My activity on the server is rather good, I’d say. I can usually get on for about 5-6 hours per day. Less if I need to get schoolwork done, since my last year of high school is pretty relaxed, so I have free time until I get a job, which won’t be for several months when I turn 18. I’ll only have one faction to keep up with, should I get this role, that faction being lawyer, which doesn’t usually require me to be on often for it, since most things I get pinged for and they don’t take longer than an hour, which would leave me with several hours to dedicate to shrine. I also work for a couple of stores, but they don't take up much of my day—it happens at most 3 times a week and lasts 45 minutes. Besides stores and lawyer work, I don’t do too much else on the server currently, which means I’ll have plenty of time to put towards developing my shrine character!

What is your motivation for applying?
There are many reasons I want to apply! Ever since I joined SRP, I have always been interested in what the shrine does. Sure, I didn’t interact with them as much as I should have, but admittedly, that’s because I thought they were way cooler than me… which they still are. But with a couple of friends joining the shrine faction that I’ve interacted with, I’ve realized it’s actually a pretty fun and inclusive faction! So I’ve really wanted to apply since around the start of 2025 to get to experience what the shrine faction is like from an inside perspective, since I only ever really see it from an outside one! I also want to build roleplay for my first ever character on SRP since despite her being my first character I never fully developed her and only ever played her for short durations, which is why I am applying now so that I can build my roleplay with her through a faction, since I tend to struggle playing a character when they aren’t in a faction!
What do you currently know about Shintoism? Are you willing to learn more about it?
I do not currently know too much about Shintoism! I know bits and pieces from learning over the course of my two years on the server and from people I’m friends with who were in the shrine faction. But overall, I haven’t learned too much about it since it’s harder to find things without getting an AI response, making me less willing to look things up. Which makes me absolutely willing to learn from Shrine since people have done research on it and have made the faction a great place to be and learn, so that way, when I do decide to research it, I’ll have something to go off of.

A girl with no eyes walks into the room. Her cane swept across the floor in a pattern that confirmed exactly where she was. Eventually, she pressed it against the chair and sat down. A jarring voice of someone who hadn’t spoken in a while began to come out of her.
“My name? Chloe Lopez.”

Her foot repeatedly hit the floor over and over again as her leg restlessly moved.
“A title? I have not gone by any title in many years. If it helps, I have no known living family members, and I am entirely unmarried. I suppose you’ll ask my age next, so I hope that helps in figuring out the title.”

Her thin arms slowly reached into her pocket, revealing an ID. She flipped it around to show the interviewer.
“My age… I suppose it’s been a while since the accident.. Probably around 20 years. So I guess that would make me 38, but who is really counting anymore?”

Single. I got ahead of myself in the previous question. But yes, I am single.

Could she even remember her nationality? 22 years without vision or talking, most people might not have been able to, yet she eventually spoke.

One arm scratched the other, leaving a small mark. The question hung in the air before words finally came out of her mouth. Filling the room.
“No degree. It happened before I could get to college. Turns out losing your eyes doesn’t do wonders for mental health, and I dropped out.”
Backstory
She opened her mouth to speak. Her story? What was her story?
“You want to know my story? Sure, why not? It’s a dark one, so just know I warned you.”
I was born in a happy family. That’s right. I actually had a pretty good childhood. My mother and father weren’t around much, but they did have people who took care of me, and I learned to live with it. I was actually pretty happy with it since the people were fun to be around. But I eventually got sick of it and wanted to move somewhere new to make new friends, so I decided to go to Japan since I had studied the language before. That is how I ended up in Karakura.
I didn’t come to Karakura like this, with no eyes, that is. In fact, I was a happy child who just wanted to be friends with people. I believe I was 13 or 14 when I first arrived. Whatever the youngest age of the high school is. I was a new kid and happened to meet someone looking for an apartment, and I helped them get one. Boring story, you shouldn’t care about it. Anyway, I continued like that, living with the same few friends for a couple of years, until eventually, when I was 18, I lost my eyes. No, no, that’s a boring way to tell the story. Let's go back a bit to before I was in Karakura... My friends had issues with a certain girl. I don’t remember her name and don’t care to. She is dead to me. My friends kept getting harassed by her until I showed up. I didn’t stop it, no. I just happened to be one of the victims who got in her way. I held onto a phone with evidence of her on it, and then she tackled me. Turns out she had a weapon and well. That’s how I lost them. They took my eyes with the weapon. That’s how I lost my eyes.
That’s right, I lost my eyes just for holding a phone. Sad story, but I don’t really care what you think about it. My eyes have been missing for 22 years now. I had enough pity from my girlfriend and friends at the time. Still crushed me, though, as you might have guessed. I slowly kept my distance from my friends. Still do to this day. I mean, they were there. Why didn’t they help? I became the woman you see before you now. An unfriendly, unhappy person. 38 years old now. I tried to hurt people all those years ago, you know? After the injury, I grew angry with everyone. I never did anything myself, but I met a man who I believe did. He hurt my friends, and I did nothing but let him. All because I held a grudge over something they didn’t even do to me. So I suppose that’s why I come here to work now. To seek forgiveness for letting him hurt them all. Maybe even learn to forgive them and the pity that felt pity for me.
What happened after everything? I wish I could tell you myself. But even I barely remember what happened. I was a mess. Even considered working for the hospital at one point. As you might have guessed, I did not get the job. Typically, you need to have sight to be a doctor. I spent those years barely able to eat, as I had little to no money, but I survived by living with a couple of people for a couple of years. All very kind people they were… and yet each time I left their places in the night, all because I couldn’t handle the pity people felt for me. Maybe I'm seeking this job because I need something? I wish I could tell you exactly what I wanted from this job. To grow as a person? Maybe? Or maybe I want to seek some sort of forgiveness? Perhaps a mix of everything. You now know everything about me you would need to know. Everything else is small stories you wouldn’t need to know. I prefer to stick to the obvious in these kinds of interviews. How does your character act around shrine grounds? How do they interact with guests and other staff?
Despite how she acted in the interview, there is still a part of Chloe that enjoys talking to people. The happiness inside her may be long faded for now, but that didn’t get rid of her ability to speak to people. However, 22 years of minimal talking have affected her way of speaking. Tending to change the way she speaks based on how the many families she lived with spoke. Failing to pick up specific social cues as well. This does mean she might not start as the most social member of the shrine, but she will grow over time to match how people in Karakura speak.
You see a guest jumping around the roofs of the building and overall disrespecting shrine grounds, how would your character handle it?
Her sight is gone, but not her hearing. Should she hear someone jumping around and the sounds of feet on tile, she would immediately tell them to get off the roof of the building. Having no time for nonsense while also caring about her own safety, she would not go up on the roof after them but rather just tell them to get down, or she would contact someone she could see to remove them. If nobody else is around, then she’d use the final option of threatening a removal from the shrine through the police, though admittedly, it would take her a while to actually call the police.
Why does your character want to become a shrine maiden/priest? What do they wish to achieve?
She wants to join shrine to grow as a person. Having remembered the peace shrine, which tends to be associated with it, made her want to hopefully spend the rest of her life up there in a smaller place she can memorize the feel of, even when blind. Having only received kindness from shrine rather than total pity, she does want to help how she can. She also seeks forgiveness for what she has done in the past, feeling remorse for what she has let happen to her friends.
