Karakura News

Greetings, citizens of Karakura. Just a few days ago, Japan celebrated the yearly Tanabata Festival. To some the holiday may seem like just another festival, however there is a much greater meaning. As often taught in schools, Tanabata originated from the Chinese Qixi Festival. What does this mean, you may ask? Below will be an elaboration on what the celebration truly is about, and what impact it may hold even in current day. Tanabata, also referred to as the ‘star festival’, is celebrated on the seventh day of the seventh month. This is due to the old Chinese legend of Orihime and Hikoboshi. Long ago, there was a kingdom in the sky, neighboring the Milky Way. Within this kingdom lived Princess Orihime, who weaved day and night to...
July 6, 2022 Barbatos Archon Good day, Karakura! I am Barbatos Archon here with a report regarding people’s opinions on the Akihito Family. With the recent events such as the riots last month, to the more recent ones with the Deputy Mayor elections, I’ve interviewed highschool students, college students, and adults about their thoughts on the family. The majority of the interviewed people decided to keep themselves anonymous, so please respect them in what their opinions are and especially those who decide to reveal who they are. - - - - - - - - - - - [!] A voice recording would start to play, Barbatos’ voice clear while the other muffled [!] - - - - - - - - - - - "Well then.. what is your opinion on the Akihito family?"...
A look into the eye of foot fungus Updated July 4th 2022 GMT Hey’a Karakura, It’s Tatsuo Terusuno once again. Today, I come to report on a more serious topic. Fungal disease is something that affects billions of people in the world, but today we’ll be focusing on one out of the many forms fungal infections take, foot fungus. The form of this fungal disease infects millions across the country every single year, sometimes even being chronic. I had the honor of talking to one of Karakura’s own students to let her speak on her very own experience with foot fungus! I’ll cut to the chase and let you in on Kolva Isao’s experience. TT: When did you first discover your foot fungus? KI: Hmmm… Well, it was when I was real little- back when...

