Why are Teachers so important to SchoolRP?:
I suppose the obvious answer would be that it's in the name of the server. The whole community revolves around the school aspect of Karakura, whether people are actively involved in the faction or not. A school however, is nothing without its teachers. Teachers add a more realistic component to this fictional world, providing opportunities for student characters to learn, grow and evolve into the college students or adults they intend to become. There are a plethora of subjects for characters to take an interest in and with the right teachers, students are able to expand their knowledge and help build a brighter future for Karakura! In conclusion, the teacher faction is so important as a school simply cannot function without its educators. Teachers create the most realistic roleplay environment for SchoolRP: with the use of real people over simple NPC classes. This gives power to the people and encourages creative thinking, which in my opinion is the best way to do it.

What is your motivation for becoming a Teacher?:
In truth my main motivation for becoming a teacher would be to involve myself more in the roleplay scene on SchoolRP. As I currently occupy the cheer captain role, I find myself roleplaying less in order to provide more for my team. Do not get me wrong, I enjoy the role a lot, however finding roleplay outside of anything cheer related becomes a bit of a struggle. I'd like to go back to my roots a wee bit and take on the faculty faction once again. I have been a professor over the years but never a teacher. I've decided this time around to apply for the teacher faction due to most of my friends being on the high school side of SchoolRP as well as wanting something of a change. I have noticed through teaching and attending both high school and college lessons that the experience can be a little bit different. So I thought I'd take this opportunity to try something new. I've recently been enjoying attending lessons as Trinity Takagi and find myself drawn to the teacher faction as a result of the positive experience I've had. Some of the current teachers in the faction have been something of an inspiration to me when applying and I'd like to join them in creating memorable and interesting lessons for those who wish to take their character down memory lane.

Describe your character:
Pippa does not enjoy spotlights. In fact, she loathes them. She has always felt that her best work has been done from the side lines, behind the curtain or in the tech booth. Yet this feeling seems to dissipate as soon as one of her favourite subjects is brought into conversation. The piercing gazes suddenly become dull, her sweaty palms stop shaking and the words flow from her lips without a single stutter. What topic could possibly have such an impact on one deathly shy girl? The gruesome history of Karakura. Oh yeah, she was one of those. A town with a rich history filled with bloody tales and horrific tragedies, what's not to love? Instead of finding herself lost in the fiction section of the library, Pip's kitten heels often clicked down the corridor towards the non-fiction section. Her passion for fatal accidents and gory stories seemed to run in the family, yet this Heddo had taken no interest in operating rooms. Her heart lay in the morgue at best. After writing many articles for Karakura News on different tragic events, Pippa decided to take on a new approach to her passion, the new direction being teaching.

Whilst the idea of becoming a teacher sounded exciting, it also came with its own worries. Pippa had excelled when she was out of the public eye, yet now she wanted to stand in front of a classroom filled with angsty teens who'd almost definitely judge her brutally. Her appearance had never been a focus, brunette hair that she'd never dyed, pale skin from a lack of sun, features that reflected her family line: yet now she felt like bait in a shark tank. A shiny new toy for the kids to break. As a twenty-five year old woman, one simple motto got her through her fears. A motto that had founded a generation and kept spirits alive when society couldn't; You only live once. #YOLO was more than an acronym, it was a way of living. Pippa Heddo was going to face her fears and overcome them, one lesson at a time. Plus who doesn't love a good crime documentary?

The interest in spiritual activity and crime had risen in Karakura over the past year, teenagers taking (extreme) interest in the topics, even forming their own clubs around it. Yet their methods of exploring this passion were not always the safest, as the record showed. Pippa's plan was to create a safe environment to discuss and learn about the horrific history and the blood that built Karakura without endangering any students. Couldn't be that difficult, could it?

Roleplay Scenarios

A student in class is struggling to understand the content, what would your character do?:
After being utterly horrified by a teacher publicly addressing Pippa's confused face at an assignment in mathematics class, Pippa swore to never be that type of teacher. The sly snickers from the group of girls she had never particularly liked still kept her up at night: the ultimate humiliation. This Heddo swore to take on a student's confusion as a delicate subject. Whilst not every teenager was prone to embarrassment from purely existing, she was aware that many existed: much like her.

Pippa's approach was something akin to closing in on a lost animal, friendly and cautious. Her naturally quiet voice somehow got even lower, making her line of questioning only audible to the student at hand (and their peers with excellent hearing). Once she had successfully entered 'stealth mode', her goal became working out where she had lost the student in her rambling then catching them up casually. No big deals made or fusses out of frustration, everybody learns at their own pace!

A student is continuously being disruptive in class, talking out of turn, and making jokes with classmates. What would your character do?:
It seemed almost ironic to her that the biggest horror out of all the topics she discussed in her history class was an overly confident teenager who had made it their mission to be disruptive. Perhaps she had grown so passionate about nipping misbehaviour in the bud due to her own teenage self. The girl had silently cursed every noisy know-it-all, hair-pulling cheerleader and self-proclaimed class clown when she had been a student. Yet some things never change, except now she was in charge of all three of those categories.

Her values and approach were quite simple, take the class seriously as history is a serious endeavour. If theatrics is a student's passion, she will happily point them in the direction of the closest performing arts class. If multiple warnings are dismissed and learning time is lost, Pippa Heddo would not hesitate to boot the student from class. Not literally. No students will be harmed in her care.

Provide at least 2 interactive class ideas related to your preferred subject:
For topics of discussion, I plan on focussing real events that have occurred within Karakura. Whilst 'horrible history' is her main focus, Pippa may also delve into tamer time capsules that simply contain historical events over the past few years. I've been around on the server long enough to have quite the recollection of many interesting events that not a lot of players may know about! That is what I want to focus on in these classes.

LESSON ONE: The History of Bears

Bears were not always seen in Karakura, yet now we have our very own wildlife retreat to protect them. So what is their story? In this class, we'll be discussing the introduction of bears in Karakura and the impact they had on our society. How were bears perceived and treated by the general public and what damage has been caused? Many horror stories of bear attacks have been reported over the years, so it is important for these students to learn them in order to do better than those who came before. Pippa would love to take her class on a field trip to the wildlife retreat to discuss the history and horror stories of bears, surely nothing could go wrong!

LESSON TWO: The Ambulance Accident

There are many hidden histories all throughout Karakura, one that not many students will know about is when an ambulance crashed into the Saiky Estate. During this lesson, Pippa will be teaching the class about what happened the night of the crash, who was involved and how it happened through an interactive investigation. Students will be able to look at old news reports from the incident and discuss their theories on what went on inside the vehicle moments before the accident. This lesson will be about more than just the accident itself, students will be encouraged to explore the sources available to them to gather information on what happened in order to come to their own conclusions. This lesson will aim to teach the students about the importance of journalism and physical media when it comes to tracking history. Students will also be encouraged to visit the scene of the accident in their own time, as remnants of this tragedy still exist to this day.
