Which timezone are you in?
The current timezone is GMT, but we will be going into BST soon, which is March 29th!
List your current and past IC/OOC faction applications:
Most of these are not recent applications
Describe your activity on the server:
My activity on the server is consistent, I am usually online every day, 5pm-12am, depending on the plans I have on the next day's plans! Some days, I may be on earlier and be on later, vise versa. I like to believe I’m quite an active member to the community, partaking in a lot of things. Though in the near future, I may have a Job, which may change the time a tiny bit, but I will still be active, and will log the inactivity or inform the faction lead if required at the time.
What is your motivation for applying?:
My motivation has always been strong when it comes to applying for KPD, even when I got denied last wave, I still drove to apply, I was in KPD back in 2024 for a few months, left due to unexpected IRL issues, luckily those issues are fully cleared up! I’ve always had a passion for the policing part of school, I always feel enthralled towards how the faction works in both IC and OOC aspects as well as being a part of it, experiencing things that other members within the community may experience first hand. I’ve kept that motivation stationary until I was ready to return to a welcoming faction.

What knowledge do you have of Police Work?
My knowledge on Police work is quite vast, I still remember a lot of the training and scenarios from when I was in KPD back in 2024, however, there is a chance I do need a reminder which will refresh my memory, of course there is different aspects to the work KPD do such as, equipment, codes, EM levels and ranking system.
Codes;
Radio codes are an important part of the officers daily life, it helps them communicate without wasting any time, so they can act as soon as possible.

10-20 = Location
10-12 = Pause
10-4 = Understood
10-19 = Returning to Station
10-8 = Responding / On-duty
10-7 = Off-Duty
10-33 = Suspect has a weapon
Code 0 = Officer/EMS in immediate danger

Ranking System;
The ranking system is a crucial part to the KPD, it tells you which rankings are in the two different departments that the KPD have.

Commissioner

Main Division
Detective Division
Captain
Detective Superintendent
Lieutenant
Detective Chief Inspector
Sergeant
Detective Inspector
Corporal
Detective Sergeant
Patrol Officer
Detective Constable
Cadet
N/A

Equipment;
The equipment also plays a very vast importance to the role as an officer too, without the equipment the officers wouldn’t be able to function as their job. I personally remember around 12 items in total for equipment that I can remember off the top of my head, but more may have been added since.
Radio
The Radio is one of the most important equipment an officer/detective can need, they require this to communicate with their own peers but also with Townhall and EMS. There is also a button on the radio which allows them to alert others they are in danger.
Bodycam
The Bodycam is also one of the most important pieces of equipment, it helps capture scenarios but also helps locate an officer if they are currently in danger. The bodycam is also useful for evidence gathering in case a non-guilty plea trial takes place or KPD decides to sue someone for an injury that happened on the job.
Baton
A Baton, yet another critical equipment piece for KPD, this is used in situations where a Stun Blaster cannot be used in, such as dealing with inmates in Cells, Dealing with situations in the water, etcetera. This item is muggable, one of the few items in the equipment book.
Handcuffs
Handcuffs are for the officers/detectives when they make an arrest, these help keep the arrested/detained individuals contained and prevent them from attempting to run away or attacking the Officers/Detectives in question.
Stun Blaster
The Stun Blaster is another very crucial item that officers/detectives need. This is their item of defense, if someone ran at them with a weapon? Stun them, If they were attending dangerous calls, they would use their Stun Blaster; This temporarily paralyses the suspect, giving time for the officers/detectives to make an arrest and disarm any dangerous weapons on them. These cannot be used in water!
Pepper spray
Pepper spray is one of the self-defense weapons, these aren't used as often as a Stun Blaster, but they are used when they need to blind the person in front of them for a few minutes in order to escape, usually often used on bears. It really depends on the situation, but it hurts the eyes a lot.
Tranqulizer
A Tranquilizer is one of the most used items aside from the Stun Blaster, this item is only for SGT+ due to the required training needed behind it. Once the dart has been released from the trigger, it temporarily puts the suspect/animal to sleep for an x-amount of time, this gives the officers/detectives time to disarm any dangerous weapons, and arrest them, taking them to the cells.
Crowbar
Without a Crowbar, the KPD wouldn’t be able to commit to any warrants or rescue missions, the crowbar helps open any areas they don’t have keys to, as long as they have a warrant or a plausible reason to be breaking into a place. This item is muggable.
Gas Mask
The Gasmasks help protect the identity of the officers/detectives but also helps protect them against any fire fumes or situations when they are in the sewers, they also use these with their riot gear to fully protect themselves from potential threats and people identifying them. This Item is muggable.
Riot Shield
A Riot shield helps protect the officers/detectives against people attacking, but also protecting people behind them, it’s a form of barrier keeping them safe and the people in front away, these are often used in raids with a warrant or when it comes to crowd control in situations of a protest, public speech, or a natural disaster. This item is muggable.
ID Badge
ID badges are a small wallet each member of the force carries, it shows their badge, their number, name and rank; so for example it would show [Name] K124, Cadet.
Cruiser/Motorbike
Cruisers and Motorbikes are dedicated for CPL+ This is the KPDs form of transport to respond to calls or transporting an inmate to court, etc.

