School News Reports

REPORT 1 - MARIAN SHINOHARA The Karakura housing crisis. It’s been a problem for years, and it continues being a problem. The group affected most by this? Karakura’s large, and ever-growing student population. Of course, the school provides housing for anyone in a sports team, but what about the students outside of these “prestigious” teams? What about the students that don’t have the ability to participate in these highly physically demanding sports? My name is Marian Shinohara, and I’ve spoken to multiple resilient students - formerly homeless ones, and ones who are still struggling with housing and accommodation. I asked them about their experiences, past or current and about their struggles - especially when it comes to school...
Bobcat Spirit Today at Karakura High, the Bobcat Cheer Team, led by Cheer-Captain Lexy Sparks, gave a wonderful performance in front of the memorial rock, a sight to behold for many students who had yet to watch one of their official routines. Though it was berated by opposing Spartan Cheerleaders, the Bobcats put on a performance worthy of recognition. The crowds erupted in cheer as they sang along to That's My Girl by Fifth Harmony, performing leaps and twirls that teachers and students alike couldn't get enough of. There was a sort of allure to their performance that prevented people from looking away; was it the showy cheer outfit? The flashy pom-poms? The roaring enthusiasm? Whatever the case, the crowd grew larger and larger as...
On 6/27/2023, the intercoms all throughout the school made a quick beeping sound followed by a mysterious voice saying the words: “Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a better coffee machine? Preferably one that doesn’t system update consistently-” throughout the hallways and classrooms, laughter erupted. Many people recorded the situation once they heard the beep. I was sent one of these recordings, and in the background, behind all the laughs, you could hear the voice saying to someone who’s voice we could not hear: “Wha-? I’m speaking to no-one?... Well, there’s probably someone on campus with a better coffee machine! It’s worth a tr- No, I don’t have a complex, I’m just asking for a coffee- '' That's when the P.A. beeped and...
- 20/06/2023 - You should know something has gone too far when I have to step in. In recent times, there have been a lot of accusations and false news reported to you by some of our College Journalists. Much of the information has come from anonymous sources, people too afraid to show themselves purely because they’ve manufactured lies to try and slander the Bobcat name. Well I think it’s time for the Bobcats to push back, you lot aren’t the only ones with a pen and paper. For those curious, my name is Tiffany Takagi, Granddaughter of Vice-Dean Hashirama Takagi. Most people will know me as a Bobcat Cheerleader. To the surprise of many, I am also a Journalist. Which means that all of these little Journalists who think it’s okay to...
As a former councillor and council president, I look at our current council’s and faculty's struggles... and I do not understand them at all; I was ruthless, but regardless, that is not to say that the authorities of the school have not been put between a rock and a hard place as of recent. Karakura High has always been infamous for its, Types of students, ranging from sassy, adored team members, to hated, heinous delinquents who do nothing but terrorise our students and faculty for the fun of it; This report serves to go over the struggles our councillors and faculty face each day, perhaps to make some of you who think they are above the rules for whatever reason feel bad because I don't care about your feelings! Morning...
The hot seat. An informal noun used to refer to the position of a person who carries full responsibility for something, including facing criticism or being answerable for decisions or actions. Also commonly used to refer to the electric chair in North America. However, we are in Japan, so you have nothing to worry about there! In today’s report, we’ve put five KHSCC students in the metaphorical hot seat. We asked them each the same questions and got different answers back. It’s time for… the hot seat. We put five people on the spot to answer our questions. We have Tsugi Jahii (whose hair looks like neapolitan ice cream), a twelfth grader, an avid class-goer, and a french-speaker. Soda Kanno, a caretaker, the son of Mr. Kanno, a man who...
HS Football and Cheer Teams, A Trend of Violence Kingston D. Karicorn Liars. Violent. Wicked. All words one could use to describe the ruthless Bobcat football and cheerleader team. They’ve always been known to have a superiority complex, but recently things have become more unhinged. From shoving people into lockers, to even harassing faculty, they have begun a reign of terror over the school with virtually no push back from higher ups. However, with these acts of brutality they’ve accumulated a long list of victims. Victims who all wish to see justice be brought to these monsters. Below, I have interviewed three people who have been victims of the ruthless bullying from the HS football and cheer team. Many have...
Good day students of Karakura high and College, As we all know summer has just begun for all of us so today i went out of my time to speak to a few members of faculty on how YOU can stay safe in school during summer First things first I interviewed a Tutor by the name of Mr Munakata, I did this because he is constantly in his tutor room and I thought surely he would know a thing or two about heat. Bellow is a MP3 of the audio recording. Feel free to listen to learn a thing or two about his tips. The audio recording started Serene: “So i am doing a school school news report on how to keep safe during the summer in school time. I know the heat can be very draining on students and also very dangerous too, Do you have any suggestions...
At Karakura High School and Community College there is one day that is favoured above all the rest: Tuesday. Why you may ask? Well, as third period ends, and students jump from their seats, racing towards the cafeteria, I assure you there is only one thing on their mind. Tacos. Taco Tuesdays are renowned far and wide, but ours is special, sacred even. Recently, the tacos in our cafeteria have become even better than they once were, and there is always one chef present on the scene: Daichi Matsumoto-Solas. So in order to find out the secret Krabby Patty Taco Tuesday formula, I met with the one and only Daichi Matsumoto-Solas, who provided this tutorial, so that every day can be a Taco Tuesday. Students at KHSCC (Karakura High School & Community College) have reported that they constantly feel the need to conform with the culture of this school. They say that they feel isolated because they’re different from the rest. They don’t fit into one of Karakura’s main cliques. This causes people to make fun of them, assault them, and spread untruthful rumours about them. The KHSCC students have cliques, much like any other school. However, our school’s cliques are… slightly different from other schools around the world. The criminals. Ah, yes, it’s no secret. The crime rate in Karakura is horrible, and due to the abundance of children in the city, there’s bound to be loads of child convicts. These students usually hang around the...
