Describe your activity on the server: My earliest memory of SchoolRP is from 2019, where I can be spotted, right here, in the midst of my first friends on the server. That being said, I have been playing on this server for a whopping six years now consistently. In that time, my activity has fluctuated depending on my real life schedule and responsibilities, as well as the things I’ve chosen to dedicate myself to within the server’s perimeter. As of right now however, my schedule has been reduced severely which has allowed for me to dedicate myself to new things.

AD_4nXfo_6w3WDv6pJ0xJi-IDNGUAi1bHS3eSp7SnQSOAFlTnUs5Bk4im4LwqJptcpRDDMoCNWmgeqCT7Jj0ke_2cuYWyVX7__ZR2PfS_oa1YMS4p1Mbql2XgCSu88FFP5SqCxMq_ai77w

My current positions on SchoolRP consist of Modelling team, Event team and Volleyball team. In my opinion, I have room to do more. I was heavily inspired by the Karakura Police Department for the new character I’ve spent a long time writing and perfecting, and so all of my energy has been put into creating a detailed and interesting character to play within the faction. For real life responsibilities, I recently finished up college for the summer and have a part-time job. Thus, my free time has increased in size.

What is your motivation for applying?:
As I briefly mentioned in my previous answer, I was inspired by the Karakura Police Department for a character I am eager to play. I took light inspiration from Vi, a character in Arcane who is broody, strong and playful. My character is borrowed concepts of her as well as my own twists and turns on her backstory, development and personality. Her whole character arc has been set up for her to become a police officer and serve alongside her brother, Luka Black. He has been her role model since diapers and helped pave the way for this strong-minded and compassionate woman.

I also have fond memories of my brief time in the Karakura Police Department around 2022, however back then I did struggle due to my old PC. I was unable to keep up due to my lack of FPS and a steady connection, however years later I have finally amended that issue (Eco would be so proud). Another complication during that period was that I received a captain role for the team I was on at the time, and that plus my event team responsibilities took priority over my cadet role. I am glad that the captain’s today have a much larger support system for the time consuming role. I do not see this becoming a problem in the future again, and I am keen to get back on the bandwagon of sorts. I would also like to humbly mention that when I was a cadet I was rewarded with a beautiful candy cane that symbolised my promise as an officer. I am unaware if this tradition still exists but if it does I’m going after that candy cane again.

What knowledge do you have of Police Work?
As I was a cadet a couple of years ago I suspect I am expected to know plenty already. However, I am also aware that procedures update and change with time, thus I will not pretend to be an expert on the topic of police work. I do however believe I know a decent amount, so I will summarise as best I can below.

Policing consists of a variety of tasks with the sole purpose of keeping the public safe from criminal activity. The faction is divided into two divisions, main and detective. There are a range of roles within the faction that I will list here:

  • Commissioner

Main Division
  • Captain
  • Lieutenant
  • Sergeant
  • Corporal
  • Patrol Officer
  • Cadet

Detective Division
  • Detective Superintendent
  • Detective Chief Inspector
  • Detective Sergeant
  • Detective Constable

A range of radio codes are taught to both the KPD and EMS in order to communicate situations without alerting any public that needn’t know or possible threats that shouldn’t know. Highlighted are the codes that are most common and necessary to the KPD. Those go as follows to my knowledge:

  • 10-4 = Understood
  • 10-8 = On my way
  • 10-10 = Off duty
  • 10-12 = Stand-by (stop)
  • 10-15 = Prisoner in custody
  • 10-19 = Returning
  • 10-20 = Location
  • 10-22 = Cancel/Disregard
  • 10-23 = Stand by
  • 10-26 = Clear
  • 10-43 = Call EMS
  • 10-45 = Condition of patient?
  • 10-45A = Good
  • 10-45B = Serious
  • 10-45C = Critical
  • 10-45D = Dead
  • 10-97 = Arrived at scene
  • 11-99 = Officer needs help

There is also a code 0 in which alerts fellow officers of another colleague in a possibly deadly situation.

