The shop I’m applying for is: ‘Midnight Tokers’
Why do you want to own a shop?:
I believe roleplay experience itself is an intriguing reason to apply. The role of Shop-Owner is not only an interesting one but one that many players don’t often get the opportunity to apply or obtain. I’d be interested in ‘finding out as I go along’ so to speak, not only to RP as an adult with no ties to the school itself, but to be able to RP out selling items and managing the store.
Being able to manage things, in my opinion, is the more ‘fun’ part of things, also being able to have other things to do than running around such as; opening, checking stock, etc. and possibly making future changes with plenty of opportunities for the future of the shop and roleplay itself. This alongside my past experiences and knowledge of shops; I'm well aware of how most of them function after multiple IC jobs and believe I'm fairly competent when it comes to leadership - as it states later in the application, I'm currently Volleyball captain which should not get in the way of activity and hopefully helps to show my activity and dedication when it comes to projects and teams.
Currently, I spend the majority of my time roleplaying within my “social circle” In-Character, however, I find myself often bored, looking for things to do in-game or waiting for a shop that I work at to open. So, by applying I’m hoping to one day manage a shop of my own and to possibly keep an active employee roster. I believe that my current dedication to the stores I work at ICly will also reflect to shop-owning, I also believe that keeping up to date and occasionally changing and adding things to the store itself will also add to the excitement of shop ownership.
I believe my current activity is pretty high, I mostly spend my time on the account ‘KimiNoUso’, however, I tend to spread activity between my employee account ‘WagwanMate’ when appropriate – to stay active and keep the role. I also have around 107+ days playtime between accounts, so I believe that I’m a fairly active member of the community and will be able to keep up with the required amount of openings needed to keep an active shop.
As well as often seeing players running around looking for phones and general items that most stores sometimes don’t stock apart from the usual beer and in some cases more exciting options such as vodka, however, vapes and juuls aren’t currently sold elsewhere and it’d be nice to make Midnight Tokers more active again. This on top of players asking in OOC In-game about shops and when they'll be opened, I believe that I'd be active and dedicated enough to open the regular two times a day and occasionally more depending on player count and demand.
I also believe that the concept of a liquor store at the moment is still somewhat unique and the only thing it needs is an active owner to bring it back to life, I’d love to see/bring the shop back to life again.
What do you plan to do with the shop?:
I plan to keep the name ‘Midnight Tokers’ as it’s well-known amongst the community, however, I’d like to turn the shop into more of an ‘off-licence’ where I’d also sell items and cater for characters below the ages of Twenty In-Character which could include; phones, sandwiches-to-go, ice creams, etc. Making the shop more enticing to customers of all ages opposed to the regular 20+ items that the store is mostly filled with at the moment.
Remodelling of the shop:
I’d like for Midnight Tokers to be less ‘dark’ and more ‘inviting’, adding some colour where appropriate and possibly looking at changing the current layout of the interior. If it comes to remodelling the store in-game, I'd like to keep to as mentioned in the application similar to an 'off-licence', but I'd like to keep it as 'high-end' as possible, being able to possibly continue with an idea I elaborate further on in the application of a "Cigar lounge".
Discord & Worker Applications:
The 'website' itself - discord server - would include a range of channels including; worker announcements & rules, sales-logs, worker-chat, uniforms and inactivity-logs. For applications, everyone that enters the store – after /advert – will be directed to the discord server via /looc as a few shops currently do, preventing a large build up of people in the store and lag. After they've joined the discord server, they'll head to #applications, where they'll find a google form with a pre-made application format. The channel #applications will be re-hidden once applications are again closed.
I'd only plan on hosting one of these openings a month as I wouldn't need more than 6 workers. Also, I'd have everyone that was accepted from the application stage be called back In-Character for an interview where they'd be asked various questions regarding their application and about themselves/the store.
This is something I decided to create in my own time as I thought it'd be appropriate to better show my idea for applications and call backs for interviews. As for the In-Character interviews themselves; they'd consist of the store Manager and Owner sitting the applicant down to ask them a few questions - if the applicant is accepted, they'll be given keys ICly as well as an orientation.