Have you ever wondered what it's like to be in sports at Karakura? How do our amazing athletes manage their time between school work and sports? Here we listen to the perspectives of different athletes from a variety of sports teams at Karakura! Sumi Ishida - Track Captain - 18 Years Old A transcript of the interview would be presented below Chiyo K. Komatsu - "Okay! State your name, age, and sports team!" Sumi Ishida - "Hello, My name is Sumi Ishida, I am 18 years old, and I'm the Karakura High School Track Captain." Chiyo K Komatsu - "So Sumi, what has your experience been like as an Athlete at Karakura High School?" Sumi Ishida - "It's been good! The other athletes are really nice and supportive. We get to try a lot of...
One of the first things you’ll notice after walking into Karakura High School & Community College is the sign by the gate reading: “Do not converse with people outside the gates.” This rule is enforced by teachers, employees, professors, and SLT of KHSCC (Karakura High School & Community College). It’s a rule taken almost as seriously as any other. So why do people feel the need to talk and interact with animals outside the gates, unemployed adults outside the gates, and many other people out there in the world? They know that these actions will result in trouble for the future, so why risk it? I’ve chosen to break down as best as I can the reasons for this phenomenon. First of all, people need support throughout the day. Animals...
Good morning, afternoon, evening, or night to all! Today, I bring a report suggesting ways to better concentrate during a school setting. All students at Karakura have many opportunities to become successful, and sometimes these opportunities can be brushed past, and not talked about enough. No matter how many times students are told, there will always be slackers who won’t be found dead in a classroom, so, how can you not be like the slackers? You can find out! There are many beautiful study spots on the school campus, which already has a report on! Some of these places include media and club rooms, the school library, outdoors, and more! I suggest taking these study spots seriously, as it can be very useful in order to be...
[!] Clicking on a strange link would send you to an unfamiliar delisted YouTube video, named… There were no visuals. Just a black screen and audio. The video would start off with a big, dramatic sigh before… Den: ..Hi there. If you’ve found this video, it means that I’ve decided to actually post this online. I’m here to talk about a terrible mistake I’ve made as of recent. One which has impacted not only my life but the life of people I care about. Let me set the scene. As an act to protect the individuals involved, I will be addressing them with codenames. The main names in my story are: Annie Barry And Clarissa Whilst this tale and these people are 100% factual to my POV, I would like to reiterate that these are fictitious...
Photography Credit: Presas Castillo - 05/05/2023 - “I’m bored.” An overused phrase that baffles every parent of a child growing up around technology. “Boredom? How can you be bored? Back in my day when we were bored we made mud pies and snuck around the woods trying to collect bugs.” Well, things are different nowadays. Technology has progressed, we’re evolving. We’ve adapted to rely on all of the incredible things humans have invented. It can be argued that we rely on it a little too much. I think that there are many beautiful alternatives to curing boredom that many of us don’t consider. If our elders want us to put down the tablets, then let's give it to them. Here are some of the things you can get up when you’re bored...
Photo By: Sumi Ishida Since Spring has rolled around the corner, and we’re beginning to see the Cherry blossom trees bloom, we can all appreciate the beauty of nature around us. In order to preserve these wonders, I’d like to highlight a topic you all likely have heard of in science class: ~ The Environment ~ Taking care of our environment is of vital importance, as the plants around us provide us with clean air to breathe, filtering toxins, our ‘carbon footprint’ influences extreme weather events, and waste and use of resources affects the ecosystems we live in. For today, we will be breaking the topic down into 5 sectors: Renewable Energy, Transportation, Forestry and Wildlife, Littering, and Plant Care. Renewable Energy...
PHD Projects | Sayori Bell The complicated nature of a student's life is what makes it all worthwhile. A student currently enrolled in college has three degrees to complete. a PHD, a Masters, and a Bachelor. By passing the exams, one can earn a bachelor's or master's degree! Even though a PHD is very different, in order to get there, you would need to develop a project based on the subject matter your degree would entail so that they could determine whether you are deserving of receiving it. We'll be speaking with Himawari Heddo today to learn more about the project she created! Himawari : Im Himawari Heddo, 23. I’ve lived here for quite a while, though tend to go in and out of the city rather often. Sayori : Alright.. Great...
In Karakura High and its connecting College, there is a bit of a subculture shared among the student body and even some of the faculty members. The cars of Karakura are mostly owned by students from the age of 18-20, and there is no real explanation for this. So, rather than give you my opinion on the matter and call it a day, I decided to dig a little deeper into the ‘lore’ so to speak. Whether it’s racing brackets, exotic sports cars from the West, or wacky cars made to replicate that of film. Karakura High has plenty of vehicles to choose from for those who enjoy all types of cliches. From poor students driving super cars to wealthy students driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla, Karakura leaves not a single soul unphased. So what kind of...