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Disclaimer that not all the restaurants will have a rating due to not opening. In a world as bleak as this, food can bring people together or maybe make you feel a bit better about yourself. Listen, this will likely be my most lighthearted news article about something that is very deep-rooted in my family. So now I’m going to harshly critique your restaurants to see if it’s up to standard. Spoiler warning, it’s not the greatest outcome! Most of the restaurants in Karakura don’t actually open, and that means most people sadly end up eating fast food. Or, if you have a good family, you have home cooking. Regardless, restaurants are important and Karakura is a barren wasteland...
30/06/22 Umeda Kame, Senior Reporter Here I am again with another election related report! As a follow up to the one Terusuno’s report, I’m here to get political! My favorite.. On the 29th, Governor Malachi Moralez hosted a football game as one of his events for this election. Who was playing? Well, it was Spartans V Adults! During this, the Spartans won, obviously. For concessions, there was a stand run by Zara Zabroda, Karakura’s very own Cheer captain! These were held for snacks while you watched the game! After the match, Moralez held a Q & A for the citizens to ask him questions about what he was running for. A few of them were about the families in power around town, a few about schooling, and some for cops and the death of...
Let's play ball! Spartans v. Adults Updated June 29th 2022 GMT Yeehaw! It’s Tatsuo Terusuno, reporting to you all once more this month! I had the great chance to sit in and watch an exciting game of football between various Spartan team members against a group of citizens in town, including our very own Governor Malachi Moralez, on his campaign for the Karakura Deputy Mayor position. Blue Team - Spartans Shiro Montoku Chika Kagura Tens Terusuno Jun Seijuro Chibana Ysella Ayumi Substitutes Aimi Kiyabu (for Jun Seijuro Chibana) Brandon MacLeod (for Chika Kagura) Red Team - Adults Malachi Moralez Kuro Uso Akito Saiky Elias Saiky Douglas Argent Hunter Matsumoto gave a very exciting commentary throughout the game, one of Spartan’s...
How to be supportive for others during Pride month! Updated June 28th 2022 GMT Howdy! For the first time ever, It’s Tatsuo Terusuno reporting to Karakura. I’m happy to close out this month by informing us townspeople about what makes it so great. Pride month! A month to celebrate all of those unique individuals, and Karakura is sure the destination place for it all. This town is not only diverse in its people’s origins, but we also have a large number of people in this town diverse with many people who identify with the LGBTQ+ community. Much of what makes this month, something very sentimental, is the many young adults and kids who show their loved ones who they truly are. Thankfully, with the new coming age of parents, lots of them...
Good day citizens of Karakura! Kaz here! I know it's been a while, but I hope you are all well! A few days ago, I was contacted by Commissioner Hiroto Akihito, wanting to share the newest changes in Karakura's laws! Due to the lack of information coming from the town hall, our Commissioner took it upon himself to share the daily changes that affect our lives. As of now, it should be known that trespassing on someone's property will result in a week-long arrest, with a bail of 50,000¥. So those of you who enjoy parkour better watch where you land! For those who struggle with a slight alcohol addiction, you can now be fined for being intoxicated in public. But this isn't affected if you're drinking in the private confines of your...
Greetings, citizens of Karakura. As you all know due to Umeda Kame’s updates on the various campaigns and upcoming election, the position for Deputy Mayor is to be filled soon. Due to this, I have taken it upon myself to ask the everyday folk of Karakura their opinions on the candidates and what they wish to see in the upcoming years. After much trial and error, a general consensus has been decided upon by the answers I received. Further detail below. Which candidate is the most well-received? Out of the 16 people who I was able to speak with, the results tally as followed: an astounding amount of support is gathered for Kiyoko Akai, with a few civilians voicing their support for Malachi Moralez. In total the votes matched with...
21/06/22 Umeda Kame, Senior Reporter On Monday, Governor Kiyoko Akai, the third candidate for the Deputy Mayor elections, hosted a banquet for the factions and their higher-ups! The banquet took place at La Casa Nostra, where they were serving food. During the banquet, Governor Akai walked around, thanking the people who had come to the event, as well as answering any questions they had on her campaign. Towards the end, Akai started her speech! She started out as any normal speech, thanking the people who had come, and then she moved onto why she picked the people she did. She said that the banquet was to bring people of power together, to make a change. Then she moved on to talk about how important the election is for the town of...
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── This will be a recount of the Palerma v KPD case. Afterward, I will personally share my thoughts on what this shows about the city of Karakura, the legal system, and what is wrong with all of it. On 04/6/22, a trial was held in an effort to fight against charges of assault brought against a man named Velia Palerma. The trial went about normally, but many behaviors in the courtroom suggest there’s a much deeper side to this court case. First, what was it about? Velia Palerma was arrested for assaulting his attacker, Shinoku Nakamoto. It was decided by law enforcement that he deserved an equal sentence for taking his defense into his own hands. Self-defense has always been...
17/06/22 Umeda Kame, Senior Reporter Alright, today was actually an eventful day! As a follow up from my previous report on the Deputy Mayor elections, today Governor Malachi Moralez hosted a gathering at the public skate park, located next to the Karakura News station and the beach football field. At this gathering there was a stand for the restaurant, Shizukesa, they were serving snacks and refreshments. As people started arriving, Governor Moralez began his speech. In the beginning, he started with thanking the workers and owner from Shizukesa, as always, and spoke on how when he first came back from his tragic kidnappers, they gave him a full free meal. As well as his reasoning for picking the skate park, stating ‘it feels more...
05/06/22 Umeda Kame, Senior Reporter Afternoon people of Karakura. Now I know this report has taken a while to come out, however, I wanted to give time to the injured for recovery. Now, Let's get into it. Around a week ago, tragedy struck. A sudden explosion boomed from the east side of the town, and no one knew where it had come from at the time. First responders were on their way to the scene, and four individuals emerged from the remains. After further investigation, the DNA of former mayor Alex Koji had been discovered, however, there was no body found to confirm it. Now, the names of most of the injured had been released. Current Mayor Akihito, his two children, and one unknown. The events that transpired before the explosion...

This means you, yes, you citizens of Karakura get the chance to voice your opinions via a voting system! Now, with this announcement, you might be wondering, what is a deputy mayor? This position will act like, an assistant manager! Someone who takes over when the current manager is out, or away from the job. This is a big role, especially for Karakura due to the major political needs it has. What kind of people would be running? Well, currently...

5/22/22 Umeda Kame, Senior Reporter Alright, today was honestly a very very confusing day. It started with a total island blackout, no cell service, and no lights unless you count the moon. The blackout lasted 10 minutes, and lord knows what the people did during it. I, myself was with Mayor Akihito on a roof. Next, while strolling around the plaza, a group of KPD was doing a normal patrol route, until a swarm of people started to come around them while patting someone down. This escalated very quickly, drawing out most of the entire force to assist with the large crowd. Due to the crowd not backing off, tasers and bullets were fired to scare them off. The officers left the area… only to be followed by the crowd. This started the...
[OOC: THIS IS A LIVE BROADCAST, TREAT IT AS ONE ICLY] *A scene appeared on your TV screens, and news apps on the phone. Mayor Akihito was present at a desk, in what looked like a meeting room. He had a plate of donuts and a microphone in front fo him.* *Mayor Akihito cleared his throat and began speaking, in a calm tone from him.* "Good afternoon, citizens of Karakura. I would have much rather preferred giving this speech in public but because of the current situations. . .the riots, and the slander. . .I believe it is a better choice to broadcast this live on screen. A few days back, a blackout occurred across the city that happened for ten straight minutes, uninterrupted and timed perfectly; we sent a team to investigate the...
