TRIVIA QUESTIONS
What is the student council and what do they do?:
The student council are able to use their creative side and come up with events for the school! The other side of the student council is that they serve the school and protect students. They have many assigned tasks which include handing out detentions, taking masks if someone is seen wearing one and so much more. The student council is also there to help SLT and school faculty members by taking care of certain issues with students. The student council are supposed to be fun and just also answer questions along the way. They also need to watch out for fights and other ongoing issues. They take care of conflicts by talking to the students in the council room. They talk to the students if they are angry and try to calm them down and make sure they do not do anything else to harm somebody if they did.
What motivated you to apply for council? (e.g. Interests, friends, etc.):
My motivation for applying is actually very simple, a lot of my friends are in the council faction. Seeing what the school council does is what interests me to keep applying even though I get denied. If I get denied it does not stop my passion. I want to protect the students and help them as well. I would like to show of my personality and passion to creativity. Sincere Holland is very determined to keep the school safe and help all the school faculty with issues that may take place. Sincere grew up as an athletic child with an athletic family but all his friends joined the student council, and he has been wanting to be like his friends.
Are you aware that you’ll be having to use your creativity and teamwork ethic within the student council? (e.g. Coming up and helping with events):
Can you list the roles in the council along with other roles that might be important to the council?
Senior Leadership Team
The SLT has many values, and they are there to oversee the council members. SLT is the most important role when it comes to the school faction. Without the SLT the school faculty and council members may not work well together or know what they are doing in general.
School Faculty
The school faculty members are basically the mentors to the council members. They can teach them the bases of how the school runs, along with its rules and violations. The school faculty is the second most important role in the school faction.
Council Presidents
The council presidents are the council members chosen by SLT to lead either high school or college council. The council presidents teach the newer council members how everything works and trains them with the help of the trainers which will explained later. Council presidents also coordinate with the SLT on events they want to do for the school.
Vice President
The vice presidents are basically the right hand man to the council presidents. In case the president is not able to participate the vice president will take over and lead that activity for the president.
Training Committe
Council also has another role called the TRAINERS, trainers are the councilors that assist the council president by teaching newer councilors they're role and rules and basic explanation, any councilor can be a trainer as long as to they have experience and understanding.
College council and Highschool council
The college and high school council are the key to communication with the council presidents. The student council roams the school looking for any on going conflicts, such as fights or verbal arguments.
Students
The students have a key relationship with the council members because the council members are the first line of defense for protecting everyone.
IC SECTION
SCENARIOS
While students gather for a school assembly, one student behaves disruptively, causing a disturbance. How would you manage the situation to restore order effectively while minimizing any additional disruptions to the assembly?
I would scan the crowd to see where the student is sitting that is causing all this disturbance. Once I scan the crowd and lock eyes on the student, I would use my radio or phone to see if any other council member is near that student. If not, I would go into the crowded assembly like I am going to find a seat. Once I get to the student, I would quietly escort him away and talk to him about his behavior and the rules of the assembly away from the general area of the assembly. This is so we can have an effective conversation and not disturb anyone. I would then inform the student that because of his behavior, he is no longer welcomed to enter the assembly today. Once I get him escorted away and to another area, I would head back to the assembly and keep eyes on the crowd and pay close attention.
A student refuses to take their mask off after you’ve brought up detention and they’ve run away! What do you do?
I would tell the student nicely before he runs to take of the mask, or I will contact SLT. Once he runs away, I get on the radio and tell everyone I have a runner and he has a mask on. I give them my exact location and where he is running to. I would need to have council members cut him off and corner the fleeing suspect. Once we get him stopped, I will ask him to take the mask off and I have already radioed SLT and they are on the way. Once he gives me the mask, I hand it over to a faculty member and have them put it in the confiscated chest.
A teacher observes concerning behavior from a student, including the creation of disturbing artwork and verbal threats toward peers. How would you collaborate with the teacher to evaluate the situation and intervene appropriately to address potential safety concerns?
I would go over to the student with the teacher and kindly address the safety concerns involved with the threats and disturbing artwork. Once I explain why it is not allowed to draw disturbing artwork and make threats towards peers, I would ask the teacher if they would like the student to be escorted out of class and be handed a detention slip. If the teacher agrees with my decision, I will hand the student a detention slip and escort them out of the classroom. I would explain to them that they cannot go back inside the classroom for the rest of the day as they are a safety hazard to the students who are trying to learn.
A group of students asks for your permission to stage a protest on school grounds. Would you allow them to protest? If so, how do you ensure that the protest does not disrupt the school environment while upholding their freedom of expression?
I would explain to them if I was to say yes, that it would have to be peaceful and they cannot put people at risk and be safety hazards. I would ask my higherups first including SLT. If everyone disagrees with the protest, I would explain that they can not do and give them the specific reason given to me. If I get the go ahead to let them protest then, they would have to let me watch them and make sure they do not do anything unsafe and be disturbing to others. I would let them uphold their freedom of expression only if they are allowed to.
A teacher/receptionist has told you that you are doing something that goes against what you were trained by your higher-ups. How would you react to this?
I would ask the teacher what I did wrong first of. Knowing I did not do anything wrong, I would be respectful and continue to listen to what I did supposedly wrong. Once they are done, I would see if my vice president or president is in school at the moment to talk to the teacher. If they are not able to be reached, I would have the teacher contact an SLT member. As SLT is the next best option in the ongoing issue. I would wait until the SLT is done investigating the issue before asking about it. Once they are done and it is determined if I did something wrong or not, I do not expect an apology. If it turns out I did something wrong, I would be respectful and apologize to the teacher and my fellow council president.

How would you describe your personality?:
I am kind and relaxed with everyone I meet. When I have to do my council duty, I wont be so lenient and nice. I am going to be super professional and do everything the correct way.
Appearance/attire (Please provide a picture):
What separates you from other applicants seeking your position?:
What separates me from other applicants, is that I know what I am doing from experience my friends have told me. I am super flexible and will attend meetings and trainings whenever they happen. It is a big responsibility to be in the school as a council member and I will not take it for granted. I am going to listen to any advice my superiors have for me and use it to help build myself for the future.
Why do you want this position?:
I want this position because it helps me build myself for when I get older to become a teacher. I want to know how the system works and learn through it. I am beneficial for this position because I want to learn and I want to do right with the school. I would like to protect the students and keep the school a safe learning environment for everyone. With a safer learning environment, that means people will have more fun in school and will participate in events we as the council team hosts.
What interests you the most about student council?:
What interests me about the student the council is that we get to use our creative side and come up with fun events to share with the school! We get to have fun ourselves by seeing everyone happy with our fun activities. Once I see that everyone is enjoying my ideas and events, then I will know I did a great job and people will look forward to my events and my fellow council members ideas in the future!
What could you contribute to make the school a safe and fun environment?:
I will constantly be on the lookout for fights and verbal conflicts. Keeping the school a fight free zone, this will go a long while. It is good to keep everyone out of trouble so they do not grow up to be criminals and get into actual trouble with the law. If that does not happen then we know we are doing everything correct. If people do get in trouble with the law maybe we can figure out how to prevent that and talk to the students about this.