The discord would also be a great opportunity to promote future events within the store itself, perhaps there could be a small competition event such as guessing the amount of vodka left in the bottle or a cook-out where drinks will be served cold at 25% off. These events would of course be /advertised, but I believe that also having a server would be brilliant to keep track of; stock, workers, etc. Other perks to the shop could include discounts on certain holidays and for certain groups of people.
How will your shop be unique?:
As mentioned above, I’d like to turn the store into somewhat of an ‘off-licence’, still keeping to the shop's original purpose of selling mainly alcohol, but having the shop sell small items to attract a slightly wider audience like the above suggestion of sandwiches-to-go as I believe alcohol alone won’t be as enticing considering the new In-Character law requiring the store to only sell to customers over the age of Twenty. – plus who wouldn’t want a snack with their drink?
Also stated above, I wish to host small events within the shop occasionally allowing and giving citizens of Karakura In-Character job opportunities as well as future social and in-store events, perhaps if I’m able to contact the owner of a few customs, there could be a small ‘closed’ bar event in which we allow ‘tasting’ of certain drinks.
I'd like to slowly begin buying custom items to sell exclusively within the store, some being relevant - such as food and drink - while others more 'stylish' and 'desirable' as I'm well aware that you cannot sell a custom item without the purchaser's direct permission. Currently, I am thinking of getting the following modelled; chewing gum, some kind of chips/crisps(?), kit-kat bar and possibly a few extra alcohol models, such as an improved beer bottle (Possibly corona or bud-light) – there's currently a bag already in 3d model requests that I could maybe sell as an 'exclusive' item.
Please bare in mind that I'm aware these will all have to be purchased through custom donation and am planning on eventually doing so to further benefit the store should this be accepted.
Another idea is to perhaps include a 'Cigar Lounge' to loyal customers or those that simply wish to join in, of course it will require them actually purchasing a cigar as well as a small entry fee. Unlike a club, this small side-gig could just be a small lounge or seating area for a small group of people (5 maximum at a time). All 'patrons' would be required to be over the age of 20 with a purchase history within the store. If I am to allow 'tasting' of drinks, this is most likely where they'd happen.
Couldn't find an exact reference, but that's a rough idea. When building, I most likely wouldn't have it be so luxury, however, with the store itself I plan on making it a little more updated and 'high-end' so to speak. Bare in mind this will most likely be out of the public eye, therefore will be a slight change of scene from the regular store front.
I also have a plan for a (possibly) more organised sorting system for stock as most of the places I've worked at go by the regular array of chests with the standard lockette signs which often seems like a maze until you get used to it. This will include a colour coding and numbering system for all of the chests and a small orientation for any workers before hand. Not sure if that could be considered unique, however, I thought I'd mention it.

Shop Owner
The role of a shop owner is quite apparent, they are in-charge of all employees and quality control as well as staying active and completing the set amount of openings for the month. They're also in-charge of ordering re-stocks.
Manager | 20+ – Maximum of: 1
The manager will be in-charge of choosing when/where to assign workers, whether one shift a worker works as security or a cashier. Other responsibilities could include; counting stock, working out the total of how much of one item was sold etc. (For a bonus pay) The manager will also - at times - be asked to work the job of a cashier, however, their 'tax' or cut will remain the same to keep it from being bias or unfair to other cashiers.
Worker(s) | 18+ – Maximum of: 5
The workers' job is simple, they choose a position they’d prefer to work in and if said position is available, they’ll take it. Positions include; security and cashier, however, most of the time they’d only need to be cashiers. Their job will of course require them by In-Character law to request ID from any customer purchasing restricted goods and must log every sale including tax and quantity.
Please note that these are only approximations, however, I plan to have no more than 6 workers on a roster at one time as this shop does not need more than 4-6 and definitely will only allow for 2 cashiers at one time. The maximum amount of workers is merely accounting for who will/won't be available for an opening.
Unisex uniform:
This uniform could be 'mandatory' for every opening, though I can understand some workers wouldn't want to constantly change their skin and I will most likely end up making occasional exceptions should this application be accepted.