Officers are trained in two different categories, physical and informational. Physical training consists of common scenarios that prepare an Officer for interactions they may have with the public. If my memory serves me, these scenarios consist of patting people down, determining whether a person is holding a weapon or not and charging with it, tasing somebody, finding a hidden weapon, checking corners, metal detectors, evasions and so on. These of course could have changed since my time but I assume they are roughly the same.

Informational training teaches an officer an assortment of usual knowledge that is the backbone of KPD procedure. This consists of a lengthy list of commands, detail on the equipment officers have access to, the rules on CCTV, patrols, reports, restraining orders, visitations, raids, pinging priorities, arrests and inmate care, bails, taxation, bail calculations (although I assume this is done automatically now), bats & ballistic masks, weaponry, pans, unprescribed medication, weaponry and other illegal items during a raid, fake identification, self-defence, judicial cases, formations and timers. So yes, this is a lot, however it is all vital to keeping your character and fellow officers alive. I’m sure as I mentioned before that things have changed over the years, and I am purely going off of my three year old recollection of information.

I am sure I will have plenty to learn and I am eager to get started!

Why is Police important to SchoolRP?
Corruption has been a hot topic on many citizen’s lips in recent times, in both criminal and government sense. It is an officer's job to maintain the law with unbiased jurisdiction and a sensible awareness for the safety of themselves and others. CriminalRP is a huge part of the SchoolRP community, and without it many plotlines of Karakura’s dark history would not exist. Criminal activity whilst can be fun, must have balance. That is where the Karakura Police Department comes in. The balance between both factions creates heart-pumping tension and scenarios for both sides, which ultimately equals fun roleplay for all parties involved (if done correctly).

Police are also important for a sense of realism. Roleplay Hub prides itself on being the biggest roleplay server on Minecraft, and with that comes expectations. Police keep a sense of civility across the land of Karakura, and basically means we won’t be getting a second rendition of ‘The Lord of the Flies’ anytime soon (If you know, you know). Having a secure police system allows players to have serious roleplay situations, such as getting arrested or visiting an inmate. So in summary, Police are important for keeping the peace and allowing for plenty of opportunity in not only the gang faction, but the EMS and government too.

Do you acknowledge that if training is held whilst you are online, you are needed to attend or you will be punished?
Yes I fully acknowledge this consequence.

In-Character (IC) Section

What's your character's full name?: Jaia Black

How old is your character (if accepted)?: 25

What are your character's gender and pronouns?: Female and she/her

Please select your highest academic role at the time of writing this application: (Grade-12/Bachelors/Masters/PhD): Bachelors

What languages does your character know besides Japanese?: Italian, JSL and Jin

Describe your character; how they look, what makes them unique?
Jaia is of a muscular build, with clear signs of a nutritional diet and plenty of exercise. Her scruffy locks are a warm chocolate brown which paired well with her bronzed skin tone. She has harsh cheekbones and a small dorsal hump on the bridge of her nose. Her lips are puffy and red, as if she had just eaten an assortment of summer fruits. She sports a hefty amount of piercings, including one in her tongue, and tattoos that span from her neck all the way down to the small of her back, as well as two completed sleeves.

Jaia prefers shorts to skirts and tank tops to crop tops. Her masculine clothing is paired with a humble confidence, one fueling the other and vice-versa. Her level-headed and pragmatic way of dealing with life seemed to come naturally to her alongside her physical strength and dexterity. From the outside, this was a well-rounded healthy grown woman.

How does your character act in a professional/casual situation?
Jaia has a sensible nature about her when it comes to her professional life, especially with the career path she has chosen. When she is able to let loose and have fun, that visage of cool collection strips away to reveal a playful, charismatic and blunt woman. She enjoys leaving no stone unturned and speaking her mind. Her confidence in her ability did not only apply to her work life but her personal one too. Flirting came naturally, more as a pass time than anything else. Nobody has been able to tame this wildfire just yet.

Jaia is determined to bring justice to the town she now resides in and protect those who cannot protect themselves. Whilst she may be built like a tank and looks scary at times, she has a heart of gold who only wants fairness in the world. She aspires greatly to be the type of Officer her father was, who had many adore him for his bravery and kindness. He gave back to the community and taught his two children to do the same, ‘for human connection was the sole peace keeper of the world’, as he would say.