Why is the Police important to SchoolRP?
Police are considered one of the most important factions beside Government and EMS, they help maintain a balance within Karakura, monitoring crime rates, assisting in certain scenarios such as fires, buildings collapsing, weather storms, etcetera. They are also considered role models both in game but also out of character to the community.
Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are needed to attend or you will be punished?
I do completely acknowledge that if I’m online and training is being held, I will be required to attend.

What's your character's full name?:
Yaban Yagi
How old is your character (if accepted)?:
38
What are your character's gender and pronouns?:
Female, She/Her/They
Please select your highest academic role at the time of writing this application:
(Grade-12/Bachelors/Masters/PhD):

Masters in criminology and Food Science
Bachelors in Law & Justice and Criminal Psychology

What languages does your character know besides Japanese?:
Japanese is Yaban's fluent language, but she also knows Korean, Italian and JSL. JSL is her most important language to know so she can communicate with those who are unable to verbally speak.
Describe your character; how they look, what makes them unique?
Yaban Yagi, she has a rather unique physical appearance due to the life she has lived since she was 20 years old, what once used to be a petite young female has turned into a scared and tattoo’d individual. Her blonde locks are often up in a ponytail or down loose, depending on what she is doing as well as several scars scattered across her body from her face to her legs. Some were obvious while others were hidden with tattoos to make her appearance less frightening. She surprisingly has a soft gentle touch to her, not heavy eyes or dark aura circling her, but a relaxed and outgoing individual. You’d often see her in jeans and shirts, rather than skirts and dresses, mostly because it’s more comfortable to assist people that way. While she may have a few issues with her. Though, she did often give that cold glare when people upset her, and it was obvious she was upset, but she was always welcoming; most of the time.

How does your character act in a professional/casual situation?

In professional situations, Yaban always acts professional, keeping her tone calm and content unless it’s the type of situation that requires yelling and leadership, she will always remain in her lane unless she believes otherwise, keeping her calm demeanor in check and if required to walk away for any reason, she will do so. Of course, she isn’t completely strict on herself and will have a small amount of fun around her co-workers, but that’s when they are in the station doing nothing, mostly just casual talk.

Within casual situations, she becomes more relaxed but still on guard no matter what, being more free of herself and allowing her inner-self to show a bit more, cracking jokes or just overall being a more relaxed version of herself, but she still will keep that professional energy up since that’s wired into her brain, it doesn’t stop her from having fun though! However, she doesn't fully show herself around people she hardly knows, she cautious and that's reasonable, but once they know her, she's energetic and outgoing.
What is their outlook on the idea of co-workers & teamwork?
Yaban's outlook on co-workers and teamwork is high, she actually prefers working as a team than solo, why? It gets the job done quicker and the bonds between co-workers become stronger, which in the end means trust is lasting and loyalty sticks. Sometimes there are some situations where she will want to work alone, but that’s in the rare case of it being a 1v1 situation. When she was previously in KPD, she saw everyone as a family, even if they didn’t get along, it was always important to remain a positive relationship with everyone, and remain protective regardless, it doesn’t always have to venture outside of work but it is good to keep that connection.
What's your character's backstory?
Please keep in mind this story is heavily summarized due to the length of the original. If you want the original you can always contact me!

Yaban was originally born on the island where Karakura city originates from, however she was born into a family that eventually she grew a disliking to and parted away from, but nonetheless she still is thankful for those memories she had. Yaban grew up to be a rather quiet and petite adult, until her first marriage where things took the ultimate turn in the wrong direction, altering her path into the future. That one event changed everything for Yaban and her children, living in Tokyo, Japan was one of the worst things she could have ever done, but then again. She wouldn’t be the woman she is to this day.

