I am entirely aware of this consequence.

TRIVIA QUESTIONS

What is student council and what do they do?:

The school council is a large group of voluntary students who dedicate their school years to serving alongside the faculty through support, events, meetings, and consequence. Their job throughout the school day is to monitor the grounds, and ensure the safety of all students. If fights break out, it is their job to stop these immediately and solve conflict in the best way possible. The school council is also responsible for certain events for all students to engage in, coming up with new ways to bring the school together. The council also comes together in meetings to discuss future plans, new ideas, members and so on. The council are trusted enough to supervise detentions and also hand them out where deemed necessary. The school council are role models for their peers, and must uphold the position which shall motivate others to follow in their footsteps.

What motivated you to apply for council? (e.g. Interests, friends, etc.):
I used to be a member of the school council back in 2020, this was the first role I had ever applied for on SchoolRP and luckily I was accepted. I was motivated to apply back then when I first saw a councillor walking around school and I thought: “I want to be like that.” I stayed a member of the council for quite a long time before eventually resigning. I recently was reached out to by a member of the council wondering if I was interested in re-joining. I took some time to consider this as I have been meaning to rejoin however I never found the right time. However now seems like the best time for me to make my return and join the council once again, thus here I am writing this application!

Are you aware that you’ll be having to use your creativity and teamwork ethic within the student council? (e.g. Coming up and helping with events):
I am indeed aware of this and believe I’d be a great help with this. As I am a part of the event team, coming up with new ideas and being creative is my entire job. I’ve also in the past been asked questions and opinions on council events before they are released so I’d be confident in saying I am already somebody who is trusted enough to help with events and come up with my own.

Can you list the roles in the council along with other roles that might be important to the council?:

[President]

The leader of the council, they are in charge of meetings, selecting new councillors, events and so on.

[Vice-President]
The right hand man of the president, their role is pretty much the same responsibilities yet they run it through the President first. They also step in if the President is not available for something.

[School Council Trainer]
It's sort've in the name, but training the student council.

[Councillor]
I’d hope I’d know this one, the councillor role entails monitoring, patrolling grounds, attending meetings, assisting with events and so on.

[SLT]
This includes the Principal, Vice-Principal, Dean and Vice-Dean roles. The council works closely with the SLT team as we are to be considered their little helpers. We assist with whatever they need, event or casual school day wise. They also help us with anything we may need, such as radios or major situations of which we need superior.

[Faculty]
This includes teachers, professors, nurses, librarians, caretakers, chefs and receptionists. We work alongside these roles throughout the school day and at events when needed. If we need backup or have an event which requires their role we work together.

[Students]
We work with the school community to create a safe environment for everyone to learn and socialise.

There may be specific roles which I am not aware of in the council as my last rodeo with the team was years ago however I am sure I can pick up quickly whatever I need to know.

SCENARIOS

You’re patrolling the school and you walk by two girls verbally harassing each other, but they didn't pay mind to you. What do you think is the correct way to go about this?

I would approach the situation, as it is not physically violent I would see no reason to radio for any backup. I’d ask them both to lower their voices and ask what the issue is about. If this is a continued issue, I’d take both girls to the council room to solve their differences privately. If this is a petty argument with no real history behind it, I’d ask both girls politely to walk away from one another in different directions. If they refused I’d continue to ask this of them, whilst also warning them of the consequence if they do not: detention.

A student refuses to take their mask off after you’ve brought up detention and they’ve run away! What do you do?
Through the use of the radio, I’d describe what I know of them. Whoever spots them could then inform them of their detention. If I got their name I’d inform a member of the faculty to announce their detention at home time.

There seems to be a councillor abusing their powers! They’re being exceptionally mean to a student, causing the student to be defensive or scared. How would you step in?
I’d calmly approach the situation, and ask the councillor to take a step away. I’d then speak to the student and ask for their side of the story. I’d get them whatever they require, detention, support etc. I’d then speak to the councillor, ask for their side of this story too. I’d remind them of our rules, and I would also give their superior (college or highschool president) a heads up on the situation.

You seemed to miss a few pieces of information during a meeting, how would you go about getting that information?
I’d simply ask for the information I misheard or missed. I wouldn’t consider myself shy so I wouldn’t have much issue with this. No shame in asking for help!

A teacher/receptionist has told you or done something that goes against what you were trained by your higher-ups. How would you react to this?
I’d firstly go to my superior on the situation, asking for their advice on how to go about this scenario. If they give me the heads up I’d go to the faculty’s superior and make them aware of how their staff has been behaving. I believe we all need to set an example, breaking rules is not a part of that.

Please provide a detailed event that a club or council can use as a future event to showcase your creativity! (Must be 300 words or more):

THE AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

This is something that my old primary school used to do for children whose parents would pick them up later due to work or other reasons. I’d like to implement this idea into the school for the council to do whenever they are available. I believe you’d need roughly three councillors available to do this depending on how popular it gets.

At home time, whilst detention goes on there will also be an after school club that opens, this club is for those who do not wish to go home, or have nobody to be with after school etc. It is supposed to be a safe space for students to relax after a busy school day. In this after school club, we will have different activities students can do until we close for the day.

