HighlightedTwin#8826

Do you acknowledge that if you are inactive you will be demoted?:
Yes.

Describe your activity on the server & on the forums?:
Back then before my very long break, I was pretty active on the server juggling both accounts being a student, and being a teacher/professor. I was always pretty active on my main account since I loved teaching. I stalked the feedback section of the forums because I was very interested in the ideas people had. I decided to take a break afterward to focus on myself and school; however, I just got back from my long break from the server, so expect increased activity with the addition of the role given to me.

How long have you played SchoolRP for?:
It feels like decades at this point but for a long time nearly 2 and a half years. I took long breaks from the server but am back now.

Trivia

What is your motivation for becoming a Professor?:
I’ve already been a professor before and it was quite interesting and different compared to being a Teacher. During my break I heard quite a lot has changed on SRP and it seemed like a newborn child has arrived (metaphorically speaking) with extra flavor. So after hopping on for a day I decided to come back (AGAIN) to the education faction because I just feel at home teaching. I’ve also heard a lot of new features and helpful perks were added in order to assist the education faction which I’d look forward to learning about!

What are the classroom logs and why is it important?:
Classroom logs are simply a professor logging information about the class they taught. This helps to keep track of all professors’ activities and to make sure they are actually putting in the effort to receive the reward for their hard work. This is the best strategy of checking for activities and to check if they are actually teaching something in the classroom as it is valid proof of your efforts for the month.

As a Professor, what are the strict rules when being in a class?:
As said in the previous application, I would have a couple of rules in the classroom assuming that my students are mature and understand their position:

1. I talk on my time, you talk on your time. - This means when I'm teaching, it should be silent yet a focused environment in the classroom. Whereas when I'm not teaching, you may discuss among your peers.

2. Excuse yourself to speak. - Pretty simple. We aren't really children anymore, you may simply say excuse me. We don't raise our hands to interrupt a conversation in public.

3. Do not hesitate to talk to me about a situation that happens. - If a student needs a trusting adult to talk to about any situation, I would like my students to know that I am there and that they should not have to think twice about discussing, especially if it's about another student breaking the rules.

4. Phones exist to an extent. - Phones are allowed when I allow it for a certain project to look up information. Otherwise, it should be off and away.

5. Be prepared for class. - Class will include pencil/pen, paper, and a soul of the student.

Summarize your previous RP experience's (both in general and on SchoolRP):
SRP was the first-ever server I roleplayed on in many aspects of roleplay that was offered before I eventually sprouted out to other servers so I pretty much have good knowledge on everything I need to know. On SRP I mainly only dealt with Teaching and being a student, trying out different subjects and forming clubs, and being on a sports team. I even tried a bit of GangRP on the side but never fully got into it.

College-Professor Knowledge

Please show your knowledge of College-Professors. What are the tasks a College-Professor has to complete, What is a College-Professor's salary?
A college professor’s day before school begins starts with a cup of coffee, lesson planning, grading any previous work done by students, and preparing for the school day by dressing appropriately. Once the school gates open, the professor is seen as a role model for the students, following the rules and code of conduct formally, being aware of their surroundings, creating a safe environment around campus, and discussing with their colleagues if necessary. Once classes begin, it is the professor’s job to announce their class has started, wait for their students to settle into their seats, teach the class based on their lesson plan while answering questions a student may have (and of course logging the class), and providing homework if necessary. If they aren’t teaching then it’s all about strolling the halls to smack the students into classes, sitting in the lounge to continue planning lessons or grading papers, and maintaining order around the campus. This type of cycle pretty much repeats. What do they earn for their dedication? Glad you asked! Professors make ¥450,000 once they reach the monthly quota of 15 classes. An additional ¥50,000 is given per extra 10 classes. Very rich, intelligent professors indeed.

Character Knowledge

Tell us everything you know about the character you will be playing in a few paragraphs. How does he/she look like? What makes him/her unique and different? What is his/her outlook on Students? What about the other teachers? What is his/her personality like? What is his/her plan for the future?
Iris R. Cortez (Iris Rososora Cortez) is a young lady who's either bald one day or rocking a wig another day! She has green eyes, usually wears glasses because it fits her aesthetic, not because she's blind! She has an interesting personality as she's an unusual character, especially outside of school while maintaining proper composure inside the school. She usually wears her iconic green jacket with her black high heel boots! However, I may change her style a bit!

Her personality is quite interesting to some and may be seen as weird. A quirky little woman, yes, little woman. As blunt as she can be, she is outgoing, a very open-minded person. She can be harsh if deem necessary. Of course not harsh as in cruel or plain mean but in a disciplined, loving way towards the people she cares about!