What is their outlook on the idea of co-workers & teamwork?
Jaia has had plenty of experiences with teamwork, specifically with her brother. As a pass time, the pair took on some pretty dangerous and exhilarating climbing trails when she was in college. Having faith in one another to get to the top safely was key, especially with physical and metaphorical bumps in the road. These trips could’ve counted for therapy too. In the end however, the siblings became closer than ever from their amazing trips abroad. Of course they still fight like brother and sister, but they also know how eachother work too. It just so happens that her knowledge of her brother would come in handy, working in the same workplace and all.

Jaia is excited to get to know some new people and make new friends on the job. A sense of community, as her father taught her, keeps people’s spirits alive. When working in a possibly life-threatening job, the better connection with your peers could change the outlook of your safety and life as she saw it. They don’t say teamwork makes the dreamwork for no reason! Keeping on good terms with her colleagues was in her favour, she imagined.

What's your character's backstory?
The youngest of two children, Jaia Black was an extroverted girl with a talent for trouble. Mud pies and monkey bars kept this wild child entertained in the outdoors where she loved to play. She was a collector of bugs and she loved to make her own bird nests. Sometimes her hair resembled one after a long day of adventuring in the woodlands near her childhood home. Her adorable home back in Italy was something she often dreamed about. She wished she could trace the carvings tracking her and her brother’s height just once more, listen to the wind chimes that jingled softly, the sound of her mother’s rocking chair on the porch creaking. The swing set her father built for her seventh birthday was a core memory, and one that helped keep his beloved memory alive.

When Jaia was in her second year of highschool when her dear papa was taken too soon in a road accident in the line of duty. Most of her memories from her school years were gone during that period, except for the peaceful moments where she got to express all of her emotions through music. Her teachers graced her with lenience if she behaved, which worked out well for both sides of the deal. She had been difficult to manage for a while, struggling to cope with the loss. After finding ways to deal with her grief, such as guitar and rock climbing, she settled once again, eventually getting back on track with her grades. Jaia graduated with a diploma which got her into college, and she’d never seen her brother smile like that before. They’d grown closer with the loss of their father, Luka taking on the blunt force of her rage and her mourning. She’d grown grateful beyond belief for his existence, and determined they would make use of the time they got to share together. That is what led them to the many adventures up dangerous trails and cliffs, the adrenaline of doing something that risked their lives became something of an addiction. It did not heal the wounds of loss, but it grew their hearts large enough to accept love from others and themselves.

College was easier, she made friends easily and enjoyed the independence that came with higher education. She routined studying into her weekly schedule, and found a healthy balance for her hobbies and school. Jaia discovered the gym on campus that was free to use, which is where she started her muscle gain journey. Whilst her years of climbing over her teen years had helped her tone out, she hadn’t gained the biceps or quads she had now. Her build had gotten her some fascinated looks from young men over the years, but they hadn’t been who she was looking at. Her discovery in her attraction towards women came early in her years. She had always thought girls were pretty, she just never knew why until she got to highschool.

It seemed as though she had blinked and suddenly she was an adult, graduated and feeling like she was out of time at a mere five and twenty. She felt guilty about following her brother to Japan, but how could she not? Even if he was an annoying and competitive older sibling, she needed him. Family was important to her, and whilst hers was not large, there was always room for expansion, when she was older of course. She didn’t mind becoming an Aunt either, but that conversation was always shut down by her dear brother. He was focussed on his career just now, which definitely wasn’t the inspiration for her current obsession with her own career, or the reason she got a degree in the first place.

