayana learned that the love of her family had no end, but also that the lines of her personal boundaries were easily blurred. She took on the role as the ‘third parent’ instantly: cooking, cleaning, babysitting, and doing just about everything else a parent would do. A perfectionist, people-pleaser, and hyper-responsible girl, Ayana checked every box. With her impressive personality resume, it was no surprise when Ayana took an interest in the healthcare field.

Following her high school graduation, Ayana attended the International University of Health and Welfare in Narita, Japan. They had an incredible six-year medical program tailored specifically for international students. In the beginning, her lessons were taught primarily in English alongside intensive Japanese training. Graduating with an Igakushi (the Japanese equivalent of a Doctor of Medicine), Dr. Lise moved to Karakura to begin working at the Karakura Hospital. Her sisters took advantage of this move and tagged along, attending KHS and KCC.

After completing her rigorous two-year residency, Ayana had a change of heart (more widely known as the midlife crisis). Spending time with her family meant more to her than becoming a successful doctor, and so she did not want to waste another second locked up behind those hospital walls. Much to her parents’ dismay, Ayana quit.
The few months following her healthcare job were her version of a ‘gap year speedrun.’ Ayana bartended at Seikatsu and dedicated the rest of her freetime to her sisters. When Jhene had had enough of Karakura and returned to Chicago, Ayana thought it was time to get a proper job, leading her to apply to be a school employee.
One might think that the nurse position would be more suitable for a woman with such a career path, however Ayana didn’t want to think about another medical term for the time being.