With her students, I guess you could say she would treat them as adults in this case sometimes giving her students a shoulder to lean on. While she was a teacher, even though she disciplined students, putting them in detention, there were some she found to be very disruptive and wanted to have a chat with them. In other words, she somewhat sees herself as their “counselor” or mother figure. She hopes to see her students succeed in life just like her own kids. She views her co-workers as either a friend or simply... coworkers she can rely on when needed and vice versa! Any troubles, concerns, or questions she may have, they are the first she may go to!

Scenarios

You find a group of sport-team members screaming and shouting in the halls, What do you do?
I’d approach the group asking them to quiet down. If they are screaming due to something happening such as an accident or fight, it is my duty to call for back to help assist in backing me up and as I wait for help to arrive, I shall settle the situation the best way I can. However, if they are just screaming for the fun of it, I’d remind them of their position and give them a lecture on the purpose of rules and why maintaining a safe environment is important. Continuing their actions will cause me to threaten their actual position on the team being taken from them and if the situation is still ongoing with no respect from the students then a warning for detention may be in place. Hopefully, before such a warning is told their act should be cleaned up.

A College-Student is disturbing the class and won’t listen to a word you’re saying, What do you do?
I would remind the student of their position. College students are supposed to be mature and ready to learn which creates a good outlook for high school students wanting to graduate. There are a few ways to handle this kind of student:

Kick them out. - Simple and quick. If a student doesn’t want to learn, kick them out and issue detention if necessary.

Pull them to the side. - As long as I have the back up idea of an assignment ready for the rest of the class to work on while I talk to the student, I may pause and pull said student to the side and discuss with them in determination to discover the root of their disruptive behavior.

Switch up my teaching process. - Sometimes a professor’s method of teaching is clearly boring a student if they no longer pay attention or end up in outer space. How to solve that problem? Switch up the teaching style mid-way to catch their attention while still being on track with the original lesson plan.
There’s a difference between a student being disruptive just for the fun of it and a student being disruptive because they can’t properly learn from the professor's teaching method.

Provide at least 3 detailed /me's of your character inside a classroom:

/me
&dIris stood in front of the class with a grin as she watched her students flood the classroom. Eager to get her lesson started, she grabbed the stack of papers that rested on her desk before officially greeting her students. &f”Good morning students!”

/me &dIris grabbed her pointing stick from her desk, using it to point at example B on the board, specifically the game board’s design that is displayed while explaining its importance. She would maintain a consistent rhythm between the switch of eye contact with her students and the board before.

/me &dIris slowly strolled within the aisle towards the misbehaving student. As she reached the destination, she stared at the student with her arms folded. A small grin would appear as an idea clicked into her head as she directed the student to stand up and follow her to her desk where the discussion would take place.

Backstory

Describe how your character ended up becoming a teacher and his/her previous life. It is optional to include earlier life but recommended. Make sure this is over 100 words. Remove this comment after posting.*/
In 19XX, Iris was born in Seoul, South Korea. She lived in an orphanage with other children she called her family. She was soon adopted along with the other children into a family called the Cortez and was given their name. Iris grew up close to the head of the family, Oni. Oni was a teacher herself and Iris decided to be like her as well, believing it would be fun to teach her own class of students. Oni one day took Iris with her to view what it was like teaching and it sparked her motivation to become one as well.

Going into middle school, Iris set her sights on being a teacher while also participating in school events and even helping come up with events as well. They called her "Little Star Student" due to her being shorter than the average girl at her age. She worked closely with her teachers, trying to learn as much as she could such as: what to do when the class isn't focused and how to deal with disruptive students. She was able to learn way much more once she got into high school. She took some classes that helped guide her thinking when being a teacher. She was able to learn what to do in certain situations while teaching is in session as well as how to handle students out of the classroom.

The family decided to move to Japan, specifically Karakura, Japan as their family was slowly becoming toxic living in Korea. It was a fresh new start for everyone including Iris but it didn't change her mind about becoming a teacher. Years later, she got into college and decided to major in her favorite subject, science as it felt easy for her to do. She also took classes related to teaching and learned more about class setups, lesson planning, detentions, etc.

Fast-forwarding she finally became a teacher at Karakura, a science teacher at that, and had many different experiences while teaching. After some time of re-teaching science once again, Iris began to feel a little repetitive with her teaching style and lessons. Since she's already taught Science many times before, she wanted to take a step into another subject that she found to interest her. With the motivation and right mindset to change the subject she teaches, she applied for a subject change, awaiting her possible acceptance letter approving her. Eventually, she was qualified to become a culinary teacher!

After years of teaching her high school students, she decided to resign from her position, taking a break from teaching to be with her children while picking up a small job. Yes, some of the stress got to her and she needed a bit of a vacation. A couple of years later, she wanted to come back into teaching... Again! She would apply to be in a very professional position of a professor, sending in her application and awaiting her approval.