Jaia still enjoys her passions in her free time, hiking and exercise taking up a large portion of her week. Moving kept her from dwelling on the past, for who wants to be sad forever? She also made a habit of practicing her guitar and languages every week, dedicating at least an hour a day to keep her brain activity strong. She loved watching Italian movies and on occasion a new book in another language to keep her on her toes. She loved a challenge after all, life was no fun when you had all of the answers, she had determined.
Extra: The story of how Jaia learned Japanese
Being an overachiever stemmed from her older brother as inspiration. He had always spoken about leaving their home in Italy for new experiences, and in turn he chose one of the hardest languages to learn, Japanese. Whilst Jaia would not openly admit it, she loved her brother dearly and did not want to live in two separate countries. So, in secret she would also learn. She started off without much commitment in highschool using Duolingo. She hadn’t much enjoyed the app and thus she had put that to rest. Jaia’s only motivation for pushing herself as hard as she did was Luka. How could he leave her here with their widowed mother and clingy grandparents. Gosh, she could never imagine being like that. Anyway, she had to go with him, they were joined at the hip! So, in college she decided to take it seriously.

She had gotten odd looks from the administration when she signed up for four years of Japanese classes, but alas there were plenty of spots for her to join. In fact, there was such a severe lack of students that the professor was able to name and identify all of the students in his class by heart. That meant no free periods to grab a burger and milkshake. Looking on the bright side, she decided this was a good thing, her professor keeping a close eye on his students meant somebody other than her would keep her in check. Which, as the class went on, she realised she desperately needed.

The classes started manageably, however her professor was… quirky. He wanted to prepare this handful of students to sound fluent, be able to hold up in a real conversation and be able to read with ease. It was like everything she had needed in more, and that was the annoying part. It was difficult to hate him when he pushed her to answer questions in Japanese or write an essay on Japanese culture and critiqued her with ease when she got it wrong. This professor student relationship had suddenly turned her sour for the 3 hour lectures she had three times a week. It felt like her major had suddenly become her minor, invested so deeply in this language learning journey. She hadn’t even realised how much she enjoyed the challenge and push from her dear professor, as she was too busy loathing him at the time. Each book he assigned the class to read or pop quiz he surprised them with and ended up becoming her mental way of beating him. Being top of her class at the end of the four years whilst wasn’t exactly her biggest accomplishment, had felt amazing to her. In her mind, she had won, although a small part of her in the back of her brain couldn't get rid of the notion that she would not have won and become fluent without his constant pushing. He had known what she had needed, read her like a book and provided the education that would allow her to work in Japan with her unknowing brother.

Her brother’s face had indeed been priceless at her graduation when she began a conversation with her professor in Japanese to introduce the two. In that moment, all of the long nights studying the language, talking Japanese to the air and according to her old roommate, in her sleep, the past papers she completed, the essays about everything and anything Japanese culture, lengthy book assignments and ****yses had all become worth it.

General Knowledge
—————————

Can you legally own a pocket knife in Karakura?
No, pocket knives are illegal to carry. Being caught with a pocket knife will result in jail time and a criminal record for possession of minor illegal weaponry.

Name 5 medical items that do NOT require a prescription
*Cracks knuckles.* Guys did you know I was in EMS-
Paracetamol
Multivitamins
Melatonin
Bandage
Wooden Cane

If you see your co-workers physically abusing an inmate, what should you do?
I would firstly call for EMS, and for back up from any fellow officers available. Then approach the situation, making sure my body cam is on for any future evidence needed. I would remove the abusing officer from the inmate and as far away from the situation as possible without leaving either person alone. Once the officer is secure, I would make sure the inmate is okay or in need of any medkit treatment until EMS arrives.

What should you do if you see your co-worker being assaulted?
I would firstly make sure the surrounding area is secure in case there are any other potential threats. I would also quickly make a stress call to EMS of the situation and location. If it is deemed safe to proceed, I would attempt to tase the assaulter and cuff them.

What do you do if you find out that your co-worker is corrupt and is helping criminal organizations?
I would file a report to my superior officers and make sure I have the evidence to back up the claim via body cam or other means. The corrupted officer if proven guilty would be arrested and serve 20 months with a felony charge.

How would you react to a criminal trying to bribe you?
As bribery is a fineable offense, I would fine them for the attempt and if they do not have the means to pay it, I will arrest the person. Depending on the procedure, they would either do time or complete community service.