After her first marriage failed and her career of being a chef came to an end, she had to find some way to recover and provide for her family, eventually leading her to take her children and move across the world to Italy, a loving country with all sorts of different cultures. Of course, her children weren't too keen on the idea of suddenly moving, this caused a large ridge between her and her eldest daughter; Yaban didn’t let that stop her though, she hired a nanny and got on with her career until her children turned of age and started begging to head back to Japan. Yaban obviously couldn’t decline and left her Job in Italy and moved back to Karakura, Japan, allowing her kids to re-start their adventure once more.

Once the adventure started again in Karakura, Yaban decided to join the military, something she's always eyed up since her big accident, why? She wanted to be able to help and learn forms of self-defense, that's when her friends mentioned she should join the Karakura Police Department, she joined after having training on mainlands with her trainer which eventually turned onto one of her best friends, as the months went on, Yaban was promoted to SGT due to her intelligence and leadership, at least that’s what she thought. She also had another kid in the meantime, which is now her youngest. - Eventually, life had different paths for her which resulted in her leaving the force and moving back to the mainland to continue her Military career, mostly just paperwork because she was still recovering from yet another Truamatic event in her life, something she quickly dismissed after she arrested the person.

Yaban has always kept a passion for helping people, from day to day, even if it meant risking her own life to do so. It always made her happy to wake up in the morning, put her uniform or normal clothes on and go on with her day, even if it was interrupted by someone needing assistance, she didn’t care, she was happy to help. She truly disliked how the town had turned into a beautiful paradise to a criminal island.

In the end, Yaban did meet her forever, and remains that way, she moved from mainland's to the Yagi groves, where a friend took her in after she had departed from her biological family, something she finally gained the confidence to do so, even if she loves her siblings, she didn’t enjoy the environment as much as she would, now she's free, content, and still willing to continue her career helping people wherever she can go. Now that she's back in mainland's, she wants to continue down back her career path of being an officer once more, fulfilling all those needs that the civilians need but also continue the promise she left to her sister before her passing.

Can you legally own a pocket knife in Karakura?
“Unless you are an officer in a critical situation where the EM level is so high and require it for defense, no. It is not legal to carry a pocket knife in Karakura, it’s considered a deadly weapon and can cause a lethal blow to someone. This is an arrestable charge, possession of illegal weaponry and depending on how many you are found with; you will be charged accordingly and it remains a felony on your record, forever.”
Name 5 medical items that do NOT require a prescription
“There are a few items that don’t require a prescription, those items are; Aspirin, Paracetamol, Eye bandage, Wooden Stick and Lastly, Iron supplements."
If you see your co-workers physically abusing an inmate, what should you do?
“Well, common sense is to stop the co-worker from doing that. It's against the book and against morals, we do not scoop as low as the inmates that landed themselves into the cells. First I would radio for the CO on duty, hopefully a higher up for that matter, before entering the cell with my Baton on my side, attempting to break away the officer from the inmate before telling them to step outside, considering this is all caught on bodycam, which means the situation will be investigated. While that is being handled, I’d radio EMS and take the Inmate to the medical bay to assess for injuries.”
What should you do if you see your co-worker being assaulted?
“There is a set line that is required to follow, If my co-worker is seen alone being assaulted and there is more than one person, I cannot run to their aid otherwise it’s reckless and could place myself in danger, I would press code 0 on my radio for them, gaining backup as soon as possible before running to their aid. However, if it is just one person, I’ll press code 0 and then run to their aid since I won't be outnumbered. It always truly depends on the situation that is happening at the time.”
What do you do if you find out that your co-worker is corrupt and is helping criminal organizations?
“Rigghtt.. Well they are a bit foolish to be in the force to be doing that, anyways! My bodycam is on all the time, unless I’m off duty; The bodycam will capture most of the situation, the main goal is to make sure my co-worker doesn’t actually catch on that I know of their corruption and Treacherous behaviour. Once most of the evidence is gathered as you do need quite a bit before reporting it, otherwise it’s going to be considered ‘assumption’; reporting it to the higher ups on duty or even the commissioner themselves is better, a more direct attack into the situation. Involving myself could only make it worse and cause the corrupt officer to spin it onto me. Once it's reported, it’s down to the HU’s to deal with the situation.”
How would you react to a criminal trying to bribe you?
“Okay, why are they trying to bribe me in the first place? Do they realize that won't work, at all? Like it will only make their situation 100% worse and lead to more upset than current. Regardless, they would get a verbal warning/reminder that bribing an officer of the force is considered an finable offense. If they continue to attempt to bribe me, they would get fined and told to leave, which if they still continue, they could get arrested for obstruction of Justice, depending again on the situation at the time.”
