What are your thoughts on SRP Skins?

Question, why are alot of srp skins and general tailoring that's so common in the server so desaturated and...yellow? I cannot be the only one to notice this, not to mention the lack of visible eyes?

Awhile ago from my own experience, I had gotten a tailor commission for one of my most colorful characters!!
And even after I got it, it was desaturated and I ended up turning the saturation up/editing the colors to get them how I wanted it.
Even when I gave the tailor a proper reference sheet to color pick from it, it had been so dull... but even with that, I still payed and appreciated the work they put in!
But its still... how do you explain it, disheartening?

I want to see more visible color in characters in srp, not the same copy and paste yellow-toned character?
And yes, i know someone is probably gonna see this and say "Just make your own skins then if its that big of an issue" and yes I could do that, but what about those who have vibrant characters and are looking to pay someone to bring them to life as a skin?

I wanna hear your thoughts!!

the downfall of schoolrp tailoring must be studied.

the colours used to pop out and look genuinely great, but ~2 years ago, the style began to slowly become oversimplified to the point where people are using basically 2 squares and desaturated colours.... its honestly sad to see the old style be thrown into the trash.. :/

i truly admire people who are somewhat trying to bring back the old style, such as @TheEz8Fury and @fourmis2020 , AND ESPECIALLY TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE THEIR OWN SHADING STYLE!!! BE CREATIVE!

i am the #1 bright colorful shading advocate RAAHHH!!!!!

to comment further; even from the beginning stages of SRP's beautiful more legacy shade-intensive styles, i've always been an advocate for bringing my visions to life by my own hands. I have NEVER EVER let anyone touch any of my characters with a traditional style, and i think it's paid off into creating skins that i've managed to not only make very visually appealing and completely individualized, but to grow my skill, and have my own visions completely manifest how i want. I'd love more people to have the courage to stray off from the typical 'style' of the server - i know it was dismissed as a point, but it absolutely pays off to dedicate yourself to your vision creatively

anyway i do colorful skins hmu

Okay, as a tailor. Seeing the fact that somebody has said "the downfall of tailoring must be studied" that was not at all right to say, because. People work HARD on their skins, and that's pretty much bringing what they have made and pretty much saying it's not that good? Yes, they might have said they admired what they do afterwards, but it still wasn't ok.

People actually prefer the more bright colorful shading, but if they do not. They can bring the saturation down themselves.. it's not the difficult. I PERSONALLY love the bright and colorful shadings

agreed, it hurts my eyes to see them have none, it's so difficult trying to better the way I make my palettes when everything is so orange/yellow, everywhere I look it's the same thing. I mourn 2023 shading everyday, they were all such beautifully done and intricate :(, the colors, shading, and even shaping were at their upmost peak, theeennnn we all fell victim to a never-ending trend of simplicity that only worsens every day. I get it's minecraft, but everything I see now looks so, flat? I miss being able to tell characters apart

I do not like modern SRP shading. This is not a diss toward anyone on SRP who uses it, as everyone has what they likes, but I (PERSONALLY) really don't think they're good at all. Sometimes, it's hard to tell what a person is even SUPPOSED to be wearing when I'm looking at a skin. Or a character who wears white is wearing something extremely orange. It's hard to say any effort is put into shading these sometimes considering most of the shading is one big rectangle overlay layer. Just my opinion. I could go on, and on, and on about it if you really asked me to. Especially as someone who does art commissions, it's almost impossible to gauge any true character details because I can't tell that your character is meant to be deathly pale when they look disgustingly orange.

Bring back old shading, that's my input.
For the record, I am not saying this to personally attack anyone. Like I said, everyone has what they likes. Do whatever you want, we're all entitled to an opinion. :) As long as nobody is being personally attacked, this is merely just discussion.

I don't like where skins are going either, even as a tailor that does current shading, I lowk hate it! I do not like how it looks in any light, and most people who do explore into different styles either get people constantly ordering from them, or there are no orders at all. A lot of shading is also different now from eachother, I will admit that, often times they clash against eachother; but the colours barely change from skin to skin or pallete to pallete.

I will say, as more people join the tailoring pool, of course the shading style is going to change as times change, and saying the same thing somebody said before;
"we all fell victim to a never-ending trend of simplicity that only worsens every day."
Why is SRP becoming a beige server with characters?

I even have my own experiences where I once ordered a skin; bright colours in the refs to only be dulled down to a grayed out version. It is awful nowadays trying to find an open tailor that does brighter colours, I have been trying for months, they either never open or everybody orders instantly and their queue fills quickly.

i think i like the current style but honestly i've been thinking of getting an adult character in the older shading style because i think it makes them look more rough. the new soft shading i think is cute for younger characters but older characters def benefit off of the old shading style.

i have mixed opinions on it. while i do agree that yellow/orangey skin tones are more common with current shading, there are still plenty of tailors who use other tones for their skins. it's just a matter of finding the right person whose style resonates with you.

some people might say they prefer the 'simplicity' of it, while others might say they prefer more complex &/or detailed shading. same way some prefer dull/desaturated colors over colorful/vibrant colors. it quite literally just comes down to preference. i don't think anyone should be told to change their style simply because it might not be what some people (like yourself, for example) enjoy.

tl;dr: don't like it? keep looking for a tailor whose shading will satisfy you. there's many tailoring servers; you're bound to find someone who can bring your character to life in the way you envisioned. :]

I've transitioned from being a hater, to a lover; to realizing that it doesn't matter. People like what they like, and I find myself making more money if I go towards the newer shading. Depending on preferences, I'll make my skins more detailed for some clients than others! Versatility is the strongest thing you can have, and I love the colors certain creators like 3Donk, Wkiii, and Maeskerz do. Shaping has become SO important as well! I think it's rude to diss on what people like so harshly, and I don't think there has been a 'downfall'. Maybe I just have a WE'RE ALLL IN THIS TOOOGETHER feel to it, but seeing so many people come together to look similar for our little world is amazing. Not everyone has to do it, I don't have to do it, neither do you! But sometimes, it's nice to see everyone unique yet undeniably connected.