These activities could be as follows:
  • Painting: we can set up a row of canvas’ and let students express themselves. This also means they don’t have to wait for art class to open to do some artwork.
  • DDR machine: time to shake off all the stress of the day and do some dancing, and try to beat the high-score.
  • Arcade machines: same idea as the DDR machine, just a different name.
  • Book corner: maybe they need somewhere quiet to study or read to wind down, how about a book corner!
  • Tuck shop: I was always hungry after school, why not serve a small selection of snacks and drinks too?
  • Chess/board games: This was something implemented not long ago, I think this would be a great addition if it gets working in-game again.
  • Word searches/worksheets: we could also have our own supply of fun worksheet activities which enforce learning, like word searches or crossword puzzles, cryptograms or even bingo.
  • Kahoot quizzes: a simple game if we have lots of people attending.

This club would be open and available until it reaches evening time in-game, I think it would also be a good way for students to connect with the council more. We’d be showing them that they are not alone and we do care about their wellbeing! This club could be held in the council room, giving it a new purpose and allowing more people to use it and not just councillors for when they have to handle misbehaviour.

IN-CHARACTER PERSPECTIVE QUESTIONS

Character Name:
Winnie Saiky

Character Gender: Male

Character Age: 17

Character phone-number: 030-338-2135

Brief summary of how they act/your character’s personality:
Winnie, a seventeen year old boy with a heart of gold. The boy was five-foot-eight and slender. He clearly did not lift weights, he did however like to go for a jog every once in a while. Clear the mind! He was also a bit of a bookworm, often found roaming the library. It was safe to say he is definitely an old book smell person, and not a new car smell person. There wasn’t a mean bone in his body, being kind came naturally to him. He buys gifts for those close to him, even if it isn’t their birthday. He’s a great listener, and comforter. His name very much suits him, as he is simply a fluffy teddy bear. Winnie himself finds comfort in small spaces, finding new places to hide whenever he’s overwhelmed, scared, or sorrowful. Maybe even if his social battery has just run low, he likes his alone time. He also enjoys his friends, he likes getting up to all sorts with the ones he surrounds himself with, if they give him a chance at being their friend.

BIOGRAPHY

Character appearance/attire (Please provide a picture):
He loves sweaters, hoodies and warm colours. He has soft features, and a face full of freckles. His smile was welcoming, he was overall a happy person. He is the human version of a golden retriever.

What separates you from other applicants seeking your position?:
I have the natural ability to show kindness to others, even when they don’t deserve it. I allow people to have the benefit of the doubt, and they are innocent till proven guilty! It’s safe to say I won’t eventually go mad and completely lose it at a student who is misbehaving. I understand that everybody has their own background, with their own issues, and sometimes getting in trouble is just a cry for help. I’m willing to give people that help, in any way I can. I don’t believe in just giving others detention and then sending them on their way, I want to help them improve. I want to understand what’s going on, and be civil. That makes me different, I don’t just want to enforce rules, I want to enforce stability, and safety. I can be their safety net.

Why do you want this position?:
If you’d like the honest answer, for my own benefit. Now before you freak out like ‘Oh no! He wants to use his power for bad… he’ll abuse his power!” No no, that is not what I mean. I mean I want to have some responsibility because when I grow up, I want to be a Judge. I want to be the one in power and I want to be able to make the right decisions, come to the correct verdict. In all honesty, I have been sheltered my whole life, I have both of my parents, and I am an only child, I am their pride and joy! So… I grew up with zero responsibilities of my own. Thus, I want to make a start. If I am going to work my way into a job where my decision is of high importance, I want to start making those decisions now. I want to be responsible for somebody other than myself. The school council seems like the best place for me to start.

What interests you the most about student council?:
What interests me the most? Well… I’d say the community. Being a part of the council to me is like.. Being a part of the cool kid club. That doesn’t mean I am trying to be popular or cool, because I would not say I am either one of those things, but I do want to be a part of something. I’m not cut out for sports or teams but, I can do this. So, I want to join and be a part of everything you all do, and maybe add some new things of my own if given the chance. I like social events, I love big gatherings and opportunities to meet new people, I think with council that will be a part of the job, speaking to new people and offering my service to school wide events. I’d love to be a part of that.

What could you contribute to make the school a safe and fun environment?:
I can offer myself as a warm fuzzy blanket for people! Not in a weird sense, I won’t go around hugging strangers… unless they need a hug of course. I mean I can be a safe space in a crowded area. I want people to recognise me and think: “Oh hey! There’s Winnie, he can help me.” So I can contribute my social skills and awareness for emotions. My momma always made sure that I knew I never had to hide my feelings, and it was okay to cry. I know some people struggle with these emotions, and often turn to anger instead. Which ultimately is one of the reasons we have so many fights in school, and so I want to help improve this. I can not only break up fights, I can contribute to how people move forward in the future. Offer help, advice, whatever they need. I can be their warm fuzzy blanket of security!
